Chapter Nine

Right as I reach my locker the school bell rings announcing the end of the school day.

Before I am able to leave I hear Lorenzo call out to me through the students. He was huffing a bit, clearly having something urgent to say.

"Nora told me about some disagreement between you guys. And you didn't show so we were a bit worried."

"I was... Uh... I wanted time alone." I could tell that he did not believe me.

"I should go and I'll see you tomorrow?"

"Yeah... tomorrow." He wanted to say something but held back and watched me leave.

I sighed, biting my lip as I push open the door.

Closing the door to my home, a maid that takes care of cleaning the litter box in my room while I am at school approaches me.

"Miss Sheila, I come to inform you of a new arrival."

At first I was confused and then I thought and figured she was talking about the kitten.

"Thank you, I assume she's in my room?"

"Yes."

She moves away as I hurry my feet up the stairs. I push the door open and there on my bed in a small cage is the speckled feline.

Snowell puts her paws through the holds of cage, interested in her sister's tail that moved away from her paws.

Opening the door to the cage I let the kitten come out on her own.

"Mmm... Nori?"

The name Nori for the kitten was a name Lorenzo had suggested for one of Nora's animal's. She had declined the name.

I went and grabbed a toy for Nori. She slowly came out of the cage, watching the feather that was attached to the toy. She leapt and fell off the bed, nails digging into the blanket before falling completely.

Moving the small cat cage to the floor, I then took out my phone. I texted Lorenzo about Nori the black dotted white kitten, ignoring our earlier conversation.

After a bit of chatting with him, I grew a bit bored. He gave me a great chance to ignore him from the last text he sent. The text was about Nora and about Zaxton, though he used baddest of the bad boys instead of his name.

Even though I was bored, I had to finish Nori's list. With some painstaking thinking I concluded it done.

Father came back and wanted me down for dinner. He brought up the new kitten I had taken in when I joined him.

"I named her Nori," I stated with a smile.

He nodded his head in approval and excused himself from the table.

A little disappointed with the conversation I left the plate of food and headed back to room.

Looking out my window I let myself get lost in thought.

Nora is not waiting at the entrance as usual. It was either because of the light rain or see did not want to see me.

I find Nora in the classroom drawing in her notebook. She kept her gaze focused on it as I got closer.

Nora lightly speaks, apologizing for yesterday morning.

"You were only stating your opinion," I stated.

"I was... anyway what is with you and the hot player," she demands.

"There's pictures of you both at lunch and some were not from yesterday but the day before. Spill! Cause clearly he has intentions and there are not good."

Pictures!? I wanted a least the rest of the week before any big rumors start.

"Nora you see, Zax- he is not my type. Why would I like him?" I turn to look out the window, feeling heat rise up to my cheeks from the slip up.

Nora pouts besides me, saying that I was not telling her everything.

"Who is Zax?" I shush her as people come into the room.

"What do mean? Who are you talking about?" I whisper, trying to get her to let it go.

"Don't pretend."

I did not want to say anything more and stayed quiet as more and more classmates came.

One classmate started talking with Zaxton and others around them laughed. I did not hear what David said next to make Zaxton so angry that he loudly stood up and glared at David. David continues and I hear my name.
