Chapter 6 Echoes

"Is this what I think it is?" Grace echo.

******

"Yes," Steve replied.

"How can you guys have such a big library and an armory in this house? What else is hidden in this house " Grace wondered.

"Look around pick any weapon of your choice cause it will be of help to you in your journey"

"But there are so many of them?"

"When you see the right one you will know it"

Grace looked around seeing different kinds of weapons she hasn't seen or heard of, but then she started feeling a strange energy coming from them. She scrunched her brows and looked up at Stave.

"I feel strange energy coming them," she said to him.

"You're right these are not ordinary weapons they have gone through purification ".

" Purification?" Grace was confused.

"Yes. A regular weapon can kill other creatures, not demons, and maybe be vampires. That's why we purify them just in case "

"Vampires?" Grace rephrased. " And why is it maybe?".

"That's what I've heard. I've never seen one before. And back to the purification, you as a Lockwood you can purify weapons or even empower them with your grace".

"Wait my grace?"

"Yes, you are a Lockwood which makes you somehow have the grace of an angel if not one yourself. And the other alternative is holy water if a Lockwood is absent. But all these weapons here have been purified by your mother ".

"Oh! Okay " Grace exclaimed. Then she started looking around again in search of the perfect weapon. She thought of picking something light that she can easily carry with her. And she saw two daggers at the end she immediately liked them but when she looked at the weapon placed next to them, she felt a connection it was as if it was calling out to her. She stretched out her hand to pick it. Holding it in her hands she felt as though they were one.

"Wow... It's amazing".

"Yes I know, it's chosen you".

"What do you mean?" Grace asked him swindling the sword around.

"That was your mother's sword"

"You mean this?" Grace looked at him.

"Yes. I mean that's not her original sword if you are wondering why she left it here. This sword was a gift given to her"

"By who?" Grace asked.

"I don't know. So tell me how does it feel?"

"Like it was fated, " Grace said looking at the sword. "How am I supposed to carry this around ?" She asked.

"You're not supposed to look," he said stretching his hand and a white smoke came out of his hand gradually taking the shape of a sword.

"Wow... That's awesome" Grace exclaimed. "Can you teach me?"

"Sure" Steve replied. "It's simple, just wish it to disappear and called it forth whenever you want"

"Okay," so Grace followed his instructions and commanded it to disappear but it didn't.

"Why is it not working?" Grace was perplexed.

"You don't command it, you talk to it because it can understand you ".

"Oh! Let me try again " Grace took a breath closed her eyes talked to it in her mind and she felt its energy slowly depleting until it disappeared.

"Yes I did it " she was excited.

"Yes, you did. Now call it forth"

Grace did and it appeared on her first attempt.

"Not bad for someone who just learned about the supernatural world" he complimented her.

*****

"Good day sister " a young man greeted one of the nuns.

"Good day how may I help you?"

"I believe you took a child in eighteen years ago I like to know where the child is"

"Sorry, but we took a lot of children in at that period".

"I think this one is special. Blonde hair, eyes as bright as the sun or rather the opposite" he said amicably making the nun feel an overwhelmed peace. She didn't know when she replied to him cause she knew she was safe.

"I think I know who you are looking for," she said.

"Who?"

"Her name was Grace "

"What do you mean by was?"

"Cause she left a few days ago "

"Can you tell me where she went?"

"I don't know sir, but it was her mother that took her" It was as if a lighting struck down on the man.

"Carissa is alive?" He muttered to himself. Now he realized the reason why he always hit a wall in his search. And it's only going to be harder for him from now on.

"Okay thank you," he said and was about to leave when he heard the nun's voice.

"If you don't mind Can... can I hold your hands for a moment" the nun couldn't push away the feeling that this person In front of her was not an ordinary man.

"Sure," he said with a smile on his face and stretched forth his hand for her to take. She held on to his hand wishing not to leave his presence she felt the light coming off him and she wanted to partake in it. She reluctantly let go of his hands after a while.

"Thank you so much for understanding" She appreciated him.

"You're welcome " he replied with a smile before walking away.

*****

Grace played on her bed feeling exhausted from all the sword training she had all through the day despite Stave advising her to take a break.

"God, I'm so exhausted. I don't think I can even move a muscle out of this bed right now" she said rolling to her side. She fell asleep immediately without taking her bath.

Grace fell into a dreaming state. She found herself in a dark place without a single ray of light.

"Hello? Who is there?" Her voice echoed in the darkness.
