"Yeah, the city is flying."
He exhales loudly before kicking the door open and pivoting to aim at the enemies outside of the house.
Back to the bridge, Steve is having a hard time keeping the enemies away from the people alone but he still is able to manage well. If not for two cars stuck on the edge of the broken bridge.
They were parked side by side with one of them being driven by a woman and the other by a man with a passenger. The screams of the woman were immediately heard by Steve, making him swiftly put his shield behind his back as he ran towards the car.
He successfully got hold of the car bumper before it completely went over but because of the weight of the car, the bumper got torn off and the car fell from the sky. Alongside this one, the other car also fell from the sky. Lucky for them, Thor was able to fly just past them and he immediately flew down to save them.
He first went over to the woman, kneeling down on the backrest of the driver seat. He reached out his hand and when she grabbed it he looked up at Steve. With all of his might, Thor lifted and threw the woman up high enough for Steve to grab her hand.
They almost didn't reach so Steve let himself hang off of the edge while holding onto the protruding steel bars. His free hand grabbed the woman's arm.
"I got you!" he said as soon as he gripped her. "Just look at me."
The girl looked up at him before he lifted her a little and using his other hand he pulled himself up, let go and grabbed at a higher steel bar.
Once he was stable enough, he pulled the girl again and she immediately hugged him tightly while she helped herself get up as well. After she got up on the bridge a robot tried to shoot her.
"You can't save them all," Ultron spoke through the robot.
Steve threw his shield at it, hitting it on the chest. Then he got up with a jump and landed on his feet in front of the robot.
"You'll never-"
With a signal of his left hand, his shield was pulled back towards him. Getting magneted on his arm.
"'Never' what?" he asked at the robot that got flung away. "You didn't finish!"
Just then the car which was ridden by two men landed a few feet away from Steve and Thor at the same time landed on the top of the roof of it.
"What, were you napping?" Steve asked Thor after it got down from the hood.
Both of them left the bridge area to fight in another place. While Natasha who was able to arrive at the location now got herself busy with fighting the robots on the ground.
She tumbled down to avoid getting hit by the robot. Using her taser-like stick as a weapon she took down quite a lot of robots too. Plus with Steve and Thor around, she found it easier to fight them.
"Thor!" Ultron called upon descending down and grabbing the god of Thunder. "You're bothering me."
Ultron brought Thor away to the church. Clint at the same hand is still busy fighting with dozens of flying robots. He gets a little help from Loki who is fighting those who aren't airborne.
After shooting an explosive arrow at one of the enemies, Clint got a good hiding spot beside an abandoned car.
"Oww," he said to himself as he was starting to feel the after effects of the battle.
More robots approached his place making it look harder for him to defeat all of them. Luckily, Wanda, who had enough time to think about her decision, finally came out of the house. She's made up her mind and now she's more than willing to help them save the city.
With her emotions managed very well, she threw her magic at the robots nearby before splitting it in half and throwing it at another flying robot. Clint noticed this and for some reason it gave him enough willpower to continue and fight.
With her telekinesis ability and red chaos magic, Wanda easily disseminates three robots coming her way. She and Clint both looked at each other as they saw that those were the last of the enemies. Loki's nowhere to be seen too but his area is cleared of the robots as well.
"Alright, we're all clear here," Clint made the call.
But through the ear piece, Steve disagreed with him.
"We are not clear!" he said, as he hit the enemy in front of him with his shield. Then he pulled it back and launched himself towards it. "We are very not clear!"
"Alright, coming through you," Clint replied to him.
Suddenly Pietro arrived at their place, swiftly picking up Wanda and leaving the place with her. "Keep up, old man!"
Clint was taken aback a little by the after effects of the hyperspeed. He waited for a few seconds before he aimed his arrow at the direction where Pietro and Wanda went.
"Nobody would know," he said. "Nobody.
He released his aim before putting the arrow back on his quiver. Then he started to walk, avoiding the debris on the ground.
"The last I saw him, an Ultron was sitting on him. Yeah, he'll be missed, that quick little bastard," Clint continued to speak while walking. "I miss him already."
Ultron threw Thor down on the church making him hit a pillar and tumble down. Then he landed on his feet, used the magnet of the vibranium to pull a huge piece of stone and hit Thor with it. He also punched him a couple of times.
Arriving at the open area of the city in front of the market, Pietro carefully placed Wanda down who in return immediately used her magic to make a barrier between the police and the robots.
"Hold your fire!" the commander in chief commanded his people.
Wanda released the barrier and instead she used the magic to hit the robots and kill them. Pietro was about to help her when a stray bullet scraped him in the arm. He looked at the wound and at the policeman who shot it. Without any words he showed his disappointment at the guy.
From another part of the area, Steve finally saw Natasha and gave her aid.
"Romanoff!" He threw his shield at her to hit the robot attacking her.
"Thanks." Natasha took the shield and used it to cover herself from the flying robot that fired its weapon at her.
Then she hit it with the shield, consequently dodging its attack before throwing the shield back at Steve who jumped up to get enough force and used the shield to hit the robot and kill it.
Down at the level of the city, Tony is still trying to figure out the solution that they could use to bring the city down without hurting anyone.
"The anti-gravs are rigged to flip," Friday informed him. Making Tony feel a lot more worried and take a lot more burden on his shoulders. "Touch them, they'll go full reverse thrust. The city is not coming down slow."
"Spire is vibranium. If I get Thor to hit it."
"It'll crack. That's not enough. The impact would still be devastating."
"Maybe if we can cap the other end." Tony flew closer to the thrusters to get a better look. "Keep the atomic action doubling back."
"That could vaporise the city," Friday said. "And everyone on it."
Successfully keeping the people inside of establishments and away from the robots, Steve talked to them through the earpiece.
"The next wave is gonna hit any minute. What do you got, Stark?"
"Huh? Nothing great," Tony answered with a hint of uncertainty and fear. Plus he's voice is somewhat soft. "Maybe a way to blow up the city. That'll keep it from impacting the surface if you guys can get clear."
"I asked for a solution, not an escape plan."
"Impact radius is getting bigger every second. We're gonna have to make a choice."
"Cap, these people are going nowhere," Natasha said. "If Stark finds a way to blow this rock."
"Not till everyone's safe," Steve disagreed with her.
"Everyone up here versus everyone down there? There's no math there."
"I'm not leaving this rock with one civilian on it."
"I didn't say we should leave."
Steve let out a sigh before he looked at Natasha and saw her nodding her head at him.
"There's worse ways to go." She looked at the bright blue sky in front of them. "Where else am I gonna get a view like this?"
"Glad you like the view, Romanoff," Fury replied to her from their radio. "It's about to get better."
With that being said, the old S.H.I.E.L.D carrier showed up in the sky. Slowly descending to their level. Even Pietro saw the ship and was astonished at the view of it. He smiled and got himself ready to take the people in the building to the carrier.
"Nice, right?" Fury asked. "Pulled her out of mothballs with a couple of old friends. She's dusty, but she'll do."
"Fury, you son of a bitch," Steve swore at him in amazement.
"Ooh! You kiss your mother with that mouth?" Fury teased him.
"Altitude is 18,000 and climbing," Hill informed them.
"Lifeboats secure to deploy," the computer boy said. "Disengage in three, two... Take them out."
As the lifeboats started to fly to the edges to the city, Nastasha, Steve and Pietro all watched them.
"This is S.H.I.E.L.D.?" Pietro asked.
"This is what S.H.I.E.L.D. is supposed to be," Steve answered.
"This is not so bad." Pietro chuckled.
"Let's load them up," Steve instructed before leading the two to help him.
Since Ultron saw this, he commanded his robots to attack the carrier itself.
"Sir, we have multiple bogies converging on our starboard flank," Hill informed Fury.
"Show 'em what we got," the latter replied.
"You're up," Hill said through her earpiece.
Just after she said that, the robots one by one got hit by bullets. And coming from above them was Rhodes in his War Machine suit.
"Yes! Now this is gonna be a good story," he said before firing at the enemies tailing him.
"Yup. If you live to tell it." Tony suddenly showed up to assist him.
"You think I can't hold my own?"
"We get through this, I'll hold your own."
"You had to make it weird."
They both shot the robots trying to attack the carrier. While down on the city grounds, Steve started loading up the lifeboats with the stranded people.
"I got about 50 to 100 more coming in after this group."
Even in the location of Clint, the lifeboats were able to arrive to load the people up. With his cue, Wanda led the people to get out and on the lifeboats.
"Here we go, here we go, let's move," Clint said.
"Let's go, everyone!" a male police officer assisted them.
"Number 6 boat is topped and locked..." the computer boy in the carrier announced. "Or ah... stocked. Topped... It's ah, full of people."
"Incoming!" Hill shouted as soon as the alarm started to blare and she saw a robot heading towards the carrier window.
"Oh, God!" the boy screamed as he saw the robot crawling towards him.
Hill was fast to recover and immediately shot at the robot multiple times before Fury was able to grab a rather large piece of metal and stabbed the robot in the head with it.
Back at the church, Thor and Ultron's duel hasn't come to an end yet.
"You think you're saving anyone?" Ultron punches Thor and grips his neck with his left hand. "I turn that key and drop this rock a little early and it's still billions dead. Even you can't stop this."
He pulled his hand in mid-air ready to punch the god of Thunder again.
"I am Thor, son of Odin, and as long as there is life in my breast," Thor said before looking at someone from behind Ultron. "I am... running out of things to say! Are you ready?"
Ultron got confused and made him turn around to look at whoever Thor is talking to. He saw that it was Vision and before he could even react, Vision hit him with the Mjolnir, sending him flying away from the church. Thor took his hammer back after he was able to stand up.
"It's terribly well-balanced," Vision commented about the hammer.
"Well, if there's too much weight, you lose power on the swing, so..." Thor explained, even demonstrating what he meant.
"I got it! Create a heat seal," Tony said while flying through all of the robots attacking him and blasting them off. "I could... I could supercharge the spire from below."
"Running numbers," Friday replied to him.
From above them a robot fired at a lifeboat destroying one of its engines. So Tony immediately acted upon it and he held the weight of the lifeboat as he pushed it up, keeping it balanced.
"A heat seal could work with enough power," Friday finally spoke again, finishing with her calculations.
"Thor, I got a plan," Tony said.
"We're running out of time," Thor replied. "They're coming for the core."
"Rhodey, get the rest of the people on board that carrier," Tony instructed.
"On it."
"Avengers, time to work for a living." Tony flew away from the people and he went to the church.
He saw Thor and Vision fighting the robots trying to get to the core. Pietro was the first one who came after Tony, hitting two or more robots. Then Steve came in hitting the robot with his shield. Next were Clint and Wanda who walked through the door. Immediately, Pietro went close to Wanda.
"Are you good?" Pietro asked gently, patting the side of Wanda's arm.
"Yeah," Wanda answered, patting the side of Pietro's torso.
Loki was next to arrive and Thor walked over to him.
"Didn't see you in a while." Thor held his brother's shoulder.
"I've been busy," Loki said.
"Romanoff," Tony called through the earpiece. "You and Banner better not be playing 'hide the zucchini'."
"Relax, shellhead," Natasha said. "Not all of us can fly."
From her place she rode a front loader truck and drove through the army of robots until she arrived at the church.
"What's the drill?" Natasha asked as she stood beside Tony.
"This is the drill." He pointed at the core. "If Ultron gets a hand on the core, we lose."
Hulk was the last one to arrive in the church, smashing the last of the robots there before standing in formation with the Avengers.
Ultron on the same hand descended outside of the church to talk to the Avengers.
"Is that the best you can do?" Thor challenged Ultron.
Because of this, Ultron raised his hand to command the rest of his robot army to come and surround the church.
"You had to ask," Steve disappointedly answered Thor before looking at the latter.
