SHADOWS AND INTENTIONS

“Mide” Ire croaked out as she set her eyes on her brother's frail body, a guard had accompanied against her will, according to them, Her brother, Mide, The sweetest, kindest and most caring person she ever knew...was...Dangerous?

What did they know? how can they just label him like that? how? The worst part was the higher-ups were throwing him under the bus, like a scapegoat. Her brother was helpless once again, like When he was when their parents died When Gina constantly battled with her for her brother's affection When she was dragged away and arrested. The only difference was this time.

Mide was not alone. The events of the past few weeks had become a complete blur, from Temi's death To Gina's secret, and now, Mide is being accused of killing Gina? The same Mide that was willing to put his relationship with his sister at stake, just to get married to her? Did he kill Gina? That doesn't make sense at all. What sort of person would do so much for someone to just end up killing them? only a ma— Ire's eyes widened in realization. they weren't trying to frame her brother or send him to prison. Someone was trying to drive him insane!

Her breath picked up as she stared at him through the glass that separated them. He looked so peaceful, staring out of the window in that white start jacket, Unlike what they had all described. what was going on? Ire hit her lip as she tried not to shed tears. She had to be strong for him. mode didn't acknowledge her presence, he was too busy in his mind. Ire wiped her moist eyes with her sleeves. “I want to be alone with him” she suddenly spoke to the guard her voice at an octave she never knew it could reach. “I am sorry I cannot—” the guard began to protest but she shut him off.

“I Don't care what you have to say! that's my brother in there! I want to see him! I don't care if I have to tear down this hospital, I will talk to him, now” Sh gritted out her eyes filled with emotions and demeanor firm. The guard sighed as she opened the door for her and proceeded to walk in with her, Ire stopped him almost immediately.

“Alone” she whispered firmly. causing the man to go back outside. Now that she was with her brother, Ire had a few questions she needed him to answer, but first, she needed to bring him out of his state of shock, for him, her, and Every person they held dear.

Seyi frowned as he sipped on his wine. His eyes never leaving his prey, it was one thing to not like someone, and another thing to watch their hard work go down the drain. Seyi was not Mide's friend. but he wasn't an Enemy Either. Besides, What better way to get on Mide's nerves than to solve the case before he did. His prey was currently sitting opposite him, wearing a hoodie that covered up their face while tapping on the table.

They are waiting for someone, but who? Seyi could not help but wonder. His attention was shifted as the bartender tapped him, he turned but the man was no longer there, he whipped his head back to his prey as he realized something was wrong.

The only catch was, His prey, Was gone. Had he not been careful enough? He jumped to his feet and sprinted across the mini bar, bumping into drunkards and prostitutes without a second thought. When fresh air finally hit his nostrils he sighed in relief. Unfortunately though, He could not find his prey anymore. Shoot! Seyi carefully looked around, he knew The person could not just disappear, but before he could deduce his bearing, A knife was brought. to his neck as he was shoved to the wall.

“Who are you? And why are you following me” His prey whispered harshly.

Seyi flashed a small smile. “I almost thought you'd never show your face. Hannah” The girl smiled and replied. “And I almost thought you'd be smarter than this, Seyi” With that she stabbed him in the stomach, then disappeared into the shadows.

“The biometrics just came back,” Demola said gloomily as he strolled into the conference room where his teammates were waiting.

They frowned ad they recognized the look on his face “Don't tell me—” Jane began but Demola finished. “Mide's fingerprints were all over the place” his voice held so much sadness that even Tayo had second thoughts about saying a witty remark. Now was not the time.

“This isn't happening” Jane whispered as she ran her hands through her hair.

“What did the higher-ups say?” she demanded in a low voice. She was curious to know whether or not they were going to support Mide or throwing him under the bus. Either way, she had already made up her mind on whose side she was on.

“They're assigning a new head of investigative department tomorrow,” Demola said as he leaned on the wall, this was all too much, even for him.

“B-but they can't do that! No one can do it like Mide! this isn't right! What in the world is going on?” Jane lamented as she paced about like it was her job.

“We need to do something, I don't know about you, But for a detective as smart as Mide, killing someone and leaving fingerprints and even yourself at the crime scene isn't exactly smart.” Tayo finally spoke up, causing Demola to raise his head and Jane to stop in her tracks.

“What do you mean?” “What would Mide do if one of us was a suspect in a crime that we probably did not commit?” He asked the rhetorical question. Jane's eyes lit up and Demola gave a small smile, Tayo just smirked. It was an unsaid plan. but it was a plan after all.

They were going to get to the bottom of it, like the team they were.
