[DAY 81]
While Neo took over the hangar, the soldiers at the front wondered why the artillery suddenly stopped firing.
Although the Undead Horde is not the largest, the soldiers on the front lines are still under tremendous moral stress generated by the brutality of the Undead. A small scratch or bite is enough and the soldiers are infected and then become mindless monsters who lose their humanity and everything that is important to them.
All this creates a natural fear that increases inside of them, the longer and the fiercer the battle goes on. The loud artillery shells tearing the Undead masses to pieces is one of the reasons why, despite the brutality, they calm down knowing that the artillery is on their side.
But for some time now the artillery has stopped firing and the morale of the soldiers is beginning to drop faster and faster.
"NO! TIM I'M COMING, HOLD OUT!!" shouted one of the countless soldiers on the battlefield to a soldier who was defending himself against three Undead in close combat.
The Undead broke through the outer defenses a few minutes ago and the soldiers got into a hand-to-hand combat with the Undead.
Everywhere, the Undead rush into every opening en masse, biting and clawing everything in their reach.
Everywhere, countless soldiers are being disemboweled and eaten alive on the battlefield, only to rise again as the Undead.
Those soldiers who are still alive watch in horror as their comrades are brutally eaten and can do nothing but retreat.
One of those soldiers was the man who was just calling out to his comrade, who is now being overwhelmed by the undead around him and being eaten alive.
"NO, no Tim, that can't be! What will become of your Mother and your Sister!" said the soldier as he watched the fate of his comrade with horror.
"RUN AWAY AMAN! HURRY YOU MUST SURVIVE! TAKE CARE OF.. AHHHHHH" Tim yelled as he was interrupted by an Undead biting his head off.
With loud noises, the bones of the skull could be heard being broken in the undead's mouth.
"NO! NO! DIE FUCKING MONSTERS!" yelled Aman as he finally got within range and shot his assault rifle at the Undead that ate his friend.
"TST, TST, TST"
It wasn't until the bullets were empty in the magazine that Aman came back to reality. Countless Undead were running straight towards him and the path behind him had also been taken by the Undead, some running in the direction of the second line of defense and some coming in his direction.
With no other choice, Aman quickly decided to run down one of the small alleyways to escape the Insanity and certain death.
Clenching his teeth, he ran and strapped his assault rifle around his back and took out a small handgun and shot some Undead in the alley with it, fighting his way through to a larger compound of alleys.
Unsure if he can outrun the charging undead that follow him, Aman made his way through the dark alleys.
...
Meanwhile, the rest of the EDF forces who successfully repositioned behind the second line of defense, began shooting at the Undead Horde again.
The grenades from the Hovertanks caused huge casualties among the Undead, who desperately tried to climb the fences of the outpost.
The Mechs, on the other hand, were equipped with larger arm cannons, and the Mechs machine guns basically drowned out the entire battlefield.
What none of the soldiers noticed at that moment were some purple-eyed soldiers hijacking one Hovertank after another in the shadows of the night and shooting one pilot after another or turning them into Undead.
It didn't take long and the Soulless had already hijacked all the Hovertanks and gradually began to do the same to the Mechs.
Meanwhile, the Undead of the Legion began to line up behind the outpost's soldiers, slowly moving towards the soldiers who still had their backs to them.
Once they got close enough, the Legion's Undead began to grab the soldiers from behind and bite or eat them outright.
The soldiers, who had been completely concentrating on the enemy in front of them, were completely surprised when the Undead suddenly came behind them and bit them.
Some soldiers screamed, others shot wildly, hitting some of their own comrades, and others just started crying and peeing themselves.
But there were also a few soldiers who were able to defend themselves and fought against the Undead, only to be grabbed by the Soulless and knocked unconscious at the end.
Neo gave orders to all of his Soulless to let the Undead eat free and only catch any soldier who can defend themselves against them. He will only bind these Soulless to himself, especially as he slowly feels that he cannot create infinite Soulless, so in the future he will have to be more careful to only add the talented and useful ones to his Myriad, so the rest should serve as Undead of the Legion.
After a short time the entire outpost was conquered by Neo and his army without suffering any casualties themselves.
However, the most important thing for Neo aren't just the Undead he got, but much more the 17 Mechs and the 9 Hovertanks he got, as well as the Starfighter, which the soldiers didn't even use when the Horde came.
Neo decided to first add the remaining humans which his Soulless captured to his Myriad and then check out his new Starfighter, which he will need for the next steps of his plan.
In front of Neo there was currently a huge line of captured soldiers, all tied up with their heads bowed and being guarded left and right by his Soulless. If one of the captured soldiers tried to run away, he was shot or eaten by the undead that were also here and there.
The foremost prisoner was brought to Neo again and again by two soulless, who in turn absorbed one soul after the other and then added the Soulless to his Myriad.
It didn't take long and all the prisoners, despite crying and begging, joined Neo's Myriad.
Neo then decided to appoint some of the outpost's former commanders as new Centurions and also crown a new Legate.
After that, he ordered his Soulless to ready the troops and get ready for a fight against the other outposts.
The Soulless followed Neo's orders and prepared for battle as requested.
Meanwhile, Neo began the next steps of his plan. He can't use the Horde again to distract the other outposts while turning all the soldiers from behind the lines into his soldiers.
But thanks to the Starfighter, he no longer needs to do that.
Neo, who has two years of experience as a starship pilot, not only knows how to fly the Starfighter effectively, but also how destructive it can be.
Neo is currently standing in front of the Starfighter and just admiring it.
The Starfighter is about 22 meters long and reaches a top speed of up to 3.539 km/h. Has a total of 8 drives, which are distributed all over it and allow the spaceship an incredibly high maneuverability and also to Hover in air. Furthermore, looks the Starfighter a lot like the old familiar stealth plane, the Lockheed F-117. In addition, the Starfighter can leave the atmosphere and offers space for exactly one pilot.
Neo has already ordered his Soulless to equip the Starfighter with bombs and ammunition and accordingly after a long time decided to sit behind the pilot's seat again.
The pilot's entrance opened and Neo floated in, greeted by a red holographic interface that was so familiar to him.
After a few bypasses of the military software, Neo was able to gain access to the Starfighter's controls and began the start-up procedure.
A holographic map opened in front of Neo showing what was happening around the Starfighter. On the right side he could see some of the Starfighter's values, i.e. amount of fuel, ammunition, rockets, hull condition, etc.
On the left side, however, he got a detailed overview of the functionality of all machine parts of the Starfighter, which he could enhance with more energy if he wanted.
Neo then took two longer cables from a small hole over him and put them on his forehead and then put on a pilot's mask.
Every modern Starfighter has a bio-neural junction unit that grants an incredibly precise control over the spaceship and allows for proper commanding of a Starfighter.
After Neo made a neural connection with the Starfighter, he was able to perceive the plane's engines as a part of his body. Neo will also immediately become aware of every damage and every little irregularity and fighting will now be much easier for him.
Shortly after establishing neural connection with the Starfighter, he commanded the vertical thrusters to take off and the Starfighterrocketed into the air under the blue glow of the thrusters.
The Starfighter then shot up further and flew towards one of the remaining outposts, which was already being attacked by a Legion of Undead. Meanwhile, Neos Soulless are still lying in wait until Neo destroys the communication networks of all outposts.
In addition, Neo has already equipped some Soulless on the border in the direction of Safezone 9, in case the soldiers should retreat to Safezone 9. As before, no one who saw Neo's Soulless is allowed to survive and report back.
...
Neo, who is currently high in the air, enjoying the feeling of being able to fly freely again in the wide air, was now over one of the outposts and was about to dive down in his Starfighter.
The dark Starfighter suddenly shot out of the cloud cover while making no noise at all. It was only when the missiles separated from the underside of the wings and flew towards the outpost that there was an audible noise.
The soldiers who are attacking the Legion, suddenly all look surprised and the next moment in panic into the sky as hell raced straight at them and collided with the outpost.
"BOOOOM!"
"BOOOOM!"
"BOOOOM!"
"BOOOOM!"
"BOOOOM!"
Made the missiles as they annihilated the front line of the military, making way for the Undead Legion to overrun them.
The Starfighter, on the other hand, turned back up, but when it was over a certain tent, a small hole opened up at the rear of the spacecraft and a spherical-sized bomb fell right on top of the tent.
"BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!"
Made the bomb when it hit the ground, destroying everything in the vicinity.
The bomb emits a small amount of radioactive radiation, which will spread all over the impact site and will slowly kill the people who survived the impact.
Meanwhile, the Starfighter flew toward the nearest outpost, which is being attacked by a Legion of undead too.
However, the outpost has already noticed what has happened and is therefore trying to shoot the Starfighter out of the sky with some Mechs and Hovertanks.
Neo responds to the attack with a slight smile as suddenly some hatches on the rear of the spaceship open and small drones follow out of the vents and fly in a swarm formation around the Starfighter, intercepting any bullets, rockets and grenades that would hit it .
Thereafter, two more flaps opened on the front of the starfighter and suddenly laser projectiles erupted from them, while the Starfighter hovered in the air, blasting some tents that are the communications headquarters and smashing the defenses holding the Legio back.
The Soulless subsequently began attacking the outpost, overrunning the defenses along with the Legion.
Meanwhile, the Starfighter headed for the nearest outpost, which was not far away, and launched a missile attack and fired two heavy machine guns at the communications center and the soldiers' defenses.
In the end, the last emplacement was breached and the Undead along with the Soulless fell over the remaining soldiers.
At the end, Neo watched the sunrise in his new Starfighter and smiled at the success reports of his Soulless.
"What a successful night, very different from the one before!" said Neo as he flew high in the air.
