Burning Forest and Hearts

The night Levi was ordered to do something genuinely dishonourable, to seek behind the enemy and, while they rest, destroyed his pride and broke his heart at multiple levels. Still, now it was all for the victory.

Meanwhile, the queen was talking to his sister in the capital of Lynx. At the same time, having a game of chess.

"Hey Milize, You told me this Yuuka of Asphodel had potential, but it looks like he will disappear tomorrow morning; I can't imagine why you are ordering reinforcements."

"You don't understand, sister. It is about the mind; I am sitting here now and have just words to describe my situation, but the reality has much more to it."

"Are you saying he still has an ace up his sleeve?"

"NO, I don't think he has any aces left; he has no idea of my location, the capital has been burned down, and nearby cities have been informed to barricade and be ready for an attack at any moment. So, I have sealed his pieces from all sides; it seems checkmate from all sides."

Milize gave a slight grin as, on the chessboard, she took her sister's rook and checkmated her.

"Ahhh... so why do you think he will find a chance to continue fighting? Even after he is lost from all sides. Within my thinking, I don't think that's possible."

"Because Life is not chess, there are rules to chess and warfare, but the only difference is the rules of the warfare don't hold if people betray the rules. Anything is possible."

'So, you're saying he will break the pact of rules for the warfare."

" I am sure he already has; the Brittain captain and generals who came to our land are already dead. They aren't the type of people to fight in the front, so did they die? Hum?"

"Betrayal."

"Exactly, he betrayed his allies to gain more power and control; he is good at creating chaos. Then he profits from it. I am sure he is planning something right now. I need to kill him before he can do so."

Suddenly Shin rushed into the room, interrupting the talk and giving the queen some freighting news.

"Miss Milize, the Forest... It is on fire; a large part of it is burning right now. It has become uncontrollable for the number of people we have now. For the time, we need to call the reinforcement soldiers to prevent it from spreading any further."

The details caused a sudden change in Milize's expression; she went from grinning to a little worried. Even after all these years, Yukka had still been able to surprise her with his actions.

"Call the major portion of them back; we can't lose any of the forest's major parts; a fire will cripple us for the worse if we let it spread."

"I have already requested them back; we are trying to get as many people to join the operation. The fire was started from a small part in the eastern edges of the nation. It is the place where the Asphodel forces are being engaged. It must be their work."

"Damn that Man, I want him dead right now." Anju was now furious and raging with anger.

"Calm down, Anju. If you panic here, you will play it right into his hands. We need to think more and wait; how long can he last? It'll be amusing to watch it till the end."

Milize was now gain grinning and was excited about what moves Yuuka would play next. That rule would he break to bring himself back to Life under this checkmate.

Levi arrived at the soldiers sleeping and some giving patrol; his mind was heavy, and his palms were sweaty, but he had to do what he needed to win this war.

"I need 100 foreign soldiers to gather around me at the earliest." Levi gave a loud shout that could be heard around the camp.

The soldiers were gathered, and Levi alone talked to them about the plans and actions they were about to take. He took most of the available rifles from them.

Some were ordered to set up the military's cannons, and some placed themselves at good shooting stops.

The soldiers understood the assignment and planned to move out of the camp. In contrast, the other soldier continued to read for the next day.

Under the night sky, Levi left the underground with his 38 soldiers' battalion. He moved barefoot to reach and carry any helpful resources left behind in the city by the time sun rose for the next day of battle.
