VERY UGLY

Linda closes her eyes in extreme pains, she feels like pouncing on her mom and giving her a very good beating for being that stupid but controls herself and asks again. "So? What happened next?"

"Alex got pregnant again, and Peter told me he was going to keep the baby." Jessie smiles. "I got very furious and made my findings well. Then it got dawn on me that Peter had no plans or intentions of divorcing Alex later, he was just enjoying his time with two different women and staying happy. So, I punished him for being a terrible monster."

"And you killed Alex with her pregnancy too?"

"Yes." Jessie nods. "I know, I am a terrible person. But at least, I successfully punished those who treated me bad."

"Accepted, Peter was a monster that truly deserved to be mauled. But what did Ella's mom and grandparent do to deserve that sort of death from you?"

Jessie laughs maniacally and whispers. "That is why you have to be careful when you act, if anything goes wrong, everyone around you might pay dearly for it."

"The deed has been done already, And for once in ten years I can finally understand your pains and why you took over the hospital b-"

"Everything going on in that hospital was my idea from the very onset." She says interrupting her daughter. "All the technological ideas, promotional ideas and how to treat the staffs well so that they can stay loyal to the hospital was all my idea. He used my sense of reasoning to become successful, and he decided to pay me back with that much evil."

"Live the rest of your lives atoning for your sin, repent unto God and be free from all shackles." Linda whispers ignoring her mom's words.

"Will that give me the peace of mind I have been denied for twenty four years?" She asks with her eyes filled with tears.

"It should." Linda nods and smiles. "I wish we can live as a happy family, I just wish to have a normal life like every other kid out there. But I think being happy isn't my thing."

Jessie stares at her daughter for about ten seconds without uttering any words, then she stands, holding her glass of alcohol in one hand and the novel in the other hand. "I wish you both a safe trip to India." She whispers and walks away from her daughter heading to the guest room where she have been sleeping for days now and meets her husband on the way. He had obviously heard all she said to her daughter, but Jessie chose not pay any attention to him and just walk past him.

Paul walks to his daughter and sits close to her. "Are you flustered?"

"A lot father." She replies and buries her face in both palms.

"So am I, but I think the only think we can do is forget about the past and just move on. We have been mean to her enough, haven't we?"

Linda removes her face from her palms and faces her father. "Do you really think we can live happily?"

"We once lived like that." He replies shrugging his shoulders. "For the first thirteen years of your life."

"She never loved you, have you forgotten?" She asks to remind her father. "Don't forget how she tried to poison my mind towards you, telling me you don't care about us but your ex lover. She even asked me to bully Ella back then in school."

"Yes! Ella!" Paul exclaims and smiles broadly. "Did she get the best student prize again this term?" He asks but didn't get an answer. "Don't tell me you are being jealous again, don't forget you do better next term too, just keep reading and put in your best."

"His memory is off again." Linda mutters to herself and smiles back at her father.
