After an unknown disease occured on Earth , humans were dying left to right showing no signs of stopping.

Scientists and doctors tried everything in their power to work together and try to solve the pandemic but achieved no results.

One day , the disease suddenly just disappeared. No one knows where or why it even existed but later on , humans started awakening elemental abilities.

Human civilization revolutionized so much that humans weren't afraid about space anymore.

Rules on earth have changed and so has the landscape of the planet. The people who awaken are called Rankers. 

But theirs always a downside to a merry world , animals have also obtained the ability to harness elements and have been improving faster than humans. 

Now fictional myths like dragons and phoenix's now exist due to the evolution of the animals due to the element they posses.

Earth has been in peace but the animals have started to become stronger and much more wilder than ever. Humans were able to hold them off but it isn't possible to keep them alive anymore.

Some animals are classified as beasts with different ranks. Humans also have ranks that differ when there power increases.

Some animals have also attained the ability of self-awareness which led to them conquering other animals and making them into servants or part of their group.

Humans have now abolished the term 'animals' and instead use 'beast' when they confirmed that they were getting to dangerous.

A war between beasts and humans are close to approaching. 

There's no hero or villain.

It's about survival.

No matter who won.

They would of survived in the end.

The protagonist of this novel wants to survive in the world he lives in.

He will accomplish his goal.

He needs to survive.

That's the only choice.

Darkness Element

A boar appeared infront of Kioshi. It looked towards Kioshi and screeched at him.


Kioshi wanted to try his Umbrakinesis and lifted his hand upwards and willed the boars shadow to move up.


The boars shadow started to slowly move upwards and pierce the boars skin.


"Skweee!" The boar roared as it felt pain underneath it. It tried moving but it's shadow wouldn't budge from it's spot.


Kioshi only looked at the boor and tried studying it to see if he could improve the way dealt with it. "Should I have willed it's shadow towards it's brain?" Kioshi was figuring out a way to kill the boar quicker.


While Kioshi was thinking , more boars appeared from the bushes. They seemed to have heard the screeching of their fellow race and came to help. Kioshi who saw the amount of boars that appeared didn't show any fear but instead looked towards them and held up his hand. "It seems I can control shadows but 2 is my limit. I already feel lightly fatigued when manipulating one boars shadow." Kioshi felt that controlling 2 shadows was his limit.


There were 5 boars in front of Kioshi, including the one that was almost dead. Kioshi remembered that his ability had a decaying property, so he didn't need to worry about the boar regenerating it's wound. Kioshi concentrated and created a dark ball within his hand that he lifted up. He pumped in more mana within the ball, and it started to expand in size. Kioshi almost fell to his knees since the ball of darkness was increasing in weight. "Phew." Kioshi stopped pumping mana within it.


The boars who looked at the dark ball felt extremely threatened. Their instincts were screaming telling them to run and that's what they did. They screeched and tried to run.


But Kioshi, who saw that they were about to turn around and run, threw the dark ball towards them and the result was shocking.


When the dark ball passed the ground beneath it, it started to corrode. Nothing was left. The ball made its way to the boars at a blinding speed which a normal living being wouldn't be able to see and crashed into them.


The boar's wails were short as their bodies started to disappear immediately when it made contact with Kioshi's dark ball.


"What the hell?" Kioshi didn't expect the result of his planning. He only planned to create a massive sphere with his darkness element while pumping in mana to make it stronger, but it exceeded his expectations.


Kioshi lowered his hand and thought to himself. 'I need some combat experience.' Kioshi realized although his ability could destroy his enemies, what if he was out of energy? On that thought, Kioshi called up his status.


Kioshi realized that the attack he made took a considerable amount of stamina from his body. He didn't feel weak however since his body has been well trained to withstand pressure.


"I should head back first and try to learn close-combat to improve my range of fighting." Kioshi decided that he would learn close combat while also thinking of bringing a weapon.


He resolved his decision and walked to the exit.


Kioshi didn't have a problem going out of the area and checked his phone. He searched for close-combat related topics and ways to acquire them and found a battle workshop nearby. "Seems I'm heading here."


He switched off his phone and walked towards the battle workshop. He never really went into one but knew what it was. It stored techniques from previous people who trained for more than 100 years with it. Their training is recorded in a crystal-like object which is then stored. It can be used as reference or learning material if one wants to learn how to fight. Currently, awakeners could only take 2 from the workshop for free.


It wasn't long until he reached his destination. "I guess this is where I'll choose my crystal."
