MAKE UP

Shamim walks out of the bathroom with a towel tied around his waist and he dries his hair with another. "Nothing feels good like having a nice and cool bath. After a lot of stress, hustle, and bustle during the day, a long nice bath will make you feel better and calm your nerves." He says to no one in particular, then sits on his bed and picks up his hair brush which he had placed on the small drawer close to his bed and starts brushing his hair when his phone rings. "At this time, who is calling me?" He asks himself and feels very reluctant as his mind quickly flashes to the current incident his family is facing at the moment. "Oh God! I just hope it is not that Jessica girl." He hopes and picks up his phone. He stares at the caller ID for some seconds, though it is not saved up but with no doubt he is very sure that it is Cassandra's number. "This has got to be some sort of mistake." He drops his phone on the bed and continues brushing his hair. The phone continues to ring and it last a while, but when the phone finally stops Shamim sighs thankfully. "Thank goodness." He stands to take a look at himself through the mirror but he is very shocked to hear that his phone is ringing again. "Maybe the call wasn't a mistake." He murmurs to himself and picks up his phone then answers the call. "Hello." He whispers looking at the mirror and solemnly admiring his amazing body with his eyes.

"Hi sweetheart." Cassandra says in her sweetest voice.

"Sweetheart you say?" he asks and chuckles. "Even when we were together, you have never for once called me that."

"I know shamim and that is why I am calling you to make things up with you."

Shamim sits on the bed to enjoy the conversation well. "Make things up you say?"

"Of course I do, or don't you want to make up with me?" Cassandra asks.

"Look, are you sure you are not under some sort of duress or pressure to say these things you are saying? Or is someone forcing you?"

"I am sure you know no one can force me to do what I don't want to do."

Shamim sighs. "So what are you saying now?" He asks not too sure if what his ex girlfriend is trying to do.

"I just want us to start from where we stopped, I really miss you and those things we do together."

"Where is all this coming from? You acted like you didn't care when I asked for a breakup and that attitude of yours almost ruined me, and here you are again claiming to want to make things up."

"Shamim." Cassandra calls sweetly. "I know I haven't been on my best behavior those days I have been with you but please give me a second chance and I promise to make you happy this time around."

"I am so sorry, I can't. Even when we were in a relationship, I was the only one investing in us and doing the most. It was as if I was forcing myself on you. I wouldn't want that to happen again."

"I promise to work on that too, just forgive me and take me back please." She pleads with a tone of sincerity.

Shamim sighs. "Alright, I will give you a call tomorrow morning so we can talk and set up a date."

"Alright, I will be expecting your call." Cassandra says and hangs up.

He holds his phone still surprised at what just happened, he never had expected Cassandra to call and try to make things up with him. "Maybe she is changed for good, just as she claims to." He says and is about to drop his phone when his sister walks in with a bottle of Pringles in one hand and a bottle of fruit juice in another hand. "You should learn to knock Ella."

Ella walks to her brother ignoring his remark and drops what she is holding on the drawer then sits close to him on the bed making sure her junks is just a hand stretch reach from her. "Why are you holding your phone?" She asks squeezing some Pringles in her mouth.

"What sort of question is that? Must I have a particular reason before I can hold my phone?" He asks and says. "Even if I have, must I tell you the reason why?"

"Well, it's your choice." Ella shrugs her shoulders and sips some of her juice.

"Honestly, you won't believe who called me just now." Shamim says and drops his phone already sounding serious.

"Who is that." She asks not paying full attention to what her brother is saying and just enjoying her junks.

"Cassandra."

Ella stops chewing on her Pringles and her face changes. "Why is she calling you?"

"She wants to make things up I guess." Shamim smiles. "She actually sounds serious and remorseful on the phone."

"It isn't sitting well with me but I do not really have a say when it comes to your love life." She stands and holds her junks. "You are man enough to make certain decisions yourself, the ball is in your court."

"Look at how worked up you are all because of Cassandra."

"Worked up because of that girl?" She asks and scoffs. "I am not but I don't just like the fact that you almost put her over everyone of us in this house."

"Come on Ella, she said she is sorry and is ready to make it up to me again."

"After leaving you, then she realizes you are so worthy?" Ella smiles and continues. "This girl doesn't love you at all Shamim, if she truly loves you, she wouldn't have to leave you before knowing your worth."

"So what do you want me to do now?" He asks again.

"I don't know, it's left to you. But just respect the fact that no one in this house likes her."
