In a faraway future where Humanity is colonizing the Galaxy.

In a future where robots, clone soldiers and genetically enhanced humans are waging massive wars against alien races for Human Supremacy.

In this future, the apocalypse broke out on their old homeworld, which they had long forgotten and abandoned.

Countless asteroids of unknown origin crashed down on the terraformed Earth and brought with them an incredibly powerful virus that resurrects the dead.

The Undead were born.

After the Apocalypse happened, Government, soldiers, security werw suddenly all concepts of the past. 

In the Apocalypse, only the strong rule and govern! Thus, the ancient law of the jungle was enforced and brought a little more madness to the already insane Earth.

Neo Ehrenbach, a 21-year-old student, finds himself in this Apocalypse. His struggle for survival has only just begun, but then he was sacrificed and abandoned by those he accepted as his new family.

Bleeding and being infected with the Undead Virus, Neo wondered since when did he become so reckless.

How could he begin to open up to other people? How could he be such an idiot for trusting others? In this world, before or after the Apocalypse, he can only trust himself. Well, that seems relatively unimportant now considering that he's dying.

But it turned out differently than he expected.

Yes, Neo woke up as an Undead, but he retained his memories and mind and gained an infinite potential to get the power he craves so much after.

Follow Neo as he evolves and explores the Virus and creates a System of his own. Watch him gain new strength and power and build a Legion of Undead with which he will transform not only Earth but the entire Galaxy into his subjects.

Neo will become the embodiment of madness itself, eating and growing as much as he can.

Will Neo survive in this madness stricken world? 
Will he get the answers he's looking for?
Will he get the revenge he longs for?

Apocalyptic Insanity is my first novel and I've always wanted to write and publish a story like this. 

Criticism and feedback are welcome!

My English isn't the best so feedback on spelling mistakes etc. would be appreciated!

I also wanted to say that the Earth in my story is not our Earth. For example, there are entirely different continents and nations they inhabit (they are introduced when Neo's journey goes there).
 
Despite this, the whole scenario plays out in a Sci-Fi version of our future. There are laser weapons, tanks, mechs, spaceships, aliens, galactic wars...

I will try to make the world as realistic as possible. So there will be no illogical concepts contradicting each other.

I will be releasing about 2 new chapters a day.

Apocalyptic Insanity

This Chapter only explains how Neo's Paths, Traits and Abilities are built and how Neo can become stronger. Therefore, the chapter is only intended for future reference.

Important: Neo stores all his own insights about his powers and about the undead virus in his system "Undead Mutation Insights" UMI for short.


UMI is not an all-powerful system from a god or something, but just a database where Neo's most important information about his power can be viewed at a glance.


Neo updates the database along with Emily the AI ​​when the need arises.


BODY PATH (Creates a Body Core in Neos brain)


SOUL PATH (Creates a soul core in Neo's Soul alias World of Darkness)


Neo's Body Path affects his Body, while the Soul Path affects his Soul. 


His Legion Path affects his Undead Legion and his Myriad Path affects his Soulless Myriad.


All paths come with their own Traits, which are skill trees that contain Active and Passive Abilities.


Body Path & Soul Path are unique, they have their own Stages which the Body or Soul undergo.


The Stages go from stage 0 to stage 10 and are divided into Low, Mid and High in between, all of which one have to go through to reach a new Stage.


(Example: LOW STAGE 0 BODY, MID STAGE 0 BODY, HIGH STAGE 0 BODY, LOW STAGE 1 BODY...)


The higher the Stage, the stronger Neo becomes and his potentially new traits and abilities to awaken grow.


Neo's Body gets stronger the more flesh and creatures he eats, but other undead Body Cores are particularly beneficial.


Neo's Soul becomes stronger as he meditates more and collects more Soul Energy. Otherwise, Neo can also absorb Souls with one of his Abilities and thus get a part of their power and improve his soul faster.


The conditions to get up a Stage becomes more difficult the higher it is.


Neo possesses a handful of Traits, which in turn contain their own Abilities that Neo has developed or discovered over time.


Neo cannot use these Abilities indefinitely or all-encompassing.


His Body Traits and their Abilities usually require Energy and Concentration. If Neo uses his Abilities too much, Neo will need to eat more and rest.


His Soul Abilities usually require Soul Energy and focus. When Neo uses his abilities too much, he must meditate to recharge his power.


Neo's Myriad Path and Legion Path are both Paths affecting his army.


The Legion consists of Undead that Neo created or his Undead. Neo can also add already existing Undead to his Legion, but only in limited numbers and no stronger Undead than himself.


The Myriad consists of Soulless, which Neo creates as far as he absorbs a Soul from a living being and then puts a part of his Soul (Soul Shard) into the Soulless. Neo cannot add infinite Soulless to his Myriad.


Both armies, the Myriad and the Undead, serve Neo with fanatical zeal and Neo rules their lives and could kill anyone in the blink of an eye if he so chooses.


The soldiers in the Myriad and the Legion must train independently to become stronger.


The Undead follow the Body Path while the Soulless follow the Soul Path.


The Soulless cannot enhance their bodies, but possess higher intelligence and their old memories, but no Soul and consciousness. Like Neo, they can unlock their own Soul Traits and Abilities.


The Undead are dumb during the lower Body Stages and their intelligence increases as their bodies Stage does. They possess the Undead Virus and, like Neo, can unlock their own Body Traits and Abilities.
