Meeting the Storm Dragon

"This way, adventurer."

Lucas heard a deep masculine voice as he walked deeper into the cave.

'Oh? He's calling me now?' Lucas thought to himself.

He first acted confused, pretending as if he heard something but not very clearly. Then he started moving in opposite direction of the voice.

"This way, adventurer."

Lucas heard the voice again, but this time much louder and clearer.

He looked in the direction of the sound and walked one step there but then acted confused again and continued to walk in the opposite direction.

"No! Not there! Walk in the opposite direction!"

The voice became impatient and said hurriedly in a deep yet slightly high pitched masculine tone.

'He broke character this easily?' Lucas chuckled inwardly as he heard that. He was just trying to test whether the dragon he saw from anime was actually friendly or not.

If he wasn't, then it was a troublesome matter. He would need to think of something else.

But thankfully, the dragon was friendly as seen from this small interaction with him.

Lucas decided to stop testing it and walked towards the source of sound.

The magicules became thicker and thicker and at a certain point, they became dense enough to be grabbed.

After a few minutes of walking, Lucas finally reached the place Veldora was.

In front of him was a large blue crystal. It was around ten meters or three storey tall and also just as wide.

But, Lucas wasn't able to see Veldora in it.

Lucas knew that he was in the right place since the magicules density was so high here that it was giving him a suffocating feeling. But…

There was no dragon present.

Just as he was wondering this, he heard:

"Adventurer, do you wish to become strong?"

Lucas heard a deep masculine voice again.

He sighed hearing that. The dragon was trying very hard to appear like a deity and look cool. He knew that it was doing this only to make him stay here.

But, Lucas obviously wasn't going to follow according to his commands.

He got close to the crystal and said with a sigh, "I know you're in there, Veldora."

Silence.

No further noise was heard when Lucas said that.

Getting no response, Lucas shrugged and said, "fine then. If you're not going to reveal yourself, I am gonna leave."

"No! Wait!" Not wanting Lucas to leave, the Storm Dragon said hurriedly.

Lucas halted and turned back to look at the crystal.

There he saw it…

The Storm Dragon!

Despite how he behaved and how Lucas saw in the anime, the Storm Dragon really looked very domineering and overbearing.

His scales gleamed like black steel, definitely seemed very durable and tough, though they looked more like fish scales than dragon ones.

Apart from his black scales, he had an overall dark blue body with huge black and blue wings.

Veldora walked close towards where Lucas was and looked down at him. He was just as big as the crystal, 10 meters tall.

Lucas knew that it wasn't his true height.

He didn't have a material body but a spiritual one that was made up of magicules. He had been sealed here for 300 years and that resulted in him losing magicules, causing his body to shrink.

But despite that, he was still very powerful for the current Lucas.

Lucas looked at him and said with a smile, "there you are."

Veldora was confused. "How did you know I would be here?"

Lucas looked at him and as if he was an idiot and said, "everybody knows you are here in this cave. It's just that nobody visits you in fear."

"Oh." Veldora said, nodding in understanding.

"It's lonely here, isn't it?" Lucas asked with a smile.

The Storm Dragon nodded his head. It indeed was.

Lucas walked close to the crystal and said, "it's not good to be lonely. You know… I've been lonely as well. I have no one to talk to and so I just adventure. I stumbled here while adventuring and when I heard the voice, I knew that it was definitely you. So I thought of checking up on you."

Lucas's words stupefied the Storm Dragon. A mere human was trying to check up on the mighty True Dragon? The audacity!

But… It's not like he hated that…

Veldora shoved those thoughts aside from his mind and clearing his throat, he asked, "human, are you not afraid of me?"

Lucas shrugged and said, "why would I be?"

Veldora was happy hearing that. Finally! He finally found someone who wasn't scared of him!

"Good. Good. Good." Veldora nodded and said.

He then asked, "So why did you want to check up on me? Is there something you need from me? Do you want to be strong? I can make you stronger if you ask me to!"

Veldora tried his best to keep Lucas engaged in a conversation. He didn't want him to leave or he'd get lonely again.

Lucas shook his head and said, "I don't want to. I was here just to check up on you because I wanted to have a look at how a dragon looked. Now that I've seen it, I am gonna leave. Good bye."

Lucas walked away from the crystal in slow steps.

"Wait! Wait! Don't go!" Veldora said hurriedly.

"Why?" Lucas turned around and asked in a hurried manner, as if there was something important present and he had to rush there.

Veldora looked away and said while touching both his index fingers, "well… you see… as you said earlier, it is indeed very lonely here. I've been trapped for 300 years and nobody is there to talk to me. You're the first person who has ever visited me in this long while."

"Oh." Lucas said. He wasn't surprised by his answer.

Lucas walked close to him and put on a thinking expression. He then said after a few seconds, "I have an idea that'll make you less lonely. Wanna hear it?"

Veldora nodded his head hurriedly. Of course he did! Is that even a question!?

Lucas smirked and said, "then let's be friends. That way, you won't be lonely anymore."

Veldora was stupefied as he heard that. He then said in an overbearing tone,

"What!? A mere human dares to propose friendship to the mighty Storm Dragon!?"
