We Met Again

It was a subtle scent, but it made him all furious and wary. All his life, he was able to alter these urges by drinking blood that's not under the intent to kill nor to sacrifice a person. He was disgusted by how these mere fangs would cause someone's health to become infested, likely to even die after so much loss of blood. Which happened to his mother.

So then, why did a stranger's blood, a woman to the extent, have given him these infuriating urges? He has never felt this hungry before. Never felt this thirsty over a human's blood so much as he wanted to just snatch her nape.

"W-what's wrong with me? I have never been this hungry before? Was it because it was my first ever for over many years to taste blood from humans again? Or has the dork given me some sort of supplements along with the blood?" He went straight to his apartment, sped up after he felt the rising desires engulfed his sickening system.

After he stepped in his apartment, the first he could ever think of was filling his veins with the blood given to him. As if he was a rampaging beast, he drank every contraption of blood there is, even the blood inside the bottle of wine. And yet, he could not grasp the sense of fulfillment. He needs more.

"Geez, has no one ever told you to knock on someone's door first before you come in?" Conrad was wearing his regular white coat, but this time he had his glasses on as he stared at some sort of machine.

"What are you doing?"

Conrad looked at him and back to that machine, or whatever it was, he doesn't know what people like Conrad names it.

"Uh, obviously, I'm doing my job. What about you? What are you doing? Barging in a professional doctor's office carrying plastics?" He stood up and removed his glasses, went to his table and jotted down his notes.

He then drops those plastics to show him the empty contraptions, where blood was filled in. Also a couple of bottles that were as light as a feather after they were fully emptied. After that, he stared at Conrad who had his lips parted, eyes in shock, and his brows were curling upwards.

Conrad could not believe what he was seeing. Before his eyes was multiple vacate of bags, the bottles of blood that he asked one of his underlings to deliver straight to his apartment was even as empty as ever.

"H-how, w-why? W-what? How in the world did you get to finish them in just a blink of an eye? Look, I understand how delightfully good a human's blood taste like, after all we're vampires, but goodness me, you haven't even lasted a week and yet this is what I'm already seeing? Look how desperate you have become, nevertheless your complexion still looks uncanny to me. There must be a specific reason for this? Speak up now." He demanded, as he shook his hand in disbelief.

Luther pressed his mouth close, he was hesitating. But then, he has to say something or else this guy right here who thinks he looks very depressed and stressed, but doesn't really look like it, might just clasp him into two.

"A… woman…" He muttered slowly, diverting his gaze as he had an awkward form of his lips, his cheeks were twitching, and to top that his face turned very reddish.

"What? Is this some sort of hearing aid challenge? Can't you speak even louder?"

"A woman…"

"Huh?"

"I said, it was because of a woman's endearingly good scent! Hear it now?"

They had a stern halt for a second before Conrad burst into laughter, holding his stomach, as his one fist was covering his mouth. He could not help but react to such a thing.

"Can't you stop placing me as a ridiculing matter? This is serious, Con guy."

"Con gu-, nevermind." He cleared his throat and fixed his inside suit. "Oh, wow. Hadn't laugh that hard in a while now. But, men, you're cringey. Seriously? So you're here telling me that you finished my one to two week stocks of blood just because of a woman's scent? This is unbelievable, I thought you know how to held in your desires? Now what?"

Conrad was right, it was unbelievable even to his own perspective. Drinking that much blood has been a first for him as well. He thought that the animals will provide for him for the rest of his life, after going through a situation were he was assigned to be looked after by another vampire, he had the thought that maybe he could cling to this packages of bag for quite a while, but then if this sudden robust of urges keeps on coming in, he was not certain if Conrad could help him still.

"I assure you this won't ever happen again, It was only that time. I had decided to roam around the city and to my surprise, a human was capable of causing such a massive reaction to this horrid body of mine. However I'm much more surprised that I finished all that blood." Bowing his head down out of embarrassment.

"You better be surprised, huh." He heaved a sigh. "Look, as someone who has the right to these bloods, I can't just take advantage of it all the time. As a doctor, I also have my pride in keeping people healthy and safe. So, if you can, please hold back. Most of the time, people need it more than you are." Conrad stated, he went outside for a moment and that was an intuition that he was fetching his some more.

Admittedly, the idea of not proceeding here had cross his mind. However, he remembered what Conrad told him, that to trust him when it comes to blood and so he did. Now that he's here, he realized how much disturbance he has caused.

"Stop overthinking and just carry on with these." Conrad dropped a huge black plastic bag in front of him. It smelled like iron as it surrounded the space.

"That was fast…" He said, carried the bag afterwards.

"Well, vampire things, I suppose."

He was about to leave when he turned to face Conrad to thank him when suddenly they both initiated a conversation.

"Uh-"

"Luther-"

They stopped and sighed.

Conrad started. "Before you leave, don't let anyone see you. Use your energy this time and when you come back, make sure to knock. As a sound of respect and basic etiquette, you hear me?"

"Loud and clear." Luther replied, nodding his head.

"Now, what were you going to tell me?" Conrad asked.

"Nothing. Just thank you for this. I'm not sure how to repay you for it but I definitely will." Luther responded.

Conrad took a few seconds before he could react to it. It was his first time hearing a man, especially a vampire, express their gratitude to him. He always runs errands for Darrick, either to satisfy his own needs or to satisfy the rest. But now, he sees why Darrick has gotten too attached to Luther. This man's empathy and kindness must have endeared him. Well, not generally kind to Darrick, he reckoned. However, seeing him grew his complexion dim and dark, just for the sake of the people? Good amount of guts.

"Whatever, man. You don't need to repay me or what. I'm just doing you a simple favor. Besides, you're not that rich nor do you have something valuable to repay me." He bluntly said, turning his back.

"That's true, I've got no luxuries with me. But, I'll keep my word with you."

With that being said, he left the hospital building. Rushing inside his apartment, arranging the stocks like how it used to be before.

"I should really be careful now. I didn't know that people in this city can be quite the stunner." He remembered that woman's scent again, almost making him lose it just by thinking about it. "Haaah, I should sleep, shouldn't I? This isn't good, no, not good at all."

And so, he slept that day. Tried so hard to close his eyes and never blink them open. It was morning, it was 6 o'clock already, it was just the right moment to head back to bed. After he roamed around, keeping his sanity safe, he felt a bit tired. Tired? That's right, it was weird for him to feel like he was a vampire but he couldn't help it. He was confused but before he realized it, he was already dragged in by the darkness.

That day, night visited the bright city of Manhattan. The moon constructed along with the lights spread across the infrastructures. Within that light crossed the windows of his apartment and the curtains moved.

He settled down, placed both of his hands on his head, intensely massaging it. Inside, he was deeply panicking. His eyeballs widened.

"This can't be. I can't sleep at all!" He screamed, stood up as he felt his heart thumping loudly.

He bit his lower lip as he started roaming back and forth of his bedroom. Thinking of numerous excuses to cover up this unusual behaviour of his. But, no matter what, he can't pinpoint just what to say to this happening.

"I spent all 12 hours trying to sleep, but what did I do? I was a jerk, a basic dumb guy, who can't even surface the fact that it's because of that weird freaking scent. That scent that got me wasting a week stock of blood, made me rush off to that guy's office, and finally this! Just great! Now, what am I going to do-"

Before he could continue to vent his frustrations out, he suddenly felt a slight shaking of the ground. It made him dizzy and his vision went hazy. To top that, it was more like a blow than an earthquake. It was subtle but the mass of strength brought was dense. Electricity shutted down for a second and started again on its own.

"Huh? What was that? Earthquake?" He went to the window and peered out. Everything looks the same. "That was weird, maybe there was a power shortage? I'm not certain, anyway, who cares."

He had a dry throat, after sipping all that blood, which must have resulted in this. "I should eat some food as well. Let's see…" Opened his fridge to see all the unfamiliar viants, desserts, and other foods.

"What is this? Nothing that I could even eat." Complained and closed the fridge.

He scratched his head before he went and grabbed some clothes to cover up his skin as he came up with an idea to go to some 'convenient stores' as Conrad would say, he was given a card so he can buy as much as he wants to.

He stared at the mirror, wearing a new hooded long-sleeved shirt, a cap, and a black mask. "Is this enough? Should be, right?"

Going out, even with all these clothes, he was being stared at intensely. As if it wasn't enough! The minds of this generation can never be outdone by him. At the elevator, a bunch of drunk women totally had to silence after seeing him, then the security guard had to look at him twice, and lastly as he was walking down the streets, the amount of people giving him these frightening stares is uncountable.

After entering the store, the cashier swiped his card multiple times.

"Don't worry, robbing such a small store is not my thing." This time, he had to step up for himself.

The cashier then gave him back his card, he took his plastic bags, and went straight back to his apartment. As he was walking back to his apartment, he heard some woman squealing not too far away. He wanted to avoid it, but no matter what, he had such a strong urge to help. He felt the presence of a couple of men surrounding that woman. This is one of his physical skills as a vampire.

"Fuc-" He cursed before dashing to help that woman.

To his shock, after he inserted himself in the narrowed passageways, he saw her. Maybe he was only mistaken and so he attempted to stop this crime early in the night.

"Hey!" Shouted by Luther, trying to steal the attention of these rugged men.

He succeeded, they did look back at him, and at that particular moment. He was stunned, Luther could not believe his eyes. A woman who had such dazzling hair, wearing a red silky dress, and arms full of bruises from these men's harsh touches. From then on, the scent came back to his nostrils. Before he was engulfed by all these alluringness. He controlled it and focused on these ugly blokes.

"What do you think you're doing, this is our territory!" One exclaimed.

"Territory, huh?" He dashed to attack them all with the advantage of his speed. He beat them all to a pulp and never let them the chance to fight back.

Luther saw how the woman was silently observing him, not only that but rather than being shocked, she had such sparkly eyes. He sighed and grabbed her, carried her in bridal style after hearing that he had attracted some people with the noise that came from them.

Now that they were inside one of the apartments of the same building, he decided to sneak in first.

"U-uhm, how could I repay you for your kindness, sir? Sir?" Her delicate but sweet voice immediately had an effect on him.

He bit his arm to control that urge but this woman! This woman had the guts to even grab him.

What will he do?
