Going for a Ride

From above it can be seen how huge the effect of the ground moving is. Small dust storms started to form from the boundaries for the piece of land being lifted. It also made a loud rumbling sound as the ground became separated. Most of the people on the flying city kept still to make sure that they wouldn't tumble down and get hurt while others desperately tried to get to the other side of the crack and save themselves before it's too late.

As for Steve, he continued to battle with some of the robots in the bridge before he noticed that they were moving up. Building started to crack in half with the hanging parts falling off from the sky.

"Friday," Tony calls. He's seeing everything from up top and he is hoping that his artificial intelligent assistant has some answer for what is happening right now with them.

"Sokovia is going for a ride," she replies through the suit's system. Even though she is just an artificial intelligence it can be heard from her voice that she is also terrified of the possible outcome this battle would give them.

The city continues to fly while most of the parts on the sides of it keep falling off. Some people who are dangerously close to the edges get unlucky to fall. Hopefully the Avengers are still doing their job keeping the people safe even while they await what's coming next.

Loki most especially, tries his best to keep the civilians away from the streets as there is nowhere else to go. Alongside Pietro, he keeps them inside of a safe place and guards the only entrance of it from Ultron's robots.

"So you're just like us huh?" Pietro asked. Assisting him in fighting. "You were given power, you became the enemy and turned good."

"I'm very different from you," Loki answered him.

"Yeah? How?"

"I'm a god." He then saw an incoming robot so with his agility, Loki used his dagger knife to stab the enemy on the stomach, then on the chest before sticking his knife on one of the eyes. "And I'm an Avenger."

"Alright, if you say so." Pietro scoffed at Loki before using his hyperspeed to leave the place and look for other things to do or other people to assist.

As the lift continued to go higher, the thrusters now became visible to those people down below the city.

"Do you see... the beauty of it?" Ultron asked. He is floating in the air while admiring his creation from afar. "The inevitability. You rise, only to fall."

Those lucky people who were able to get to the other side of the crack on time started to panic as well. They gathered their family members and they started running away from the place.

"You, Avengers, you are my meteor. My swift and terrible sword. And the Earth will crack with the weight of your failure," Ultron said, as he spoke through his robots in the city. "Purge me from your computers, turn my own flesh against me."

One of them directly looked at Wanda and Clint who were kneeled on the bridge as it continuously quaked. Clint shot one of the robots floating in the air but the voice of Ultron only switched to the other one behind it.

"It means nothing," he continued.

On the other bridge, looking down at the people away from the city is Steve. He listens very well to what Ultron is saying but even though he's a little preoccupied he was able to feel the robot coming at him from behind and successfully hit it.

"When the dust settles, the only thing living in this world... will be metal."

Now that it's high enough to be seen even from afar the place, the rocks and ground in the underground workplace are starting to violently shake and fall apart as well. It was immediately noticed by Bruce and Natasha who were on their way to escape the place.

"We gotta move," Bruce said, swiftly holding Natasha on her shoulder to assist her.

"You're not gonna turn green?" she asked after looking at the small pieces of rocks falling from above him.

"I've got a compelling reason not to lose my cool." Bruce shook his head.

Natasha felt loved after hearing that statement which made her smile. "I adore you."

Without any second thoughts, she leaned in to kiss Bruce who kissed her back almost immediately. But after that kiss, Natasha pushed Bruce away, towards the big hole just right next to them.

Confusion was painted in his face as he let himself fall into the hole.

"But I need the other guy," Natasha blurted out.

Seconds after Hulk jumped out of the hole and stood in front of Natasha. Deep inside, he knows why he was needed and he is in perfect shape to control himself.

"Let's finish the job."

Next thing she knew, she was holding tightly and riding Hulk on his back since they weren't in the flying city. Good thing that Hulk can jump high and with just a few kilometers up, he and Natasha were able to reach the city with of course, Natasha screaming non-stop.

Hulk climbed the sides of the falling rocks in order to help him get up faster. The place that they landed on was somehow a woody place and unpopulated. Grunting and groaning, Hulk tumbled down a few times which helped stop his movement while Natasha was tossed a few feet away too.

After both of them recovered from that, Natasha faced Hulk, panting heavily.

"I really hope this makes us even," she said.

As a reply to that, Hulk only grunted.

"Now go be a hero." She smiled at him.

Both of them went separate ways with Hulk roaring loudly and Natasha running off towards the city.

After leaving Loki's side, Pietro rounded the city streets, hitting each and every robot he saw on the way. It helped some civilians who were being threatened by them. While Tony, who is still rounding the sides of the flying city, is carefully studying with Friday the possible outcomes of the event and what solution could they use.

"The vibranium core's got a magnetic field," Friday said basing on her analysis. "That's what's keeping the rock together."

From the virtual monitor inside of his suit, Tony sees the magnetic waves that Friday shows him. "If it drops?"

"Right now, the impact will kill thousands. Once it gets high enough? Global extinction."

Buildings continuously crack in half and fall from the sky. One of those is a high apartment building just in front of where Tony is currently flying. It gave Friday enough time to scan the infrastructure and inform Tony.

"That building's not clear. The 10th floor."

Tony immediately blasted a way inside before entering the main room where a family of three with a little boy is staying. By the stance of the father, it can be seen that no matter what happens he's ready to keep his family safe.

"Hi," Tony cheerfully greeted them. Then he looked around to find a way to get the three of them out safely together. He saw the bathtub on one corner of the room and he immediately pointed at it. "O-kay. Get in the tub!"

After they did what he instructed them, Tony held tightly on the sides of the tub where the three of them are and he flew them out of the building before it completely collapsed.

"I got airborne heading up to the bridge," Friday warned.

Just as she was saying that, a flying robot came in for Steve who is standing on the edge of the bridge and it took him by his waist, making him fly a few meters back to land on top of a car. Due to the force and Steve's strength the car was easily smashed and he got hurt by it a little.

"Cap, you got incoming," Tony said through the earpiece.

"Incoming already came in," Steve groaned while struggling to get up and get down from the hood.

The shattering glasses from a nearby building startled Steve a little while it made the people scream and panic.

"Stark, you worry about bringing the city back down safely," Steve said which is broadcasted through their earpieces which everyone hears. "The rest of us have one job, tear these things apart."

Wanda and Clint busily fights the robots in their area as well as for Loki in his. Pietro on the same hand had just finished rounding the first half of the city and had to stop for a while as his hyperspeed power got him tired too.

"You get hurt, hurt them back," Steve continued to give orders. "You get killed... walk it off."

Heavily panting Pietro gibed at that final statement from Steve before he continued on with his task. From a road in front of the markets near the edge of the city, Ultron's robots came to purge the people running around and hiding. However before one of them could even fire their weapon, Hulk came stepping on it and crushing it just like a thin piece of metal.

And because of his appearance, plus the way he roars while fighting some of the people also got scared of him, making them run away to safety.

As if it's a new wave that came in, Wanda and Clint also tried their best to keep the rest of the residents in their place safe. Wanda frequently uses her magic to hit the enemies but it was Clint most of the time who shoots the robots.

Pietro once again came back to where he left Loki. He saw him finishing off one of the robots before checking in on the people inside of the building.

"These buildings are falling apart," Pietro said, "We're almost at the edge of the cliff. We need to get them somewhere away from here."

"Great, help me move them out," Loki replied.

He opened the door for the people to come out.

"One by one, come on," Loki instructed the people. "Follow him."

From afar, they both saw a dozen robots coming at Clint and Wanda. Both men looked at each other before nodding their heads. Loki left the people as well as Pietro but both of them stopped mid-way.

"I thought you're gonna get them to safety?" Pietro asked while walking back to Loki.

"No, you're the one who'll get them away from here," Loki answered. "I will go help Clint and your sister."

"No, I will go help my sister," Pietro debated.

"You're selfish, you'll only help your sister. I will help them both, now get on your toes and start moving these people."

Loki went to run towards the two people struggling to fight the robots. While Pietro rolled his eyes at him before looking at at least 7 people waiting for him to do something.

"Alright, hold onto each other tightly and don't let go no matter what," he instructed the people before holding onto the arms of the first guy in the line. Using his hyperspeed, Pietro brought the people away from that area.

"Having fun?" Loki asked as he arrived to help the two.

One robot landed in front of Clint and Loki was the one who destroyed it for him, slashing its chest up to the neck part before twisting the head and decapitating it.

"Thought you're slacking off." Clint took an arrow from his quiver.

"Was just protecting some people," Loki said before throwing his dagger at an incoming enemy.

From the other side of that bridge, Wanda effortlessly handles the enemies that come her way. She uses her chaos magic to toss them away or pull them apart. However, the more enemies she encounters the harder it is for her to fight them. Out of all the Avengers in this place, Wanda is the one who has the strongest power but at the moment, due to her nervousness, confusion, and regret. She's having a hard time controlling her magic.

"Is she okay?" Loki asked, looking at Wanda who is kneeling on the ground bracing herself on the side of a trash bin.

Clint looked at her as well before he went up to a car to attack a robot on the other side of it. He somersaulted to go over the enemy before firing an arrow at it hitting it right in the middle of the forehead.

Wanda on the same hand was able to recover and tear one more robot in half.

"There's more of them!" Loki shouted from afar which made both Clint and the girl look up at the sky.

"Go, go, go!" Clint ran towards Wanda, gently pushing her to get out of the area where the robots aimed to shoot at.

They both ran to a nearby house. They jumped through the window of the breaking inside of the house to hide. Clint was fast to take cover as Wanda crawled to stay in front of him.

She's whimpering a little and at the same hand is shaking. It can even be heard through her voice.

"How could I let this happen?" she whispered to herself.

"Hey, hey. You okay?" Clint asked in hopes to check on her and calm her down too.

She had her head down while shaking it. On the verge of crying she spoke once again. "This is all our fault."

"Hey, look at me." Clint continued, not yet ready to give up on her. "It's your fault, it's everyone's fault. Who cares?"

Wanda briefly shushed and stared at Clint as she listened to what he said.

"Are you up for this?" Clint asked. "Are you?"

She didn't reply and just continued to pant heavily. It is clearly seen that she's still afraid and regretful.

"Look, I just need to know. 'Cause the city is flying," Clint continued. "Okay. Look, the city is flying, we're fighting an army of robots, and I have a bow and arrow."

He paused for a while as he looked at Wanda's reactions.

"None of this makes sense."

Suddenly a robot from the outside shot the wall keeping them separated. It startled Wanda and it almost hit Clint but he was fast to lean back, take an arrow from his quiver and shoot the enemy through the hole. Then he bent forward to the same level of Wanda.

"But I'm going back out there because it's my job... Okay? And I can't do my job and babysit," he added. "It doesn't matter what you did or what you were. If you go out there, you fight, and you fight to kill."

Wanda kept staring at him as her whole body shakes. She still hasn't uttered a single word after Clint spoke to her.

"Stay in here, you're good. I'll send your brother to come find you." Clint laid out her options. "But if you step out that door... you are an Avenger."

She slowly stopped shaking but still kept quiet making all of his words sync in and mentally think of what she would choose.

"Alright. Good chat." Clint stood up and walked towards the door of the house.

Wanda turned her gaze following his movements. He stood in front of the door with his back facing it. Then he grabbed a tool from his left leg before activating it. Multiple arrows mechanically grew from the tool giving him at most 9 arrows all together.
