RIVER VALLEY PACK
LUNA'S POV
I hear faint voices in the background. I try opening my eyes. They flutter open but my eyelids feel like something is weighing down on them. I shift my gaze around the room. I recognize the familiar ceiling of my room.
"She's awake now!"
I hear Scarlett's voice. I gently snap my head to her direction. She is seated with Hazel and Rook.
I still feel a dull aching in my stomach. I try sitting up but immediately wince at the pain which shoots through me. Rook is by my side in an instant.
"Take it easy Luna."
He says. I hiss.
"Why do I feel this way?"
I ask.
"Mia had some sort of power on her."
He answers.
"Black magic?"
I ask. Rook shakes his head.
"Not really. Don't worry your pretty little head. For now you need rest. Mason said that bed rest for you is important."
I groan. I know how strict Rook can be when it comes to stuff like this.
"I'll get something for you to eat."
Hazel announces as she stands up. I hold up a hand.
"No,no. I'm okay Hazel. I just need some rest."
Hazel observes me through narrowed eyes. She nods.
"I guess we better give you some space then."
She says. Scarlett stands up. She hugs me gently before leaving with Hazel leaving Rook and I.
I bite my bottom lip and stare at the ceiling. I really need to know about Malik if at all he doesn't care about what happened to me. The only person I can really ask is Rook even though he isn't a huge fan of Malik.
I hear Rook clear his throat and I turn to him.
"What is troubling you?"
He asks. I take in a deep breath and hold it before letting it go slowly.
"Any news on Malik?"
I ask straightforward. Rook rolls his eyes.
"He wanted to see you but I didn't let him."
"What?! Why would you do that?"
"Truth be told, I don't like your little vampire friend."
"Ugh! You are so unbelievable."
Rook chuckles and rises to his full height. Rook is a huge guy. His chestnut brown hair is scattered around his forehead in messy waves. His strong veiny arms pulsate as he folds his arms. He doesn't have ink on him but he talks about getting it at times.
"I'm heading out now Luna."
He says and leaves. I let out a breathe once the door closes shut.
I close my eyes trying to get some sleep but the lights which are on aren't helping at all. I reach out for the lamp and turn off the lights. Then slowly doze off.
SOMEWHERE IN THE WOODS
REID'S POV
#Crunch! Crunch! Crunch!#
"They are coming!"
Flynn whispers. I hold unto my wooden stake tighter. The footsteps approach. The footsteps are terribly slow for a vampire except they are poisoned of course. I look down from my position up the tree trying to make out any figure under the moonlight.
"X marks the spot."
Flynn says when the footsteps are closer.
"Now!"
I order and we both jump down. This feels all too familiar for me. Drive the stake right into their hearts and watch them die. If not, wolf out, but that isn't necessary for now.
"Aaaaaaargh!"
An ear piercing scream roars through the woods. The vampire drops on the ground and starts convulsing. I don't expect blood or anything. The vampire lets out a small strangled cry before finally dying.
I turn to Flynn who also has a vampire on the ground before him.
"Let's move. These sick head vampires won't kill themselves."
Flynn chuckles.
"Sure thing."
We both move to the direction where the vampires came from. Hopefully, most of them would have consumed the poisoned blood by now.
We try our best to rhyme with the shadows. I halt when some noise catches my attention. I suddenly sniff around, something seems out of the ordinary.
"Retreat...Now!"
I command but it is too late. Something or someone emerges from the darkness in a black cloak. I jump and try luring my wolf out when I feel something cold graze my skin as I am tackled on the ground by many hands.
*F*ck!!...do something, think Reid.*
My mind screams. I try luring my wolf out again but my wrists burn sending the rest of the burn through my body. F*cking silver cuffs.
I bounce struggling to get back on my feet. I lunge on the cloaked figure before me using my fists to connect with any body part available.
Unfortunately, I don't get to f*ck up the cloaked figure long as I feel myself being pulled away from him.
There is a brutal hit on my knee with a steel object. The pain reverberates through me causing me to go limp a little but I don't give up. My struggle is stopped as my head is tilted to the side as a needle digs into my skin.
I groan.
"Great job guys."
The guy in the cloak says as he stands up. I start feeling dizzy. I look into the silver colored eyes of the guy under the cloak. My vision becomes blurry and my surroundings seem to sway around me.
The guy under the cloak takes off the cloak and I catch only a glimpse of silver streaks in his black hair. My heavy eyelids finally close.
MOMENTS LATER
The squeaking of a gate or something catches my attention.
*So I'm still alive?*
I open my eyes but immediately squint at the amount of light which invades my eyes. My head feels like a bunch of cavemen are throwing a party in there.
I groan. I lift my hand to touch my head but pause mid-air when I notice restraints strapped around my wrists. That is when I take time to scan my surroundings.
I'm in some kind of cell. The walls and floor are made of concrete and there is a light bulb which is hanging from the ceiling. The thick bars of the cell stare at me making any chance of escape impossibly impossible. The steel chains which are around my wrists and ankles are connected to the wall. I notice I also have silver bracelets on each of my wrists as well.
All the pieces of the puzzle click in place as my memory sets in.
*I was taken hostage or something?*
I sigh running my hand over my face. My head still f*cking hurts.
*If I'm in here the where the f*ck is Flynn?*
I hear someone clear their throat and I turn to a dark corner of the cell where someone emerges. He has a broad build with straight shoulders. His black hair has streaks of silver and his silver eyes match his hair.
I grunt as I adjust my back which is already leaning on the concrete wall.
"Reid Fury."
The man says his voice surprisingly softer than his features. He stands in front of me with a sly smile.
"Pleasure to meet you."
He says. I scoff.
"I can't say the same."
I throw in. The man just maintains his smile.
"I'm Levi by the way."
I honestly don't have time for this bullsh*t especially with this killer headache I'm nursing.
"What do you want from me?
I ask keeping my voice straight. This f*cker doesn't know who he is messing with. I can already see myself plucking out his silver eyes and burning them to ashes.
"Very blunt."
He mutters. He straightens up and places his hands in the pockets of his black joggers.
"You know... I've heard a sh*t ton of stuff about you. I mean the famous Vampire Hunter..."
I can't stop myself from snorting. Levi's eyes shoot to mine. His left eye twitches slightly before his expression smooths out to blankness.
"Did I say something wrong?"
He asks with a huge grin plastered on his face. I'm starting to understand this one is mental.
"I'm not a vampire hunter."
I say through clenched teeth. I have a cause and I'm not about to explain it to this sh*t head.
"Neither the less you kill vampires and from what I've heard other creatures."
I heave a sigh. This is frustrating. Listening to this dog talk.
"So what? Am I to kill for you?"
His eyes brighten indicating I have hit close to home.
"Not really, I just need you to capture for me."
"Do you think I'm some sort of kidnapper. I kill not kidnap. Besides what makes you think I'll ever do anything for you?"
Levi stoops before me. He tilts his head a bit.
"I have been studying you for a long time now Reid and I must say I have your weakness."
I stare up at him in amusement. Suddenly, I smirk.
"And what is my so called weakness."
"Ever heard of Malice Brooke?"
My smirk turns into a full blown grin. Mentioning my ex-girlfriend won't do it for me. She f*cking left me so I shouldn't feel anything at all for her. She claimed I am a f*cked up man with exactly no f*cking reasoning — Her words not mine— or care. Fun fact is, I can't get over her that easy. She undid me.
"So...how does this or anything have to do with Malice?"
"I'll f*ck her up if you don't comply."
"Be my guest."
I say. Levi scratches the back of his head. His gaze settles on the silver cuffs around my wrists.
"And maybe after f*cking her up, I'll direct the vampires to all packs you have ever tried to protect since you are packless."
That is not a big secret. I have no pack or rather I ran away from my pack. No big deal.
"You sent the anonymous text to us right? You are the one who told is to come to the forest to hunt those vampires right?"
Levi nods.
"Why do you want me to capture whatever?"
"I need them. That is all you must know. So are you ready?"
I stare at him grinding my molars together. The last thing I want now is for this psycho to do something to Malice. She has been through enough as it stands.
"Fine, but we need to get a few things straight."
Levi smiles.
"Go on."
"Firstly get me the f*ck out of this restraints."
I growl angrily. Levi gasps.
"Oh, I forgot."
He pulls out some keys from his pockets and removes the steel chains from around my wrists and ankles. I motion to the silver cuffs.
He takes out a long 5 inch blade. It doesn't look like a normal blade same as the cuffs aren't normal. He slices the cuffs off.
I struggle to my feet. Levi stands up too. I'm taller than he is.
"Where is my partner?"
I ask. Levi tips his head towards the metal bars.
"He is out there. Don't worry, we haven't done anything to him."
I dig my hands into my pockets but I don't find my phone. I whip my head towards him. He immediately understands.
"I'm sorry, your phone is out there we had to make sure."
I pin him with a glare before walking to the metal bars and opening it. I walk out of the cell and Levi follows behind me.
"Give me the details of what I'm to capture."
