She came out here because she caught a glimpse of light permeating from the living room and came out to put it out because everyone was already in bed including the housemaster.

When the image she was seeing disappeared like she had expected it to, she screamed and ran out of the living room. Her screams successfully woke a majority of those who were sound asleep inside the house including Nigel who looked so annoyed that he had been woken by an annoying maid after he had finally managed to find some sleep.
