Sins And Virtues

"You dare!?" I yelled as my body flashed, and I appeared in front of Mimi.

"Oh? You really are quick to move but are you able to protect them all?" Mammon let out a cackle of a laugh as she waved her hand, creating many black spears floating in the air around her. "Pick! Which one of your family members do you wish to have killed first!? For every day you do not do something that pushes the game forward, one of your family members will die!"

"You say so much but have you not realized not a single one of you has told me how to gain points!? You think of yourselves as higher beings and are using my life to play a game of chess. But not a single one of you has given me any information. I only know I can gain demon points by killing people. What about angel points? Do I need to revive the dead? Do I need to pray to some trash god? You only know how to make threats as if I know what the hell I am supposed to do. But look at you. Standing there threatening a five year old child. Do you not feel ashamed? Or is this the true pride of a demon?" I sneered as I turned into my demon form and cast dark bolt to destroy the spears made of dark elements. I then shot a few at Mammon even though I knew it would not do anything.

"Childish games!" Mammon's lips curled down, her eyes glowing slightly. I guess she didn't like the idea of a child attacking her.

"Yes, very childish, but what does that make you for acting against a child?" I asked.

"You talk big for someone who is well over a hundred years old. Two lifetimes! If you add up your age, you would be around one hundred and thirty years old, and you still call yourself a child!? Don't try to play mind games with me!" Mammon yelled out.

"Let me tell you this." I started. "I know you can not kill me yourselves. You are unable to. If you dare touch a single person here, as soon as I figure out how to gain angel points, I will not make a move ever again and end my life right then and there. You will be stuck with a tie and no way to finish your little bet."

"You! You dare threaten me!?" Mammon's eyes were full of hate. Her chest heaved up and down. I had an assumption that there must have been something special about me, or else there would not just be one person playing this game. I wondered why they would go out of their way to introduce themselves to me when they could easily just kill me off even after my declaration from before. And even now, after angering her to this point, Mammon still does not make a move. It was a risky bet, but I now know it to be true. They could not kill me even if they wanted to.

"Isn't that what you just did to me? Mammon, you act more like a kid than I do, and I am sure you are much, much older than I am." I yelled back. I was not going to let her off easy. But I guess my age jab really ticked her off because she started coming towards me. But this was good. At least she was focused on me.

"Mammon, this is not what we agreed upon!" A voice filled the room as a white winged man suddenly appeared.

"Michael! You were the one who asked me to come down here and make this girl do something for once! Why are you stopping me? You even went out of your way to give me all those souls!" Mammon yelled. I do wonder why they all yell so much. It does get annoying.

"I asked you to make her use her angel powers. Not to go around threatening to kill her family. Are you an idiot?" Michael asked with a sneer. I am starting to wonder who the bad guy was here. An angel tells the demon to come harm people and even pays them. What makes him any different from a demon?

I really couldn't understand these idiots. "Why don't you just tell me how to use them instead of doing stupid things!?"

Of course, my voice was completely ignored. Pissed, I shot a dark bolt at the white haired freak. But it seemed he had some kind of barrier because it didn't even make him flinch. "Tch…. You are no different from a demon."

"You can think what you will," Michael answered softly.

"Heh… you won't even explain how to gain anything but want to kill innocent people. You are supposed to be on the side of good, but you are no different than the slutty demon with a loud mouth over there." I muttered to myself. But I guess Demons have good ears because Mammon shouted: "Don't put me in the same boat as that bitch Asmodeus!"

"You are all the same to me. So do me a favor and leave if you are not going to tell me how to gain points. And if you truly wish to harm the people around me, then I guess we can forget this game. Because I will do as I said." I was not joking. I do not think I could ever live with myself if my family members were hurt because of these bastards. I do not want to see the scorn and hatred they would have towards me if someone was harmed because I was a chess piece in a stupid game for some messed up higher race of beings.

Michael sighed as he turned and looked at me: "You only need to follow one of the virtues. To gain points before, you showed the sin of wrath. To gain angel points, you will need to show one of the virtues, but it can not be a small matter. It must force you to use one of your forms. Without transforming, you will not be able to gain anything. I can not tell you any more than this. You need to work the rest out yourself." After saying this, he grabbed Mammon and disappeared.

Time once more started up, and the sound of music began playing once again. I quickly shifted back to my human form so no one would see. "So basically, I need to act out one of the sins or virtues…. Such a pain!"

I did not want to do such a thing, but it seemed this was the only way. What made this even more difficult was that I had no idea what the rest of the sins and virtues were. The angel just now didn't even introduce himself. I only know his name from Michael.

I walked back to my seat and sat down. Slouching down as I held my head. "Bella?" My mother called out to me. She would always notice when something was wrong.

"Mother, time was just stopped, and one demon and one angel stopped in. they were going to harm one of you in order to get me to use my powers. But luckily, I am rude enough to anger the demon." My mother placed her hand on my head. I looked up at her and saw her lip quivering. I did not think this was enough to make her cry. "Mother?"

"Bella…. I am sorry I can not help you with what is happening. I had no idea time had even stopped. It pains me to know that you are dealing with these powerful beings all on your own." My mother leaned down and hugged me, burying her face into my hair.

"Mother, don't worry. I will grow stronger using the stupid power they have granted me. I now know how to gain more points for the shops. I will train even harder and become strong enough to fight them. I will not allow them to control me or harm those close to me." This was not just a pledge to my mother but to myself as well. I had to grow stronger no matter what.

"You will be starting at the academy after the competition. Your father and I will do everything we can to assist you. But I think it might be good for you to get some proper training outside. Bella…. Would you like to venture outside the walls?" My mother's words caused my ears to perk up. I had been dying to see what truly lay beyond the walls.

"Mmm…. I would like to." I replied instantly. Real world training was much better than mock battles. Having to fight with your life on the line was the best training one could have. I know this because I have been there. Worrying about when you will be attacked or who you can trust. I lived through it all during my training in my past life all the way until the day I died.
