Chapter 8

Part 2. From Girl to Boy

A waterfowl splashed about flapping its wings. The sunlight reflected in the droplets created a beautiful rainbow over the river. On the ground, new life had sprouted, welcoming the season of rebirth.

Betty anxiously watched from afar as the blond-haired child swam to the deep part of the river.

"My lord!"

She called out for Lia, who didn't seem to have any intention of floating back to the surface.

"Lord Camellius!"

Betty lifted her skirt in preparation to dive in; this wasn't the first time she had to drag the stubborn young lord out of the water. Betty kicked off her shoes and waded into the water just as Lia poked her head out to the surface.

"Ha!"

She brushed back her wet hair and gave Betty a cheerful smile as she waved.

"Betty! Don't do anything silly. I'll be right out."

"My lord, we must get your hair trimmed today! It's also much too early to be swimming like this!"
