It was about eight thirty when Mr. Edward himself came to pick me up my slumber.
"Come have breakfast with me dear." Exclaimed he with a knock at my door as I was staring through the window of my bedroom.
My room placed up the last floor of the mansion with it's window view pointing straight to the villa fields that were filled with yellow flowers. Out where over twenty workers trimming the fields and at the very end of the gardens caught my eye.
There sat a young man with his back facing the front. He looked lost in thoughts and rather disturbed by his work.
I walked out my room finding Mr. Edward turned at the support of his walking stick gazing at me.
"Breakfast. I shall pass." Said I locking my door room behind. "You can go on. Have your breakfast Mr. Edward, I will be by the fields if you need to find me. "
Alright. Head on then. Will be with you in a few minutes."
I walked passed him and out I went slowing to the other side of the field with my attention set to meeting the young boy i had seen.
Had a belief that maybe I could catch him there but rather, he had left from the place. It wasn't in my keen ways to get my attention drawn by random individuals. But to my sight, it looked like he needed help.
I kept walking through the field as I watched everyone busy. It looked like an harvest for the fact that they where all collecting flowers.
As I continued with my tour, I again saw the young man. I rushing forward to my left where he stood but distracted by Mr. Edward who caught my hand in a sudden.
"Miss Lyle." He snapped.
"Yes Mr. Edward. Who is that young man over there?" Asked I.
"Him?" He pointed. "That's Maximus Simmons. What's about him. I always tell him not to go around these parts of the field."
"No! No! It's alright. He doesn't seem fine though. Can I talk to him. Have a word just the two of us?" Inquired I with the need.
"I can talk to him if he bothers you child. It's my job."
"He doesn't bother me. If so then I would be clear enough don't you think? I just need to talk to him. Later on after we are done. "
"Okay. As you wish. Maximus!" He called. "Miss Lyle requests for your attention later this evening. Make sure you make it to the big house. "
"Yes Mr. Edward. " responded he with a slightly soft voice that had me questioning.
I threw him a smile and headed on directed by Mr. Edward to the other side of the field.
We walked around the garden and down the road that led to the Duskwick gold mine.
It was a large place than what I had imagined. Mr. Edward had said that not any worker from the field was allowed to get to the mine and the same as the mines. Father had kept everything in its order as he had imagined.
"Let's head in go see how the workers inside are doing. Introduce me to them." Requested I and he in no minute agreed to my request.
We slowly led our way down the dark entrance where at the exact supposed door way, he lit a flaming stick candle.
"Down these mines is where your father's magic worked the most. Especially this mine. His own first found mine. " Mumbled Edward.
"What do you mean by that?" Inquired I.
"Oh! Wait. You will fall in love with what's down here."
We had walked down but to my surprise, no worker was seen at any stance until the very inside when we met a bold man Mr. Edward mentioned to be Duksta.
"Don't hide the boys, we are in good company." Exclaimed Edward tapping Duksta's shoulder who by far had said nothing.
He had his eyes on me all the time and after a while, he muttered.
"Rumors are. Master Lyle is dead."
"Should we talk about that right now?" Asked Edward to cover up the question.
"You mean father's workers have no idea that their boss passed on?" Questioned I seeking bizarre to the say.
"It's you. Who the boss always talked about. Your Mistress young Lyle." He mentioned with a deeper and more angry tone...
"Duksta please. Let's walk passed this and keep working." Begged Edward.
"We can't be alive, there is no way to that Mr. Edward. He can't be dead. The Master can't be dead."
"Let's see the work you boys have been doing here and we shall explain everything in dew time.
I looked in exhalation with the doubt and belief in my eyes. The moment Mr. Edward asked Duskta if we could see the work, he in no minute appeared everywhere.
It was him but in different positions doing different tasks.
I first thought of it as a joke but insisted on keeping my trust close. Feeling those faces I could touch.
"And these are your brothers Mr. Duskta.?" Asked I.
"Oh.. please call me Duskta mistress. He smiled. These are all me. Thanks to your father."
"No. No." Denied I. "This can't be real. Are you playing a trick on me mister Edward.
"As I told you, this place is moved by your father's magic. All these men are his invention."
"But if he passed, they must not be here Mr. Edward." Assured Duskta.
He was a very bold man as his own voice. He wore an apron that sat at the very skin of his own chest with a pair of tone trousers and bare foot that all about forty of the other workers looked like.
Despite his appearance to be dumb, he was rather a handsome blond short head man who wore a dog tag necklace with his name on it.
"He never moves from here. Sunset to dawn. And he never complains about it either." Explained Mr. Edward.
"Who is this man?" Inquired I.
"Him? He is one of the many your father saved from there own doom."
