I AM A MESS

Vivian sits on the couch with her eyes looking so lifeless. Was leaving Ella really the right thing to do? How is she coping now? How did she react when she saw the note I left her? All these questions travels round her mind.

There, she sits looking at nothing in particular but her eyes fixed on the wall. Everything was in a very good state except her, the room Is a very big one with a large comfy bed and nice paintings on the wall.

As planned, she and Andrew had left Burundi for another country and was currently in hotel pending the time they would get an apartment.

In the room, Vivian is alone. She thinks about everything decision she made days ago, won't she later regret her actions? She agreed to elope with a murderer she met barely three months ago, leaving Ella all by herself. Ella, the daughter of Alex of all people.

What should I do? Should I leave this place now and go back to Ella? What if she had poisoned herself to death or done something very drastic? Vivian asks herself as she rolls her eyes in a lot of confusion.

Again, Vivian remembers how she met Alex. Many years ago, she was about 11 years old then. It was on a Tuesday, she was coming back from school with a lot of bruises on her face and body, holding a lot of tears back in her eyes, she had concluded on killing herself when she gets home, she doesn't want to keep living like this, she was deep in this thought when a black car stopped very close to her.

She never expected anyone in a black car to look for her or want to have a conversation with her, so when the car stopped very close to her she still continues walking. Thinking of how life was miserable and so unfair to her. Coming from a very poor family wasn't enough, she still get bullied by some people in school. Vivian really had no idea on what angered those people about her so much. Maybe it was the fact that she was on scholarship.

She continues her journey to her bearing when she heard someone trying to call for her attention.

"Hello young girl." Alex calls.

There was no other young girl around that environment, so it was obvious the caller was trying to get her attention. Vivian looks back and saw a heavily pregnant woman. "Good afternoon ma'am, how may I be of help to you?"

"Come closer." Alex orders using her left palm to demonstrate.

The young girl was somehow confused, why is that well to do woman trying to talk to her. "Okay ma." Vivian says and moves closer to Alex.

"Where are you coming from?" Alex asks.

The question sounded so stupid, she had her school uniform on. The uniform was clearly stating the fact the that she was either going to school or coming from school. Vivian looks at Ella scornfully then looks at her school uniform before answering. "I am coming from school."

"Then why do you have bruises all over you?"

Vivian looks at the heavily pregnant woman standing in front of her again, but this time around with confusion. Did she really alight from her car to ask her this? Since when did rich people care about the less privileged? "I fell in school today." She lies.

"Where did you fall?" Alex asks again.

"Who are you? And why do you care so much about me? What will you do if I told you what really happened? It's not as if you would take my sides anyways so why the questions?"

"I knew it!" Alex exclaims.

"Knew what?"Vivian asks again.

"You are a victim of bully aren't you? Some of your school mates bully you right?"

She was absolutely right, but you know one thing about victims of bully is they would never speak up on time or easily. "What are you talking about? I am not a victim of bully, I just fell in school today." Vivian says as she turns her back in order to end the conversation but Alex held her hand and it somehow stopped her from going. "What are you doing? Let me go."

"If you don't stand to your feet and say no to your defeat, you will live the rest of your life in fear anytime those people get close to you. Do you know bully can lead to depression and depression kills?"

Alex words ran around her vain, did Alex know she planned on killing herself? However, those words gave her hope. "Will you save me?" Vivian asks with tears gushing off her eyes.

"You are saved already my dear." Alex says with a smile releasing g Vivian's hand that she had held earlier. "Lets go back to your school and see your principal."

"No, I don't want to go there anymore. Just take me to another school and pay my school fees. My parents are so poor that they can't afford to give me education. I am currently on scholarship in that school." Vivian tries to explain with more tears.

"You won't leave that school, instead you would fight those bullies and i will support you in that."

That was how Alex saved her life that day, she was a very nice and kind woman. Standing up for people was what Ella inherited from her.

Vivian thinks about it again, is this thing she is doing right? "No, this is not right, i have to go see Ella." She whispers to herself and stands up moving to her belongings when Andrew walks in.

"My love, what is wrong with you?" Andrew asks.

"Ella, i want to see Ella." Vivian whispers and starts weeping profusely. All her partner could do is to give her a hug. Still in the embrace and her eyes caught the mirror, she sees herself and murmurs. "I am a mess."
