"You didn't even knock before coming and I feel like getting angry at you right now." I bluntly said.
She was nervous and I could see it. I wondered why explaining herself would make her nervous. She used her hands to wipe her face.
"I really wanna act like you right now. I want to start invading you for invading my privacy."
I said. I was becoming pissed off.
"Oh, my love. I'm sorry for the way I reacted. I'll try to understand you next time," She said nicely. I did not want to drag things further with her. I paid attention to everything she said. I didn't know how to feel about the whole situation. The conditions I found explained why I was feeling depressed sometimes. I always tried to remind myself I'm living under another person's roof.
Alysa's POV
Apart from the fight…Let me call it an argument. Apart from the argument I had with her the other day, the rest of the memories I had with Malie were beautiful.
I had no one to spend time with. Max became tough on his duties as the Editor-in-Chief of the newspaper company. There was a rivalry there and it had to be settled as soon as possible. I made sure I prepared lunch for him to take and dinner for him before he turns.
Unpaid wifely duties.
I started to learn a lot about how he ate and what he liked. There were not many reasons to doubt him at his place of work. But one thing was sure, we weren't communicating like we usually did after our first kiss.
I missed running away from an Enemy. I still found it hard to believe it. I decided to have a conversation with everyone at home today. I was planning on doing it when they are settled just to catch the full details of the story.
But I wondered what I was going to say if I was asked about my family. I was complaining to myself earlier that Max isn't coming toward me anymore. He usually returned, showered, ate dinner or he switched between the three things. It was becoming extremely boring.
I started with Malie. She was becoming so close to me recently. Since I got to know she was with Jeremy first and from what it looked like she wanted to be his Luna, Jeremy didn't reciprocate what Malie felt. Whenever I tried asking her such questions, she acted weird. I was going to try again but I didn't know how to start. Coincidentally, she approached me. I've gotten used to her walking steps and how fast she takes each step.
I was preparing to greet her immediately when she came into the room. It felt weird but I did what I felt like doing even when it wasn't necessary.
"Malie—-!" I called her in style.
"You haven't made lunch yet, so I came to ask what you'll love to take."She went straight to the point.
I gave a surprised look. I was extremely meticulous in doing the household duties especially when I'm done with work. She was always serious about groceries and she took a long time to deal with that. I wanted to be straightforward too. It wasn't needed.
"No Malie, I did not feel like entering the kitchen today. You know it's been a long while since we ordered food. I mean, we have been trying to balance our finances but with that, I have been thinking of having fast food."
"I'm really tired of the homemade food," I added.
After some minutes the food I ordered came in. I tried discussing deep things with her, maybe she would mention the assault and ask how I was dealing with it.
No, she didn't.
I had to bring something totally fake to see her reaction. I trusted my plan.
I started my story:
"I was just thirteen and at some point, it felt like she tried meddling in every part of my life. To me, everything she did was just too much and annoying. I was the happiest after I was admitted to a boarding school. I thought I found freedom, space,e and time to do my things my own way. It was a gloomy day with faint curiosity all at the same time. " I said while looking at her, paying attention to me.
"Later on, I got a letter from home and it was the least I expected. She died. It was then it dawned on me that I'd lost, and I will never get it again. She always watched after I loved her and advised me even when all I threw at her was my attitude. She gave me attention and I fed her with my attitude which resembled a glass of juice but when tasted, it was horribly bitter."
I continued. The food arrived and we arranged it and She started eating.
"She woke me up on time and made breakfast and dinner which had a unique space on my taste buds. She continuously lashed out at her critics on my prepared meal during lunch."
So many memories created beads of sweat on my forehead and lumps of tears in my eyes. I never appreciated her and now she's dead. The regret was too bad to handle. I visited home but this time around, the house was empty because the light of the house was gone."
The whole story was all about sadness, and regret. pain and loss. I had to act it all up and so she would open up to me too. I was surprised when she didn't react. I remembered I told Malie I was adopted. I was waiting for her reaction, so I grabbed some food too.
"I cried breathlessly when I saw her dead body lying peacefully. I was too proud to realize all the good things and upbringing She laid on me. It made me realize why she kept a diary, it was a wonder. I poured my gratitude on her. She was lifeless but my gratitude reminded me of hope. I thanked her for everything."
"Today, I'll be turning eighteen. I admire her favorite picture before going to bed and I read her diary over and over again. There was tons of wisdom in there and ever since then I always appreciated and showed gratitude to anyone. No matter how small the deed was and the profit was massive."
