28. Two Killers

The woman pushed open the iron gate and then got back into the car. After being in front of the house, she did not close the gate and went straight into the house.

Jasper and Zalina didn't see the face of the woman who entered Mr. Stuart's house. However, from her posture, the woman was about 160 cm tall, thin, and had short, shoulder-length curls.

"Jasper, that looks like the woman I saw when I touched Mrs. Gloria's hand. She was the maid who found Mrs. Gloria when she was dead." Zalina said with narrowed eyes.

"Are you sure?"

"Yes, I'm sure. Even though I don't see her face clearly but her stature is the same," replied Zalina, nodding.

Jasper then opened the car door, and Zalina then held his hand.

"Jasper, where are you going?"

"I'll take another look inside. I wonder what she's doing in that empty house."

"I'll come with you. Now I don't have to climb that fence."

Jasper and Zalina finally got out of the car and sneaked into Mr. Stuart's house. They walked to the side of Mr. Stuart's house, observing the situation through the window.

"She's not there. Is she upstairs?" Zalina asked Jasper in a whisper.

"We have to get into in house. Come on!" Jasper pulled Zalina's arm to follow him.

However, before they entered, they heard the sound of a car entering the yard. The car stopped right behind the woman's car. Jasper and Zalina were forced to hide behind the large flowerpot, watching with great vigilance.

An older man got out of the car, coughing. Not long after, the woman came out of the house.

"How have you prepared what I asked for?" asked the man.

"Yes, all right. We have to move quickly before midnight."

The man entered the house, and the woman, identified as Mrs. Gloria's maid, ran to close the gate and then went back into the house.

Jasper and Zalina watched them from outside, then entered the house carefully. While inside the house, Jasper saw the servant heading to the back garden. The two of them followed Mrs. Gloria's maid.

In the back garden, they saw a fairly large hole had just been dug. The man noticed the hole and was dissatisfied with the woman's work.

"This hole is not deep enough to bury the body. I'm afraid wild animals will smell it and attract their attention." The man then took a hoe to dig the hole deeper.

Zalina, who was hiding, held her breath from shaking. She was looking at the killer of Mrs. Gloria, who was intent on burying the poor woman's body. However, Jasper and Zalina had not seen Mrs. Gloria's body there.

"Jasper, they're still hiding Mrs. Gloria's body."

"We'll see it in a minute."

"I was so nervous I couldn't breathe."

Jasper then turned and saw Zalina's pale face. Even though she had seen various ways someone died, Jasper was sure that this was the first time Zalina had seen a case of homicide.

Jasper took Zalina's hand. "Hold my hand, and you're not facing it alone. We're going to uncover this, and we're doing the right thing, so you don't have to be afraid."

Zalina felt calmer when Jasper's warm hand gripped her. Zalina smiled as she watched their clasped hands. She assumed the man's hand was created to save her.

After a while, the two finished digging deep enough into the ground. The servant and the man entered the house, where Jasper and Zalina were still hiding behind the door. Fortunately, the back door of the house is wide enough so that it can be used as a hiding place.

Zalina couldn't see anything because she was at the corner of the door. Only the sound of footsteps and small talk from the two assassins could be heard. Jasper peered carefully through the door.

Finally, Jasper could see Mrs. Gloria's plastic-wrapped corpse removed from a locked refrigerator. Mrs. Gloria's body was curled up like a baby. They dragged the big plastic to the back garden.

Zalina and Jasper saw Mrs. Gloria's body stuffed into the hole that had been dug. The maid and the man immediately covered Mrs. Gloria's corpse with dirt. Once covered, they trample on it so that the ground becomes solid.

When they were almost done, Jasper took Zalina out of the house before the two killers realized that someone else was aware of their actions.

Jasper and Zalina got back into the car, panting.

"Jasper, what are we going to do? Should we report it to the police?" asked Zalina.

"We're going to report this because they need to be punished, but not now."

Zalina didn't understand what Jasper meant. "Why? We can't allow any more victims for their crimes. I've already told you what I saw when I touched Mr. Stuart."

"Of course, we have to stop it."

Zalina then saw Mrs. Gloria's maid come out of the house first but didn't get into the car because her car was blocked by the man's car. The maid then looked at Jasper's car, which was still parked in front of Mr. Stuart's house. She went back into the house.

Finally, they came out of the house. The servant opened the gate. However, they did not immediately get into the car. They walked slowly toward Jasper's car.

"Jasper, how come they seem to suspect us? They're approaching!" Zalina started to panic.

Jasper immediately pulled Zalina into his arms. "Relax! Pretend you never saw anything."

"Jasper, what are you...!"

Zalina was stunned because Jasper lowered one of the straps of the dress from Zalina's shoulder. Not only that, Jasper kissed Zalina's lips wildly, making the woman stunned by the sudden attack.

Knock... Knock... Knock...

The car window was knocked from the outside.

Jasper pulled his lips and stared at Zalina for a few seconds, then caressed her cheek. Zalina seemed to want to faint right then and there, her stomach tightened, and her brain felt frozen. Jasper had stolen the first kiss from the innocent, holy girl.
