Yisi glanced aside at the man, who was probably not getting any younger. Yisi could hear something terrible in his short breaths, a characteristic of poor lung function. But the night was so dim that he couldn't see the man's face, but the caption did appear beside the man.
[Old An, a senior employee of the Dragon Tiger Gang].
Yisi reckoned that Old An would die at sea because Yisi hadn't seen him in the simulation episode and himself was the only one arrested in the Replay of Death.
The only explanation was that Old An would die or that he was lucky enough to have escaped the police patrol.
The yacht had gone on for about another nautical mile, and the water in the hold was getting so heavy that the water line was approaching the calves of both men.
Oh no, the boat wouldn't hold.
"Jump!"Old An roared, pulled a narrow plank from under his feet, then tossed it to Yisi.
"Thanks." Yisi looked at him gratefully, "Old An, what about you? Won't you run away?"
"I want to try again; maybe I can make it to shore. If I can't carry on, I'll run away."
Yisi nodded; he was about to say something more to Old An, who just waved at him, "Run for your life! May the Goddess of Harvest bless you."
Goddess of Harvest might be this world's unique faith, Yisi guessed.
It was lucky for Yisi that it was early in the morning, the time when the tide was high and the sea, with the gravitational pull of the moon, would keep lapping at the riverbank. Even if Yisi couldn't swim with this little plank, there was a good chance he could make it to shore safely.
There was no time to hesitate!
With the board in his arms, Yisi leaps into the cool, black water.
Fresh seawater rushed into Yisi's mouth and nose, but he didn't expect the strong smell of rust.
It tasted like blood.
Yisi was in no mood to comment on the saltiness of the seawater here; all he could think about now was to hurry up and dock; he needed to find the police and get them to stop the explosion in the Hakuba Distinct.
Yisi didn't know exactly what the status of the Tiger-Dragon Gang was; all he knew was that since he was in contact with them and they were smuggling fentanyl, now that the ship had sunk. The smuggled goods were gone; he must be to blame.
Yisi had to rely on the help of the police to avoid the mob's future pursuit. Now that Yisi has the Eye of Truth, he is perfectly capable of handling ordinary police patrols.
With the help of the plank and the tide, Yisi made his way to the shore. Just as the simulator had said, he had indeed encountered the police.
"Who? Hands in the air! Drop your weapons and stop resisting!" A young male patrol policeman approached Yisi.
Yisi held up his hands, indicating that he had no weapons.
"Who are you? Your identity papers?"
Yisi was helpless; he could only shrug his shoulders. Not only was the policeman confused, but he didn't know his identity, what he looked like, where Yisi had come from or where he was going.
Eye of Truth prompted:
[Police Flying Service, trainee police officer, Arrow Zhang].
The patrol officer, a newcomer, rustily pulled out a silver handcuff from his uniform pocket and tried to cuff Yisi.
Come on, don't do that again! Yisi remembered that in his first "death," the handcuffs were embedded with a miniature bomb. When the policeman loses vital signs, he is automatically destroyed by the mini-bomb.
What an annoyingly retarded invention.
After some thought, Yisi said, "I suggest you deal with the explosion in Hakuba first, rather than arresting an ordinary man without any threat."
The Hakuba District? An explosion? Just as the policeman hesitated, Yisi added:
"The gangs are in a firefight in the Hakuba area, and an explosion is about to happen there. If you report to your superiors-now immediately, everything can still be stopped."
Zhang looked at the handcuffs in his hand and then at Yisi, who was full of sincerity in front of him.
He chose to cuff Yisi first before he did so.
"Ah, hey hey hey! I've told you, there will be an explosion!"
Yisi was practically speechless: is this man sick? Doesn't he know how dangerous an explosion can be?!
"I'm just doing this as a matter of routine." Officer Zhang said with a stern face.
