Who?

"Luther…"

"Luther!"

"Luther!"

His ears were ringing, his vision was pitch black, and all he could think of was how to escape that nightmare. He was trapped within his own head, someone was calling for him and yet, he could not answer them.

'What happened to me? Why can't I force my eyes to open? And that scent, where did it come from? Was it her? Was she nearby?' He could not help but bombarded his head with questions unanswered.

The only thing he remembered was him getting out of that mysterious and terrible place, the place where he landed another trouble saving a certain woman, now he was thinking to himself. If he could have saved his mother like what he is doing now, it would have been a much better world for him.

"Luther!"

This time, he could already notice who owns this voice. He groaned in frustration, massaging his head, and woke up with bright lights shone in front of him. He was lying down and the ceiling was all nothing but shimmering lights. It was only worsening the headache he was feeling, the nausea rapidly rushed through his brain as well, making him hold on to the bed he was on.

"Stop shouting my freaking name and just tell me where I am?" He panicked, closing his eyes, and his forehead all curled.

"Huh, where else? Of course you're in my quarters again. Surprised that's the first question you ask, I should be the one to ask you where the heck did you go off again?" The amount of stress poured in those words made Conrad scoffed out loud.

Luther still could not grasp reality so he went back to lying down, had a couple of deep breaths before opening his eyes again. He could not feel his muscles, his entire body was somehow numb, he was a vampire, yet after he used all his might that night, it made his energy drained down to a pulp. He was yet to recover and now he has truly done the tragedy to himself. All for the sake of those people's safety.

"How did you find me? I'm pretty sure I was far away from the hospital." He questioned him, still stuck within his core thought of what was happening.

"Don't you dare underestimate me. And is that ever important right now? Knowing that you haven't regained your energy and yet you're picking up a fight in an illegal place? Do you know what you were getting yourself into? Chaos, Luther, I tell you, Chaos!" Conrad was extremely frustrated by the situation, massaging his head, heavily sighing, while shaking his head.

He spaced out for a second, his head was still spinning but unlike before, it's much better now. Conrad fetched him some blood again and he began to fill his system with it. The sensation and sense of relief struck him as he was sipping that bag of red blood.

"You know what they did to those women?" Luther asked, however, he wasn't looking for any answers. Straightly looking at the emptiness as he reminisced all the memories of yesterday.

Conrad gulped harshly, he settled down for a seat.

"They were just like those hideous creatures that murdered my mother. They were cruel. I can't help but involve myself when almost the exact same scene flashed before my eyes. And if I did not save those women then, I would have been far more hideous than those men." His voice was deep, yet the clear sorrow as he cited what happened that night.

Conrad remained silent, he could not think of a word to say to him. It made him realize that even though this man had lived for so long, as a vampire, someone immortal. Inside, he still was a basic human being. Unlike him, Conrad wanted himself to be a vampire, yet it wasn't the case for Luther. Now he's contemplating.

He stood up and took something out of his drawer, it was documents of the filed case for the doings of the men at that bar. Turns out, they never had any permit, well of course, it was illegal. In that shrouded place, many arising cases appeared. Including abuse, rape, drugs, and a lot more. The women were reported safe and the place was shut down.

Luther widened his eyes at Conrad who was only nodding at him. "How long was I unconscious?" Almost gasping at these numerous events that occured when he thought that everything happened only yesterday.

"Huh, now you're asking. Well, if we also add up to this day. Then, you've been unconscious for two whole weeks now."

"Two weeks?!" He exclaimed, almost jumping out of his bed.

"Calm down, calm down, and yes. You've been there," Conrad pointed to the bed. "For two weeks now. I'm not even lying to you right now. If you can remember the date that you were in that place and the date that's on my calendar right now. You would notice it."

He was utterly surprised. He never grew unconscious for that long. It made him furrow his brows. He attempted to stand up yet Conrad stopped him.

"I made you drink something for your stamina so you can't just stand yet or else you'll be knocked down again." He instructed.

Luther followed what he said, however, he was still tempted. Somehow, he can't believe all these turn of events. When Luther felt that his system maintaned its posture already, he took a quick glance at Conrad who was doing his doctorate things.

"What are we, Conrad?" Muttering it yet he reckoned the guy hearrd him.

Conrad halted. "Are you asking me that on a whim, hypothetically, or is this because of that incident again?"

"Conrad," He plastered on a stern face. "What are we?"

"You know already exactly what we are. The moment those fangs landed in your neck, you already know what we are. There's no need for me to say it."

"So, we're monsters then? Is this the burden that I'll carry on in my life? You, you're someone who experiments right? Don't you have any idea or a hypothesis on how to end this misery? I'm sick of this. The urge to die is always there, I want to rest, I want to be with my mother-"

"But, you can't anymore! That's the crevice. You can't die, bestowed to you by these immaculate powers. The ability to counterattack almost everything. However, what's in it, there's no going back. There's nothing we can do but to live with it." Conrad was frank with him.

"Live with it? Easy for you to say because you chose this path, huh."

"And what's your problem with that? Remember, we're both still strangers to each other. You can't define me by my choices. I have no say to yours as well, what happened to you has got nothing to do me. I just hellped you here find your personal shelter. Yet, what have you brought me? Nothing but a headache." Conrad slumped the documents on the table. "Never ask me who we are, we can be anything by your perspective. Monsters or legends, who gives a care? What matters right now is how we should survive and hide this identity. You hear me?"

That was Conrad's last words before he left the room carrying all his experimental materials. It was a moment of silence for him. He barely expected those words coming form that guy, but it seems he has brought it upon himself. Now, it would be hard to openly approach the man.

He sighed, stood up, and took the documents. Viewed them one by one until one woman caught her attention. His pupils almost enlarged and he was flabbergasted. He left the room right after and godspeed his way somewhere where he thought he needed to be.

Meanwhile, Conrad went back. He was carrying foods with him and now he was confused.

"Where did he go off to?" He laid the beverages and meals on the table and notice the documents were missing. He took one deep breath in and puffed it right after. He clenched his hand to a fist. "Crap, I should have not left the documents here. Now, he's in detective mode."

He settled down at his desk and laughed. "What an inquisitive guy. Seriously, why did that old man grew fond of him? And where's that woman hiding now. Well, whatever. Not like I care." He then happily ate the the foods he bought and finished everything.

"Now that I'm full, what should I experiment with next?"

Luther went back to that place that the incident happened. He found nothing but the signs saying, "ABANDONED", "SHUT DOWN", and "DON'T ENTER". Clearly, a lot happened in the two weeks that he was dead asleep. It frustrates him at the same time he is thankful that Conrad has arranged everything for him. After all, he does not know what today's law looks like and what these people in authority are up to.

Still, what made him even more into the suspense was the photo of that woman whom he met and had a one night stand with. Inside the documents were photos of the victims, each was taken as if they were stolen; however, just beside the photo, at the edges of it, he recognized her. The color of her skin, her hair, and even her blurred visuals was clear as day for his eyes. He could not not recognize her.

"All these features, I know I'm not mistaking it, and if I remember it right I smelled that same scent. The scent that made me give in to my desires."

As the wind brushed through the bristles of his hair, that woman's fair face flashed inside his head, and all of a sudden, he heard someone whisper within the air.

"Young man Luther, what is it that you are looking for?"

He flinched, as he went in circles, trying to search where that voice came from. It was too soothing, too familiar, that it quenches his thirst to know who that was.

"Who are you? Where are you?" He asked, desperately.

"I'm the first being that you have ever bitten."

He furrowed his brows, trying to figure out what it just said. Its voice was in deep baritone, so one wouldn't know if it was a woman or a man. Yet airy, that is why he took the moment to step back and think hardly of it.

"I have only ever bitten one person and it was a she. If you are that woman speaking to me, how about you reveal yourself right here right now?" He attempted to threaten it, hoping that it would actually obey him.

However, who was he even kidding?

"Reveal myself? I'm not even in the world that you're living in. I'm just here to tell you that the one you have been searching for goes far more than just a mere distance. It would take you your entire fate to come and view from up close."

"Who are you?"

"You'll soon know. However, right now your focus is to take care of this flawed world for me. Your dimension has a lot to learn from mine." It exclaimed. "Very well then, I should finally bid my temporary farewell to you."

After that, he never heard from that being anymore. He was convinced that that was not any normal human being nor was it a vampire in disguise. If immortals and Gods were to exist, he guessed that that could be the case here.

He went back to his apartment, deeply thinking of how to find that woman. That woman that might give answers to his questions.

"What did that thing mean when it said that it will take me my entire fate to view them from up close? That's one tricky statement right there, it actually is frustrating me. And why was she in that crime area? I knew I was able to smell her scent, or was this blurred woman from the picture only a look-alike?"

He was puzzled by it. A rising chaos filled her mind as he was trying to guess who that was, but he gave up in the end.

"I need to figure out who was that or else my burning curiosity will be the end of me."
