Defending the Attack.

"Jack and Crater, come with me."

Lucius called out to both of his most fast and skilled crossbowmen while running towards the courthouse. He wanted to reach before any important person could be killed.

He chooses the lower stairs of the building to reach the courthouse, to prevent a confrontation with the assassins and the design of the wall didn't allow any direct arrow attack from the sides possible.

He looked up to spot any assassins and was able to spot a hint of a man jumping from one floor to another, running after at a high speed. He would surely reach the courthouse before them if these stairs were the shortcut path.

"Jack and carter both of you. Split from the path ahead and head for the roof to the courthouse, kill any assassin you see and try to support me."

"Sir, what if they have prepared to ambush you, you can't go alone."

Jack gave his opinion freely, worrying about Lucius.

"Don't worry, we have to protect the council at any cost and no person would ever fight an enemy directly with all their force, they always keep a support force. I am betting on intelligence here."

"What if they already reached the council and killed all the members."

"...."

"I think the personal guard is skilled enough for them but we don't know what they are hiding, so we need to reach and help them quickly."

"yes, sir."

Their conservation ended while running, they reached the spilt part and went their ways, Lucius took the stairs and reached the hallway for the main entrance.

"Shit, Bloody hell!!!"

Piles of bodies of men pilled up and blood spilt on the floor, the foul smell could be sensed by anyone nearby.

"!!"

An arrow swung right by Lucius, alerting him. He looked upwards to see jack who fired an arrow to bring the phased-out Lucius.

"We are moving forward to attack, please proceed with caution." He made different hand signs to explain the plan he had in mind.

Lucius gave it a slight nod and run towards the entrance gate which was still locked.

Lucius kicked the door and opened the door to see pure chaos,

The scene could be only described as a massacre, he saw 13 royal soldiers fighting to stop the 2 assassins. Bodies of multiple council members and influential people lying dead on their seats Lucius looked around to find the Foal.

"....."

Lucius found a blood-covered body of Foal sitting on the ruler's chair, with this crown bound to the wall above with an arrow.

"You *******!!!" Lucius screamed at the top of his lungs getting attention from all the room members except the ones who were set in direct combat.

Lucius looked at the glass floor above to confirm there was no support from above. He clutched his sword and ran to the top of the round table to join the royal guard fighting the assassins.

He ran into the group of soldiers surrounding the assassins to see be completely astonished.

"They can dual-wielding swords? So easily."

Both assassins were wielding two swords in their hands while skillfully handling the enemy. their eyes were visible as their cloak wasn't on their heads.

Lucius was now anxious, his hands were now shaky, and all the anger was now turned into self-doubt.

"I couldn't even defend the kin. What is my worth now?", such thoughts entered his mind as he stood the assassins stand, countering and killing skilled soldiers far stronger than him.

*crack

Suddenly cracking sounds were heard from the top of the room all the people gave an intent look at the glasses upward.

'Help! HELP! GAGAHHHHH!"

The glass cracked from it an assassin hung from a rope on his neck. His hands were tired, he was gasping for air as his face was turning red, ...

Jack came near the broken glass window and in total battle rush screamed.

"For Britanniaaaaaaaaaa!!!" saying this Jack seemingly passed out on the roof.

The British soldiers had a morale boost and now looked more confident than ever.

"You all die here." An assassin said those words while he both of them clutched their swords and ran straight into the group of the Britannian soldiers, for an all-out assault.
