Unexpected

Mary sat on the ground next to the pond, swiping her hand left and right in the icy cold water that filled the pond. She looked at her reflection for a while and noticed Lucius wasn't by her side.

She looked left and right but he wasn't there. She looked behind and saw him, standing away from her, leaving a large gap between them.

"What's the matter?" Mary asked, curiously."Is something bothering you?"

He shook his head, staring at something, anxiously. Mary looked in the direction where Lucius was looking and landed her eyes on the pond.

She looked at Lucius again and he was still looking anxiously at the water. Mary understood the situation but she wanted to confirm it. So, she asked.

"Are you perhaps scared of water?"

He nodded slowly while blushing slightly, worried that Mary will think he is a scaredy cat.

Mary gazed at him, shocked. Then, she let out a soft chuckle and whispered gently under her breath.

"Cute!"

Lucius blushed more brightly, he could listen to what Mary just said.

Mary placed her hand once again inside the water and swung it around. She looked back at him.

"There's nothing to be afraid about."Mary said, smiling gently while still swinging her hand. "Water can't hurt you."

Lucius and Mary stared at each other for short seconds before Mary felt something grab her hand inside the pond.

She glanced down to see what was it but it was too late. Before she knew it, she was pulled into the pond with great force.

She used her free hand to scratch the hand that was pulling her. She was struggling to free herself but the hand wouldn't let go of her no matter how much she hurt it.

Then, she decided to force herself to open her eyes at least she wanted to get a good look at the creature. She slowly opened her eyes and was shocked by the experiment's appearance.

It was a girl(Her eyes were shining blue same as Mary, emerald green and messy hair yet it was surprisingly beautiful underwater. Her ears were fins and her lower half was a fish's tail. She had fish's gills on either side of her neck.)dragging her deeper into the water.

Mary struggled as much as possible, she was losing oxygen fast. Then, she thought of a solution, she opened her mouth, letting all her remaining oxygen go and bit the experiment hard on the hand.

Mary could hear her scream and felt her hand release her wrist. Mary quickly swam up with her last few strength but was caught by a pink, cold and long tongue around her body.

Her hands and legs were wrapped up by the tongue so she couldn't swim. She looked behind her, her head was spinning and her vision was blurring but she could tell the girl was the one who trapped her.

She was putting up a fight until she was at her limits. She stopped struggling and she was now semi-conscious. Before her eyes closed down, she saw a huge silhouette twice the size of her. It was zooming at her.

Then, unconsciousness overtook her.
