Mary was shocked when Lucius suddenly grabbed her by the wrist. Lucius's sharp, gold, threatening pupil stared at her until he realized it was Mary. His pupil immediately turned round and innocent.
He stared at Mary for a while and turned his gaze to his hand, which was tightly gripping her wrist. He hastily removed his hand and bowed down, apologetically. His fluffy dog ears were slid behind and his tail lowered down, sadly.
Mary, who was rubbing her sore wrist saw Lucius's action and gave a gentle chuckle.
He's big and dangerous but why is he so cute and innocent? How lucky I am to get to see this other side of him instead of his merciless form.
Mary couldn't withstand his cuteness and patted him on the head.
"It's alright, Lucius. It doesn't even hurt that much."Mary said in a soft and calming voice.
Lucius looked up at her and smiled then suddenly he looked alert. He glanced around and saw the lifeless experiment on the floor. He switched his gaze to Mary and slithered around to observe her.
"What?" She asked, confusedly before Lucius hissed in pain while grabbing his abdomen.
"I just stitched your wound. I'm sorry, it must be painful but I don't have any painkillers for you."
Lucius saw the sadness in her eyes and gave a gentle smile as if it didn't hurt. But it was obvious that it hurt as his hands were still clinging to his abdomen.
Mary looked at him in the eyes worriedly before she gazed around for any more experiments.
"Lucius."She called in an uncomfortable tone." Umm...do you hear any sound around us?"
Lucius silently glanced around, his ears twitching while listening to the sound around them. His eye was sharp and focused even so Mary can't help but stare at his adorable fluffy ears.
She smiled, softly and Lucius noticed. He tilted his head to the side and Mary flinched when she knew she was caught.
Was I that obvious? Oh well never mind. Let's just change the topic.
"So? Do you hear anything?" Mary quickly asked.
He nodded and glanced around the place. Mary began to feel uneasy and felt a shiver up her spine.
"Can you stand, Lucius? I think we should head to a safer place instead of staying in plain sight."
Lucius nodded while using his hand to push him on his tail. He was swaying left and right before falling onto Mary. Mary felt a huge force land on her but suddenly the weight was gone. Lucius was holding onto the handrail while looking at Mary with concern.
"I'm fine."Mary replied, joyfully when she saw his looks. She was trying to convince him, she was alright."You didn't even hurt me or crash me onto the floor. Quit worrying and go."
Mary walked past Lucius and went to stand in front of a door. Lucius turned to look at Mary and instantly let go of the handrail. He looked hurried as if he was afraid that Mary would be eaten without him by her side.
His injured body wasn't ready for him to move, causing him to immediately fell to the floor without moving from his spot.
"Lucius!" Mary yelled in fear as she dashed to him.
Luckily, Lucius's instinct took in and he managed to block himself from the fall, using his arm.
"Why didn't you prepare before you let go!? You would have badly damaged your wounds again!"
Even after hearing Mary's scolding, he didn't care about himself. He quickly held Mary into a hug and Mary's face turned full red.
"What are you doing!?"She yelled in embarrassment while trying to break free from his grasp.
He soon let go of Mary while blushing slightly and gave her a hiss. Mary's head was full of question marks when he hissed but decided to ignore it cause they have made too much noise. They need to move fast since Lucius did say he heard something.
"Can you stand, Lucius? I know you are in a lot of pain but we really need to go!"Mary said in a rushing tone.
Since Lucius's body was weak, he didn't try to stand up again. Instead, he decided to crawl to the nearest door. Mary understood his movement and rushed to the door for him to enter.
He crawled in and lay tiredly on the floor, he didn't even have the strength to pull his tail in. Mary pushed his big, heavy tail in and closed the door. They were in a room full of paintings, pictures and a ton of trophies.
This must be some kind of achievement room but the place was ruined with blood and scratched marks everywhere. Mary sat on the floor next to Lucius's tail, tiredly.
She looked at Lucius, who was awake a while ago fell into a deep slumber. Mary approached him and sat next to his face, observing his bandaged body and eye. She then reached out her hand and stroked his silky, white hair, unintentionally.
When she noticed her actions, she immediately withdrew her hands and blushed. She glanced at Lucius's face again and he was still sleeping soundly, not caring about anything around him.
It's hard to see him so defenseless. He must have been exhausted.
Unexpectedly, a sound from outside caught her attention. She leaned in the door and listened, attentively. It sounded like someone was talking out.
Curiosity overtook Mary and before she could stop herself. She opened the door. Two people were standing outside and judging by their height they seemed like kids.
Mary's senses came back after seeing the two silhouettes. Luckily, she managed to close the door in time before they saw her. She tried to calm down her breathing as she heard the footstep becoming louder.
"I thought this door just opened...but I guess it's just my imagination."Mary heard a girl's voice talking.
"I don't know, I didn't see anything..."Another girl's voice came in.
Mary silently listened to their conversation while covering her mouth, trying her best not to breathe.
Please just go already! She prayed in her mind.
It really happened...
After a few seconds, footsteps can be heard walking further away from the door and then soon fell into silence.
Mary released her hands from her mouth and breathed freely.
"Good thing, they decided to leave...I couldn't hold it in any longer."Mary sighed while leaning on the door, tiredly.
I guess I should take a nap. She thought as she looked at Lucius's peaceful face.
"Good night..." She whispered while slowly closing her eyes.
