" It could be peace, happiness, and more good favors just for showing my gratitude and it felt like I was on cloud nine. I learned the hard way. I love my Grandma and I always will." I said with food in my mouth.
At some point, I was almost out of pace with the story. I still had to continue with the story.
"She died. I was just thirteen, and at some point, it felt like she was trying to meddle in every part of my life. To me, everything she did was just too much and annoying. I was happiest after I was admitted to a boarding school."
"I thought I had found freedom, space, and time to do my things my own way. It was a gloomy day with a faint curiosity all at the same time. Later on, I got a letter from home, and it was the least I expected. She died. It was then that it dawned on me that I'd lost, and I would never get it again."
"She always watched after I loved and advised me, even when all I threw at her was my attitude. She gave me attention and I fed her with my attitude, which resembled a glass of juice, but when tasted, it was horribly bitter."
She woke me up on time, and prepared breakfast and dinner, each of which had a distinct flavor in my mouth. Throughout lunch, she repeatedly chastised me for my poorly prepared meal. So many memories created beads of sweat on my forehead and lumps of tears in my eyes. I never appreciated her and now she's dead. The regret was too much to handle. I went home again, but this time the house was dark because the light had gone out.
"I cried breathlessly when I saw her dead body lying peacefully. I was too proud to realize all the good things and upbringing she had laid on me. It made me realize why she kept a diary; it was a wonder. I poured my gratitude on her. She was lifeless, but my gratitude reminded me of hope. I thanked her for everything." I finally concluded.
That made me more suspicious of her. She didn't react. She didn't say anything related to the first thing I mentioned. I was extremely scared myself.
"I'm so sorry about that, don't sweat it. Everything will be fine." Malie added.
Max was back and I had to serve him dinner.
I acted like I had no suspicions.
"No, no it's cool," I said while packing the remnants of the food to the kitchen to make dinner for Max.
I started suspecting her since then.
Alysa's POV
I gave myself a little bit of time. I watched how everything went with her. I did the usual in the morning and I could not find Malie in her room.
After making breakfast for Max, I wanted to discuss something very important with him.
After discussing the issue of staying home, I asked Max if I could return to the office to finish some work. I wanted to get his final decision.
As I said earlier on, I had to ask Max
"Hey Max, I wanted to discuss something very important with you," I said.
"Yo! What's the matter? I have to go to work on time."
"I just want to tell you I'll be returning today…ain't gonna come with you though. I will come later." I said confidently.
"Okay, that is totally fine." He said coldly.
He acted weirdly and that didn't suit me.
I noticed something different in the mirror. I saw Malie standing by the door. I was badly confused by the way the two people I lived with acted. I did not understand anything anymore.
Max left for work. I had to get some documents to finish an application for my job. I could not leave Malie alone at home. I took her with me. We dressed up, did our makeup, and went out.
Later on, Malie and I returned from getting the documents needed for the completion of the application for more job opportunities as the other two were unsuccessful.
I opened the door. Malie came behind her and acted perplexed.
"The door is not usually open. I'm wondering why it's open." I said.
"Yeah, that is sort of weird." Malie agreed, frowning.
I sighted Max seated on the sofa. He was drinking some coffee. He did not look happy at all.
"Hey, Max!" I said as she paused for a moment.
"Are you okay? You look perturbed." I said as he dropped his coffee.
Malie ignored everything that was happening. She quietly left us without saying a word. I knew she was going to continue spying.
"Please I don't really know why, but I don't like seeing you this way," I said while holding his hands.
I cared a lot. If it was anything related to Max I would be fully into it.
He got a phone call and left. It was about work.
Malie came back immediately after Max went out. It was like she was close by. It was then I confirmed she was spying on Max and me.
"Don't be sad, he will be fine," Malie said.
"Yeah, I'm just thinking of what to do and how to do it before he returns home," I said as I held Malie's hands.
I was a hundred percent into this acting too like she was.
"I really want to do something different and something that will make him happy," I said.
"So what's keeping you? You should be doing so because Max will soon return home. I mean, it's evening already. Are you expecting him to return home late and be sad again?" Malie said, at least she encouraged me.
Max returned home later and I just made dessert since he had dinner. I wanted to talk about Malie's actions to Max but he was too busy to pay attention to me. I didn't want to disturb you either.
I started becoming nervous about what to do after finding out Malie was spying on both Max and me.
I had a lot of questions. Why should Malie spy on me? Who sent her? Who was She?
These questions lingered in my mind. It was late at night and I honestly felt like bagging into her room. I felt like being direct with her and pointing out all my suspicions about her.
Jessica taught me better, time will tell. I had to leave it for later. I was waiting for the next morning to keep finding new things.
