Killing the Undead & Annika's captivity

[DAY 17]

The defenses of the six school buildings filled with civilians and injured soldiers tried to hold out as long as possible.

They were lucky that some undead outside are already eating the dead cultists and moving towards the still active mech. So only half of the undead are actually attacking the camp for now. But it won't be long before they suffer the same fate as the cultists did.

On the headquater building there are currently soldiers in GB1 armor all around the roof and shoot down all undead who seem more dangerous and could storm the doors or climb on the roofs.

The Stage 1 undead type: agility was one of the most problematic. They were just too fast and so some of them kept crawling onto the roofs and biting someone only to jump down again afterwards.

Then there's the Stage 1 type: Strength. They hit the barricades and armored vehicles with their big arms, if they are not quickly neutralized they might manage to break through one of the buildings and that must not happen. The soldiers from the camp might be able to hold their own against the undead at a distance, but against so many in close combat.

Never, they would die just like the cultists had.

John the commander who was on one of the rooftops with some of his soldiers and Neo's former group, excluding the children and the pregnant woman, were all fighting along his side.

"Did Neo betray us after all?" Donatien asked himself, who just devalued and killed an undead type: agility with his shield and weapon.

"I don't think so. He'll come, after all he's still looking for two people, they must be important to Neo for him to make the whole journey to here... he'll come." said John, trying to encourage his troops.

John genuinely believes Neo will come, since Neo believes that John hasn't found his people yet, he will keep defending Camp Luma until Neo confirms that they aren't here.

But in reality, after one hour Neo told him the names and looks of the people he was looking for, John already found out the location of one of the people. The woman named Annika.

Before the apocalypse, some of his soldiers were just regular cops. So they investigated criminals and gangs. One of these cops infiltrated a gang undercover as a new member, three weeks before the apocalypse hit. The gang was known for the illegal trade in arms and people.

After the apocalypse, the gang became one of the larger factions in their part of town, largely due to the weapons they have. They started treating people as toys, killing children in front of their parents. Raping daughters and mothers in front of each other or making small deals with the cultists in which they exchanged virgins for rations.

The undercover cop was stuck with the gang at the beginning of the apocalypse until 4 days ago, where he decided to flee. He freed some of the prisoners but could not free all of them.

He fought his way with the freed prisoners to Camp Luma, which he heard about from some of the prisoners. He then got here yesterday a few hours before Neo and reported his story to John. He mentioned that one of the prisoners gave him the key to the armory.

Only because of this her was he able to free and arm the others so that they could survive the undead outside.

This woman's name was Annika, she is said to have been beautiful, like an angel in this godless world.

When Neo then spoke of a woman named Annika, John already had a feeling.

After Neo then left and he talked with Neo's former group. He decided to summon the undercover police officer once again. John then described the woman's appearance and the police officer agreed that the Annika he saw in the gang looked exactly as described.

After that, John thought alone about which decision would be better for the camp and everyone. He doesn't know what condition Annika is in, but if she was caught helping the prisoners flee she would maybe be dead by now. John and the camp need Neo's fighting power, so John decided not to tell Neo about Annika. At least not until the danger is over.

Of course, Neo has no idea about Annika's stay and therefore decides to help the survivors in the camp.

Before he goes to the camp, Neo decided to close the road through which the undead come in.

To do this, he places some explosives on one of the buildings in the street and amplifies the explosion with his telekines ability.

The explosion broke the building in two and one part of it fell onto the street, blocking it again.

The undead will maybe be so many again in a day that they can get through again. But until then, that's no longer Neo's concern.

After Neo blocked the road again, he headed towards Camp Luma.

Neo still had his drones active, so he could see that his plan to lure the cultists all into a trap had succeeded. The only thing that was there next to the camp is the mech, which uses its last strength to free it from the undead that bind it.

But would Neo give up such a good chance of destroying the mech? Of course not!

Although Neo could also hijack and steal the mech, he decided against it in the end.

That's because, even though he figured out how the hover tank's simple controls work. He has no idea how to control a mech.

Maybe he'll deal with it more in the future, but for now he should eliminate the threat posed by the mech. After all, all the mech needs is one good shot and Neo's tank and all his supplies would be destroyed.

Said and done. As Neo got within firing range, he fired his main weapon at the 'Mech's pilot's seat.

Only after 11 shots the armor was destroyed and the pilot was killed. The mech then fell to the ground making a lot of noise. Neo is sure if he were still human, his eardrum would have exploded.

'Hmph how dare you take 11 shots, I mean come on I've taken some ammunition off your dead preacher, but that doesn't mean I've got infinite, right?' Neo thought to himself with a smile.

After that, Neo took a closer look around the battlefield.

Everything was full of undead and Neo's tank was right in the middle. Neo, who is not attacked by the undead, therefore decides to get out of the tank and kill the undead in melee using his telekinesis ability. He also wants some stage 1 endoskeletons from the undead for later experiments.

Neo activated his armor after exiting the tank and Emily wished him good luck.

Neo pulled out his dark broadsword and began slaughtering the undead. The poor ones couldn't even run from Neo's attack as Neo beheaded them all.

Neo would never pass up a chance to use thousands of test dummies to improve his swordsmanship and telekinesis ability, so he began to kill the undead in various ways.

He picked up three undead at once with his telekinesis and banged their heads together. Another time he cut an undead into a thousand pieces, but didn't destroy the brain. Another time he tried telekines on his sword and let it float, afterwards he used it to slash a Stage 1 Undead type: Strength, from behind.

The soldiers and civilians on the roofs and in the buildings watching Neo, how he simply uses the undead to play with and has no problems fighting them, all became involuntarily fearful and jealous.

Here they fought for their lives while there Neo plays around with the possible threat to them.

Over time, Neo killed more and more undead and after about 5 hours, most of the undead were dead. He also took the crystals and endoskeleton from some Stage 1 undead.

The soldiers then did the rest and killed the remaining undead. John decided not to take a break until supplies are secured from the warehouses and the cultists. He also found the cultists' former slaves and offered to reinstate them to serve as soldiers for the camp, not as slaves, but as free men and women. The majority agreed to the terms and so John has almost made up for his approximately 14,000 losses so far with the approximately 10,000 slaves.

The civilians were incredibly sad after the whole battle and almost all families decided to look for their sons on the battlefield. They wanted to bury their children and fathers as is tradition.

Neo spent the rest of the day fixing his tank and looking for his mother Annika. However, Neo did not find anything and decided late in the evening to continue repairing the tank.

But one of the soldiers interrupted Neo in his plan. He told him that John needed to talk to him about one of the people he was searching after.

Neo dropped everything and ran towards the school as fast as he could.

There he found John and another man. He asked John who they found and where he is.

John then told Neo that he found out about the gang and Annika, from the man next to him a few minutes ago.

Basically, John told everything that was true, he only postponed the events, so that the policeman only arrived a few days ago and that John only found out about it now.

Neo was completely agitated. A bad feeling began to spread in his heart and he didn't hesitate and sprinted as fast as he could in his armor, walking in the direction of the gang. He told Emily to follow him in the tank and be as quick as possible.

John wondered if he did the right thing to trick a demon like Neo. If something happened to Annika, won't the demon seek revenge? What if he finds out he lied to him, will he not come and demand the heads of everyone here?

John decided to prepare his forces for the future where he might have to fight a demon.

Neo didn't care at all about John or anything else at the moment.

That he is undead. That the apocalypse has broken out. What might happen to him in the future.

All he thought about was how his mother was and if she was still alive.

Neo kept imagining her laughing and smiling face, which he had never really noticed before.

He remembered how his mother always asked him to find more interest in others besides his research and father. Maybe you can find a woman to love, some friends to trust and have fun with?

Neo then remembered the paintings his mother drew. They were always about nature and perspective about it. How diverse and different it can appear from different angles. How brutal but also beautiful nature can be in one.

Neo couldn't control his thoughts anymore and his emotions boiled over, he started running faster and faster.

So fast that the world around him disappeared, he got faster and faster. Although he is so incredibly fast, he needed more than 2 hour of agony until he finally arrived at his destination.

Neo charged straight ahead at some wooden barricades with people standing on them with guns.

Neo didn't hesitate and pulled out his sword and jumped over the barricades and slit the heads of the people there with one swing of the sword.

Afterwads, Neo landed on the other side of the barricades and slits off every human's head there. It doesn't matter if it's thug with guns in their hands, women who look like prostitutes, or children preparing the food.

Neo slit everyone's throat afterwars he then walked towards a large pub and kicked the door open.

There were some thugs sitting in the bar with a bunch of women everywhere. Some women danced on the stage and entertained the men. Others had intimate moments together in front of everyone and other thugs just had a drink while groping the women.

After the door banged open, everyone stopped what they were doing and looked at Neo.

Words cannot describe what they saw in front of them. It looked like the embodiment of death itself.

Ahead of them stood Neo in his demonic armor, his red/purple eyes shining through his helmet and looking like the wrath of a god himself. Then he still carried his sword in his right hand, which emitted a purple mist.

The thugs all drew their guns and started shooting at Neo. Neo, on the other hand, ignored the shots and slashed every person in the pub, whether gangsters, women or children. It doesn't matter whether they beg or throw away their weapons. Neo personally killed everyone there.

All but one, an old fat man who used to sit in the biggest chair, but now he's kneeling on the floor begging for forgiveness.

Neo ignored him and only asked him one question.

"A woman with blue eyes and black hair, she is beautiful and her name is Annika, where is she? You have 3 seconds to answer me." Neo asked the fat old man in a demonic voice.

"I don't know anyone who looks like that... if she's here, then she must be in the basement with the others. I can..." said the old fat man with fear in his voice, but before he could continue talking, Neo sliced the man's arms and legs through, ignoring his screams and curses afterward.

Neo then immediately sprinted into the basement. There he killed the guard and started to examine the cell. He then found her in one of the last cells.

In a dark, wet and cold place where there are some chains on the wall and where many women of different ages hung completely naked, Neo saw his mother.

He hadn't recognized her at first, especially since she looked completely different than Neo had remembered her.

Her beautiful hair appears to have been burned and her head still has some burn marks on it. One of her eyes was missing and the other looked blank. Her fingernails were gone and one of her legs was cut off. All over her body were deep and large knife scars. She stank of piss and some other fistas and looked malnourished.

Only when Neo examined her more closely did he realize that she was his mother. He immediately cut the chains on the wall and held her tight. Then his helmet formed into his face.

He looked at his mother with tears in his eyes and stroked her face softly .

"Mother...mother I'm sorry I'm so late. I'm here now, everything will be fine." said Neo while sobbing.

Annika didn't react to her son at first, but when she heard Neo's voice, a tear came from her eye.

"... am I home? Neo my darling, I love you." said Annika in a weak voice as she looked directly at her son. After that, her eye became more and more unclear and she stopped breathing.

"What? No, I'm here. You mustn't die! Not you too. I need you, mother. I can't... I can't stand another death... MOTHER!" screamed Neo while shaking Annika slightly.

He decided to revive her with his hands for a couple of minutes, but nothing helped.

Annika, Neo's mother died in his arms.

Neo felt just as lost and abandoned in that moment as when his father died.

At first he didn't want to believe it. How can his mother, who was alive a few minutes ago, be dead now? How can the woman who was always by his side never talk to Neo again? He will never see her smile or hear her talk about art.

But no matter how long he persuaded himself that his mother was still alive. The truht lies in front of him and no longer breathes.

...

Neo sat on his knees for a few minutes just staring at his mother. Slowly accepting the reality, he wondered what she had to go through. What agony and suffering she must have endured. With every wound on her body, he imagined how she must have gotten it. What she must have felt in those moments.

Neo felt an unbelievable pain in his chest, a burning that wouldn't stop. He asked if it was his fault that she died. While he was fighting the cult. When he had his fun in the new world, with his new powers. His mother was here, tortured and died slowly in unbearable pain.

What good does all this power do him if he still acts as weak and powerless as before the apocalypse?

Neo, who thought about everything he had did in his life until now, gently took his mother in one of his arms and the sword in the other, then he proceeded to kill everyone in the area without mercy. Neo only stopped after ending up killing all humans and undead nearby.

He built a large coffin out of wood for his mother and then put her inside, in a white dress which he put on her.

Then he lit the coffin and watched it burn on the rainy night.

"I can't continue to exist like this. To get stronger. To never be so powerless again. I have to give up all inhibitions, all my humanity. From now on, the old Neo will no longer exist and a new Neo will rise from his ashes. I will slaughter and eat everyone involved in their deaths slowly and as painfully as possible. I will become something that comes out of people's worst nightmares." Neo said as his eyes blazed in the light of the fire.

'But for that I need power.'

Neo didn't notice it right away, but something changed inside him at this moment. His dark aura, which had only slowly entered Neo's body before, suddenly raced into Neo in an incredible speed.

A dark purple fog suddenly built up around Neo and surrounded him.

But before Neo could notice it, he realized that he was suddenly in a different place.

The world of darkness he knew was ahead of him.
