Cat

After I woke up from the dream I shared with Barbara, I woke up her and Coyle and we had breakfast in the Blue Cow together.

I spent most of my breakfast talking to Blue and she asked me a lot of questions about being a wolf hybrid. Apparently, wolf hybrids are supposed to be rare, but when I asked her why she couldn't remember and only remembered learning about it in school.

Barbara had explained the whole dream situation to Coyle over breakfast, so when we arrived at the house Barbara only had to snap her fingers and an illusion of everything that was in my dream covered the house. We couldn't touch or interact with anything in the rooms, but it did give Coyle a general idea of what I was looking for.

We then spent two hours looking through everything we needed to order online. Coyle showed me a website called Mercury. You could order things from other websites on Mercury and they would then deliver them to our location using magic. It was how most magical people got goods from outside the islands.

Once we finished looking and ordering everything, Coyle then helped me make an account on Mercury and linked it to my new address. We also got my measurements for my school uniform and got it delivered through Mercury.

I was curious how everything was going to arrive and thought back to the crazy driver, but before I relieved that trauma a blue light appeared in front of the house. It only lasted a few seconds, but it was bright enough to make me close my eyes. When I opened my eyes again there were boxes of varying sizes in front of the house.

I didn't have long to be amazed because we had to get everything inside and unpacked. We spent the rest of the day unpacking and decorating, we also managed to set up the Wi-Fi. It didn't take as long as I thought it would take to fully decorate a house and I was satisfied with it in the end. To make it feel like my home, I even hung up some pictures of mom, Kyle and Rose.

Once we were done Coyle let out the loudest sigh I had heard him make. "Well miss Carter, this will be goodbye. I know it's unfortunate that we couldn't help you settle in more, but Barbara and I have a lot of work to catch up on."

After that, he handed me a pamphlet. "This tells you everything you need to know about going to school at Wylde academy and living here as a hybrid. You were lucky at the timing you transformed because it is the middle of the school summer holiday and it's another 3 weeks before the school year starts. I suggest you use that time to adapt and learn about life here."

Once Coyle had said everything he needed to say he looked at Barbara and nodded at her. He waited outside so that Barbara could say her goodbyes.

"Don't worry, this isn't a permanent goodbye. Because I have visited your dreams once it's a lot easier to do it again, so whenever you start to miss me I'll show up in your dreams." Barbara hugged me tightly and handed me a bag. "This is your school uniform. I made sure I choose the cutest option when I picked it and you don't have to worry about it ripping or coming off when you transform."

"Goodbye, Barbara." I said slightly choking up a little. We hadn't spent much time together and I knew very little about her, but we still formed a connection in the time we had spent together and it was sad to see her go.

"Goodbye, m-miss Wolf." She said as she also got a little emotional. Her eyes were a little red and her nose was a little droopy. She made a loud sniffing noise. "Make sure you have a good time at school, so I can ask about it in your dreams."

I stood at the door waving as they walked away.

And that was the last I saw of them for now. They had left my life as quickly as they had entered it, but I decided not to get too upset about it because I knew I could always see Barbara in my dreams. I wanted to make sure I had something interesting to tell her the next time we meet.

After a little bit of time, I decided to relax for a little bit in my new home. I also wanted to try on my uniform, so I got changed and decided to play on the new console I bought. It was an upgraded version of my brother's Z-box at home, the Zbox series Z.

I had just begun to imagine how jealous he would be before I heard a small clang. It was quite hot, so I left the window open, but this had let a cat jump through.

The cat was a calico cat and had a cute little bow tie around his neck. I instantly had the urge to pet it, but I stopped myself before touching it.

'Wait, people around here can turn into animals, so there's a good chance this is a person.'

"Um excuse me are you a person?" I asked a little awkwardly whilst I crouched next to it.

The cat began to shake and I could see it looking around frantically and its tail began to puff up. In a couple of seconds the cat was no longer a cat, but a small boy on all fours. His arms and legs began to wobble and shake because of the awkward position he was in.

When I looked at the boy and his frightened eyes only one thought filled my mind. 'He's cute.'

"Sorry." Was the only thing he said as he jumped back through the window, landing outside a cat again.

I don't know why, but seeing him run away made my heart race in a similar way to when I had previously transformed, but it was different somehow. I could feel my body wanting to chase him, almost like that feeling you get when you're standing next to a button that says 'Don't press' on it.

I also leapt out of the window and landed as a wolf. The uniform I was wearing was now a collar around my neck.

I began to chase after the cat as he ran through my garden. Of course, I wasn't chasing him because it looked fun or anything, that's stupid. I want to know why he was in my house and make sure he doesn't come around uninvited again.

I was faster than the cat, so I managed to close some of the distance he got by starting first, but he was very agile and easily climbed fences and walls. I was still new to being a wolf, so I had to slow down and focus every time I had to climb.

After running for a while the cat decided to climb up the nearest tree and wait me out. I barked at the base of the tree because I knew that the branches had no way of supporting my weight and I was far less skilled a climbing than the cat was.

When I realised the barking was rather pointless, I tried focusing on being a human again. Once I had a mouth to speak with again, I tried to convince the cat to come down. "I'm not going to hurt you or anything. I just want to know why you were in my house?"

The cat also turned back into a human to talk with me. "I say sorry? No need to come down."

I was a little confused about the way the cat talked, but before I could say anything I heard a loud snapping sound. It was the branch the cat was on. Now that he was a human the branch had no way of holding his weight.

I was knocked off my feet as the cat fell on me. He was sitting on top of me and when I looked up at his face it was bright red. I stared at his face because I hadn't gotten a good look when I first saw it. It was a lot cuter than I had first noticed and his timid green eyes made me want to pet him really bad.

Before I got a chance to say anything, he turned back into a cat and ran away. I was still slightly winded from him and the branch falling on me, so I decided to give up on chasing him.
