After going to the medication room and getting Lucius's wounded hand patched up, Mary and Lucius decided to head to the pond.
They walked along the corridor leading to the entrance of the mansion. As they reached the staircase to the second floor, they saw the familiar door when they first arrived here.
Mary approached the door while Lucius followed next to her. She touched the old wooden door and a memory of her first arrival here struck her.
She trembled in fear as she recalled the scenes she saw. Lucius noticed and gently placed his hand on hers. Mary flinched and saw Lucius's hand placed on top of hers. She looked up and saw Lucius smiling at her.
Then, he gave a slight hissed as if he was saying "I will always be here with you."
Mary looked up at him, shocked. Then, switched her shocked expression into a smile.
Thank you for always staying by my side.Mary thought.
"Let's head out!"Mary said to Lucius.
Mary pushed open the door and both of them stepped out into the ground. They were greeted once again by the familiar yellow sky and rusty steel gate.
Mary looked up at the sky and saw something wafting through the air. She knew it was the creature she saw the first moment she arrived.
The silhouette of the creature was getting bigger and bigger and Mary knew something was wrong.
The creature's face was now in sight. It was really the enormous angler fish and it was opening its mouth ready to devour them.
"Run!" Mary yelled to Lucius.
Lucius glanced up and slithered to his right. He slithered away as quickly as he could and glanced back to see if Mary was alright.
When he looked back, he saw Mary was a few inches away from the angler's mouth. He felt his heart pounding loudly as he quickly slithered to Mary.
He stretched out his hand while Mary did the same. Lucius managed to grab hold of her hand and pulled her to him in time before the creature bites down.
Mary's cheek was pressed against his chest as he pulled her to him.
Then, he sank his claws into the creature's eyeball and tore it. He opened his mouth widely, revealing his deadly fangs and hissed fiercely at it.
The creature let out an ear-piercing cry before flying away. Lucius glanced down and saw Mary safe in his hand. Then, he glanced back up to look at it.
Unfortunately, the creature came diving down again, angrily, wanting Lucius to pay the price. Lucius threw Mary on his shoulder and slithered swiftly, heading towards the side of the mansion.
Mary was holding back her scream as she saw the creature dashing towards them, she wanted to scream but she knew it would hurt Lucius's ears. She kept quiet while Lucius desperately rushed to the side of the mansion.
As they were getting closer, there was a wooden door fence. Lucius crashed the door fence and both of them were flung to the ground.
Mary and Lucius looked back to see the creature withdrawing and flying back into the air. Mary sighed in relief while Lucius hissed.
Mary looked at him and he indicated his injured finger to something behind her. Mary noticed his injured hand was bleeding again, ignoring what he was pointing at.
"Your hand!" Mary shouted in shock."Why is it bleeding again!?"
Lucius looked at his hand and hissed at Mary.
"Don't tell me you use your injured hand to harm the experiment!"
Lucius avoided Mary's eyes and rubbed the back of his neck, using his unharmed hand.
Mary stared at him, stunned, knowing what he meant by his reaction. He kept peeking at Mary like a frightened boy knowing he did something wrong.
Mary saw his reaction and sighed.
"How are we going to repatch your wound now?"Mary asked him, trouble."Is there a piece of cloth around?"
She turned her head behind and saw a pond. She gasped, shocked that the paper was true. There were a pile of big grey rocks next to the pond and a pebble trail leading to the pond too.
"The paper didn't lie! There really is a pond next to the mansion."
Lucius hissed, giving her a response while also feeling astonished.
"Want to walk around to see what we're here for? The paper gave us an instruction to come here anyway and we could wash your injury too."
Lucius nodded and both of them walked on the pebble trial towards the pond.
