BODIES

"Look who is here!" Lola says with a lot of happiness.

"Good afternoon ma'am." Eric greets with a lot of smiles too. "I hope you feel much more better now."

"Yes, all thanks to you for rescuing my daughter." She holds his hands. "Thank you"

"Pleass do not mention, Ella is like a daughter to me also, I can never sit back and watch her be in danger when I know I can surely be of help."

"I do not like how you are holding hands with my wife, man." Malik cuts in and drops a bottle of wine on the table. "I can get you arrested for that."

Eric quickly releases his hands from Lola's. "Forgive me sir." He apologizes with smiles.

Though, Malik appears to be joking but no one can deny the fact that he doesn't joke with his wife for a bit. All through her term as a governor, he was her right hand man, her body guard to be precise. Anywhere you find Lola, her husband will surely be standing by her right hand side. "Why were you holding my wife?" He asks and sips down a bit of the wine in the tumbler and goes over to his wife.

The couple standing by each other made Eric smiles broadly. "You both are a match made from heaven."

"You always admire the relationship between us, don't you think it's time for you to get a wife too. I mean, just because your wife divorced you doesn't mean you shouldn't move on." Malik advices still sipping down his wine bit my bit.

"Please, let's not talk about remarrying today, I've got three kids to look after already, what more do I want."

"You still need a woman, your eldest daughter might not find it very easy to tell you a lot of things." Lola says and folds her arms. "Have you forgotten she called Ella when she had her first period?" She asks and Eric shakes his head shyly. "Ella might not always be available, but her mom will surely be available for her."

"Alright." Eric nods. "I will put that into consideration."

"You are giving me the same reply again after four years of persuading you to remarry? Aren't you tired of constantly replying me with that particular sentence?"

"I promise this time around, I will make a move on it, believe me." Eric says with a bit of sincerity.

"I'd be right back, let me go check on the kids." Lola excuses herself.

"I want you to do something about the wife issue of a thing." Malik whispers sounding more serious that earlier.

"I hope you all know that forcing me won't make me do what I don't want to do." Eric fumes.

Malik hits his underling's head playfully. "I can match make you with someone if you don't mind."

"I am still not interested sir." He rejects politely and laughs. "How is Ella doing?" He exhales deeply. "She must be mad at me, I haven't gone to the hospital to check on her yet."

"She understands her godfather is a very busy type. Shamim sent me a message some minutes ago that she can now eat."

"Wow! That's so wonderful to hear."

Malik replies and asks almost whispering. "What about the bodies? What have you done to it?"

"Yes, they have been buried just as you instructed."

"It will break my wife's heart into pieces of she finds out they are dead."

"Who died?" Lola cuts in.

"Malik looks slightly above Eric's shoulder and sees his wife standing right behind him. "Heavens! She must have heard all we have been saying." He murmurs beneath his breath.

"Didn't you hear me?" Lola asks and moves closer to them, sounding super scared. "I just asked you a question, who died?" No one answers. "Answer me!"

"Come on Lola, it's about a case we are working on, some bandits were said to have allegedly killed some peo-"

"Liar." She stops her husband. "Do not lie to me, who died?"

"I will be in the other sitting room." Eric whispers and excuses himself, leaving Malik alone to break the terrible news to his wife.

"I already told you, it's a case we are working on." He persists.

"Malik please, just tell me the truth once and for all."

He takes a very deep breath, drops the tumbler and holds his wife's tender hands. "Promise you won't cry."

"I hope my daughter is fine, is anything wrong with Ella?"

"Our daughter is doing fine, once the food is done, we are all going to see her."

"Okay, I promise you I won't. So who died?" She asks again. "Please just tell me and stop leaving me in the dark."

"Jessica and Emerens killed themselves with poison." Malik whispers, his wife tries to let loose of her hands but he didn't allow it, instead he holds on to it tightly. "Remember you made a promise?"

"Malik, can the world just pause a bit for a while?" She asks with her eyes close and tears flowing freely down to her cheeks and dropping on the floor. "Can time just stop so I can take in all of these one at a time?"

He embraces his wife with his lips placed gently on her forehead. "Time won't stop and the world won't pause but my arms are always open for you and to you." He whispers calmly.

"I was once responsible for these girls well being, I was once their school principal and they were under my care. But look at what happened, they tried to kill my daughter and even took their own lives." She whispers and the tears continues to flow.

"It's fine sweetheart." He consoles.
