A new Power is Rising (13/13)

[DAY 81]

Early in the morning on another day of the apocalypse, in a certain city at the time, a bloody battle could be observed, illuminated by the bright spawning.

This bloody battle takes place between the attacking Soulless and Undead on one side and on the other the defending soldiers of Safezone 9, which is just over a hundred kilometre away from the battle.

The soldiers are still defending their last positions with everything they have, shell explosions and heavy machine gun shots could be heard everywhere on the battlefield.

Overall, the defending soldiers are divided between three outposts that are only a few kilometers apart. Of these three, two have already fallen and the remaining soldiers have already retreated towards Safezone 9.

The number of casualties already exceeds more than 80% of the stationed soldiers in the city and all because of the Starfighter that destroyed the defenses of the outposts. The Undead could then simply rush into the outpost and large alley fights ensued, much of which was melee.

There in close combat, the defending soldiers had very bad cards as the Undead, with their enhanced bodies and various abilities, were physically superior to humans. In the end, the soldiers had no chance defending without proper coordination and further reinforcements.

When the Starfighter then also destroyed the communications centers, the outposts could only send out a call for help, but no specific information about the enemy.

At the end, the soldiers were killed and overrun on the final battlefield.

The strong smell of iron and gunpowder could be smelled everywhere and the heat from the explosions could be felt in the air.

Walking around the battlefield, one would sooner or later come across innards, body parts, or whole corpses lacking brains.

Finally, when the battle ended in victory for the attackers, as expected, most of the soldiers had already turned Undead and only a handful of soldiers were still alive and were captured by Soulless and brought to Neo, who is sitting on a throne made of Miasma and was currently eating some brains and organs.

After the captured were brought to him, he turned the soldiers into Soulless ones as well, sealing the fate of the last living people in the city.

Meanwhile, were the soldiers who escaped completely eliminated by Neo's 10,000 Soulless lying in wait on the streets. No one should have escaped the slaughter and Neo watched with a smile as his Undead eat the corpses on the battlefield, one by one.

Some of them are already showing signs of evolving into Stage 1 Mutant Undead and Neo is watching with delight as his Legion eats and his power grows.

Neo has already ordered his Soulless to collect and store whatever war material is found. In addition, he appointed a few more Soulless to Centurion and gave them various tasks.

Partly, he ordered the Soulless to rebuild the outposts and to strengthen the position. Meanwhile, he ordered another part to patrol the borders and guard the various warehouses.

He also ordered the newly recruited technicians to repair and repair the Mechs and Hovertanks and also assigned his new Soulless as pilots who will pilot the vehicles, representing the great fist of Neo's army. With their mechanized superiority, they will rip through infantry and pierce enemy positions for his Legion to invade.

On the other hand, he stationed some Soulless as artillery troops that will man the three big Howitzers and rain down hell on their enemies from afar.

Finally, he also divided his Legion into Cohorts that mostly have a lot of mutated Undead and he tried to make groups of only Attackers, Defenders and Assassins. Overall, however, these Cohorts are still short on numbers and as such some Stage 0 Undead need to make up the numbers.

Neo, as previously mentioned, also crowned a new Legate who used to be an officer at the first base he captured. The officer named Hector had a low rank as a soldier and only commanded smaller units, but it was precisely this officer who alone and his soldiers defied Neo's Legion to the bitter end and thus survived the longest.

Hector's tactical ability to analyze his enemy and predict his moves is simply on a level of his own. Moreover, even as death drew near, he never lost heart and fought in the front lines alongside his soldiers.

In the end, however, he was overwhelmed by the sheer number of Undead, but some Soulless who recognized his potential knocked him and a few soldiersof him unconscious and brought them to their new Master, who subsequently made them Soulless of his Myriad.

Neo saw the fight through the eyes of his Soulless and decided not to appoint Hector as a Centurion, but as a Legate, who still needs a lot of experience, especially since Hector shouldn't be older than 23 and is therefore a very young officer. But because of his extraordinary potential to lead soldiers and forestall his enemies, Neo decided to appoint him as an Legate.

"I swear absolute allegiance to my Master, I will gladly be the blade you hold to your enemies throats!" were Hector's first words after he became a Soulless.

Neo also turned some of Hector's best soldiers into Soulless and made them Centurions to serve under him

Neo plans to take Hector, who knows his way around Safezone 9 but is very unknown among the people there, on the infiltration mission that is about to take place.

But before he does all that, Neo, having successfully completed his aspirations in the north, wants to briefly survey´Abeus and assess the progress of his Legion and Myriad.

After that, he plans to make a short detour south of Abeus to look for the Separatist hideouts as Neo needs the weapons and fighter planes that were hidden there before the apocalypse, to stand a chance against Safezone 9 in combat.

...

No sooner said than done, after issuing some final orders to his Soulless in the city, Neo set out inside his new Starfighter to fly back to Abeus, after which only a few minutes of flight he already arrived in.

"The worlds always seem so small in a Starfighter." Neo said as his Starfighter landed.

Subsequent to the Starfighter landing, Neo stepped out of the pilot's cabin and was greeted by Aaron and some of his Legates.

"My Master, welcome back to your city! I've missed you so much, my lord. But don't worry, nothing suspicious or dangerous has happened and your army is training continuously and with high morale from morning until dawn the next morning!" Aaron said when he met his Master Neo again after a long time.

The remaining Legates gave him a brief but equally respectful welcome and they all walked behind Neo, who was heading towards the crater to inspect his troops.

The Soulless have done nothing but train since their Master took over the city. From morning on they had to do competitive sports and learn to aim and shoot. All of the Soulless were already obedient and would obey any command Neo gave them unconditionally, but their military knowledge was severely lacking and so they were also taught a basic course in battlefield behavior and tactics. In addition, melee combat techniques and various weapon techniques were taught.

While Neo returned to Abuse, his Soulless currently were engaged in a major exercise.

The Soulless were divided into two Cohorts like they are on the battlefield and sent to fight against each other. They were each given the order to eliminate the other Cohort. However, how they proceed and what they do is entirely up to them. Of course, they don't kill each other, they just train and injure each other at most.

The aim of the exercise is to put the theory learned into practice and also to find the most capable and talented soldiers in order to find capable officers.

Neo was currently watching one of these fights, which is taking place at a specially built training ground. He observes with joy that his Myriad has changed worlds compared to a few days ago.

The commands Neo gives to his Soulless are absolute, the Soulless follow these commands with whatever they can achieve and are always motivated to do more. So when Neo ordered them to train and get stronger, they did nothing but do just that. No free time, no free will, no distractions, but everything their Master demands.

Thanks to this hard and inhuman training, the Soulless were able to increase their strength many times over in a short time, so that they were about as strong as soldiers

...

After the exercises were over and Neo heard some suggestions from his Legates regarding outstanding Soulless, he made some Centurions and gave them authority over some Cohorts.

Aaron then introduced the new Elite Cohort that he has been training for some time now.

The Cohort is no larger than a little over 1,000 Soulless, but appearances are deceiving, they all exude the aura of experienced and strong soldiers who are more than capable of calling themselves the elite of an army.

They all wear special dark armor slightly resembling knights and carried various weapons with them.

"Do you like the design of the armor? I personally designed it based on my Masters armor. They are slightly stronger than a GB 1 Battlearmor. Unfortunately, armor production has been slow and we could only Equip about 60% of the ever-growing Legion, but the Myriad is already fully equipped with weapons and more ammo is guaranteed with the factory which my magnificent Master has conquered." Aaron said as he submissively looked at Neo with a proud look.

'The way he's giving me his puppy dog eyes, does he want me to pet him for what he's accomplished?' Neo thought to himself as he looked at Aaron, who was standing in front of Neo with his head slightly bowed.

"Sigh, well done Aaron in the short time you've been training an elite force, but I want to witness their strength for myself, so everyone come up to me and show me what you've learned! Attack me!" yelled Neo as he looked at his Elite.

The Elite, albeit slightly reluctant at heart to hurt their Master, followed orders and attacked Neo.

Some of the troops went into direct melee combat while others immediately built up more distance to Neo and opened fire on Neo with their grants

Neo, on the other hand, decided to only use his wings in this small fight to get a better feel for her in the fight.

Neo intercepted the melee fighters positioned in formation around him and attacked one by one with sharp wing stabs and slashing armor after armor, but not hurting the Soulless too badly.

However, it wasn't as easy as it sounds, and Neo had to put in some effort to follow the well-coordinated and quick movements of his Elite. The Elite have been very well coached by Aaron in terms of coordinating as one unit in a constantly moving formation.

Aaron watched with his snake eyes in glee as the Elite were defeated by his Master despite such difficult training. However, he wasn't sad at all, but rather happy that the Soulless who were trained by him were able to compete against his Master Neo for so long.

After a few minutes of practice fighting, victory passed to Neo, as expected.

"I'm happy with the progress you've made so far, but don't rest on your current strength, otherwise if I get stronger you won't have a chance against me, so keep getting stronger!" Neo spoke as he looked at his elite kneeling in front of him.

"Yes, Dark Monarch!" shouted the Elite in response.

"We will slip into the enemy's burrow together and destroy them from within, I expect nothing but perfection and success during this time!" spoke Neo afterwards.

"We will serve you well, Master," response the Elite at the end.

...

Satisfied, Neo then made his way to a questionable character who has so far stayed relatively aloof from his Legion. We're talking about none other than Luma the Stage 2 Mutant Undead with a Stage 1 Soul, which Neo captured and bonded with.

Ever since Luma arrived in Abeus and regained consciousness, she has not taken orders from Aaron or whoever and instead went into an old ruin all by herself and has remained calm until now.

Neo just went to said ruin to check on Luma.

Luma's potential is endless, with her destructive power she could strengthen Neo's Legion many times over. However, he doesn't want Luma as an officer and in command, especially since she becomes too irrational as far as going into combat, so a Special role might be more appropriate for her.

After a few minutes, Neo stood in front of the ruins and was able to perceive Luma's presence in the destroyed building and then entered the building.

The ruin was dark, wet and smelled of blood and sulphur, but Neo didn't let that affect him and opened a half-broken door at the end of the corridor.

There behind was Luma, who immediately jumped up after feeling Neo at the door and sprinted towards him.

Neo just gave Luma a cold look and didn't do anything else.

As Luma arrived behind her with her fires a split second before Neo, she made an angry face ready to attack Neo, but her claws stopped in the air.

However, Neo didn't use any of his abilities and instead just looked into Luma's bright red glowing eyes.

Luma couldn't attack Neo whatever she wanted it was, as if some unseen force prevented her. But in fact it was her own Soul that didn't allow any attacks she wanted to carry out on Neo.

After a few minutes of Luma trying to rip Neo's throat, the face that was angry and ready to fight turned more and more into a desperate and frustrated one.

In the end, she only gave up the attacks after a full hour. She just stood in front of Neo with a frustrated and downcast face and looked at the floor.

"You want destruction? You want to see more burning and defeat even stronger opponents, don't you?" Neo asked as he looked down at Luma with a cold look.

"You want to bathe in the blood of those you eat and burn alive, then follow me, become my weapon and I promise you, you will have it all! Or refuse and find your death here and now!" Neo spoke while not taking his eyes off Luma.

Luma hesitated for a few seconds. In the end, however Luma knelt down in front of Neo, tilting her head slightly up.

"I... I will be obedient to you." she only spoke when she then lowered her head again.

"Good, I firstly want you to go to the forge and have yourself equipped, they should forge a suitable weapon of your choice and armor as soon as possible." Neo said afterwards as he himself left the room and the building.

Luma only nodded slightly and then went to the forge.

...

After the strange confrontation with Luma, Neo headed to his Miasma Tower, which he hasn't seen for several days.

He flew up the Tower and landed on a small balcony that formed for him at the top.

Neo then looked down at his Legion and Myriad below him.

"My Legion and my Myriad. My Undead and my Soulless! The hour of our ascension has come! It is time that we take revenge on the people who have given us so much death once and for all! They want to leave us dead on this world and condemn us, but will we allow that? NO! We will get hold of them and show them not to mess with the Dark Monarch of Abeus and his Legion!" screamed Neo in a demonic voice,

as he spoke to his Legion, his voice amplified throughout the city.

"GET READY TO STRIKE AS THE HOUR OF REVENGE HAS COME! CLAIM YOUR RIGHTS TO BECOME STRONGER BY KILLING!!!" Neo yelled, whereupon his Legion answered him with loud screams while holding their weapons in the air.

'The great battle is now imminent.' Neo thought to himself as he looked at his Legion with a demonic smile.
