Max's POV
I did not talk to Alysa for a few days. I was frustrated. I called her and I sent out messages to her. I really hate being ignored. I hate suspense in the same way. How could she go somewhere without informing me?
We have been close for a while. I love her demeaning perseverance towards her life, her experiences, and her job.
I suddenly got a message. It was from my assistant.
Hello Sir,
You missed a call from Alysa. She wanted to speak to you and it sounded urgent. She was hoping you were around and you would call back.
Alysa?
The lady I have been looking for for a long while. I became restless. After I got off the plane I started thinking about what to do next. I decided to text my assistant.
Thank you, I will be back soon. Please can you send the number to me? I will be waiting.
Thanks again.
A few minutes later, I received another text message. The number was in my inbox and I quickly copied it.
I decided to stop by a coffee shop. I took an order while trying to dial the number I received from my assistant.
I called the number and the supporting actress picked up. She told me her name was Malie. I started asking about Alysa. She told me she was Alysa's friend.
That is when it all started.
We were in the Tribe of Anastia. We had to bring up a solution after Malie told me Alysa is in trouble.
I was worried about her and I was going to meet her.
I was told that Alysa was going to get married and she was treated badly. I also got to know she was restricted in a weird room.
I was feeling so bad especially when I was angry that she did not bother to reach out after she left the office. It did not occur to me that she must have gotten into serious trouble. I felt bad.
I finally understood the whole situation—I guessed.
Coincidentally, I was attending Jeremy's wedding. I was ready to attend his wedding—He was the Alpha after all.
I was still wondering why she didn't call, or try to reach out earlier. I knew Alsa would have informed me that Jeremy was getting married. Everything was becoming complicated. The more Malie spoke to me over the phone about it, the more confused I became.
"Why did she tell me herself?" I said to myself.
I was confused again after it felt like I understood.
It then dawned on me that Alysa was kidnapped. I decided to attend the wedding.
I had to see Malie first.
***
I waited for her beside my favorite coffee shop. I thought it would be better to discuss it over a cup of coffee.
After some minutes of ordering my coffee, she arrived.
"Hey! I'm Malie." She said nicely.
"You can call me Max. Nice to meet you Malie." I said as I offered her a seat. I called the waitress to take an order.
"Yes Sir," the waitress said.
"A cup of coffee with some cream topping, please?" I said.
"On it, Sir." The waitress said and walked away.
"Oh damn, you didn't need to."
"I'm very much okay," Malie said.
"Oh no, I feel I should. We may stay here for a while and I feel it's necessary. It's my first time meeting you, we have only been talking over the phone." I replied.
"Oh, you are such a gentleman. Thank you!"
Malie smiled.
I was very impressed with the way Malie was concerned about Alysa. Alsa rarely keeps friends. It is something I don't want to think about at the moment. I had a good time sipping my coffee while listening to the plans of going to Jeremy's wedding ceremony.
Malie was intelligent and quite observant.
"I can't believe he did that to Alysa," Malie said.
I started nodding because I didn't expect much from Jeremy—Not that at least.
Alysa's POV
Of all things I expected, the least I thought of came true. I was in the waiting room for some time. Nothing was going on and I could not leave the room either.
In Jeremy's words.
"Do as I say."
There was a knock on the door. It was totally weird to me cause there was no one here that would patiently knock on the door. There was no privacy but there was isolation.
I just knew it was someone I wasn't expecting. The doorknob turned down as my thoughts were escalating by the second.
" Who is that? Huh?" I asked with fear in my voice. Everything they did here would be scary because it is never something you will wish for. They were heartless.
There was no answer, but the door was open.
I just faced down at the door. I looked at the shoes and I was too curious to see who they were.
I quickly looked up.
DAMN!
"Max!!!" I shouted after seeing him. It has been a long while in this doom. I started feeling relieved. I saw hope and I knew there would be a chance to escape. It was something I have been longing for while I stayed here.
"Alysa? What happened to you?" Max asked.
He came with a woman. I then knew it was Malie. She was the only one who paid listening ears to my story, how I felt, and what I needed to know. Even though she had doubts about me being interested in Jeremy, I still considered her a blessing. Without he r, I would have seen Max today.
"Malie, I know this is your work."
"Thank you for helping out, damn. I am so speechless right now. I don't know what to do. I'm lost and happy." I said while becoming nervous. Malie was surprised. I guess she saw authenticity in that display. It was not something… I mean it wasn't in my place to worry about that.
"It's cool." She bluntly replied while smiling.
"I hope Jeremy will not come in here because we jusrealizeded the door could not be locked from inside, but outside."
"Is that another of his strategies?" Malie asked.
"I don't care anymore."
I stood up from my chair. My butt was sore after sitting there for a long time. It didn't bother me because all I could think about was escaping. My body was sore, my eyes were swollen and baggy. Thmakeupup did a good cover—a good job.
"C'mon. Why are you all dressed in this attire?"
"Haha! This is really hilarious" Max said while staring at me.
"Please, Max. Please—"
"I haven't asked for anything from you before. I just have one request. I have been praying and begging for a chance. I need to leave this place," I started begging him.
I refused to give him a chance to talk and I needed to convince him to help me. These people absolutely didn't know what I was going through. After my experience with Melie, I could miss another chance.
"Please. This man has treated me badly. I stayed in a room with high windows and small doors. I could even see the sunlight on my own. He mistreated me. Just get me out of here. Please––" I begged. I waited for his reaction. I wanted to see what he was going to do about everything.
"This is really hilarious.C'mon, aren't you gonna see this with me?" Max replied.
My hands felt like they were frozen, because how did it get this cold? It felt like I was going to have an anxiety attack.
" You don't want to be his luna?" He asked again.
I was astonished.
"What do you all take Jeremy for? A good guy? A gentleman? Huh?"
"What is so interesting about being married to such a crazy freak, huh?" I was angry. I deserved to be angry. I did not understand why I was begging Max to get out and he is still doubting me. I felt like everyone's mind was poisoned against me.
"You all must be kidding me right now!" I said.
Malie walked towards Max. It looked like she wanted to talk to Max. I was praying too.
"Max,I asked her the same question. I asked her why she wanted to leave and why didn't want to marry Jeremy," Malie said. I started calming down a little bit. Max was paying attention to Malie.
"She is not interested in being with Jeremy." Malie said. Finally, it was just the sentence I was looking for.
"I just want to get out of here. Out of this place immediately, please––" I added immediately.
"We have a plan. There is no time to tell you about the whole plan now. We would only tell you about your part." Melie said.
