The profession of the alchemist is said to be the noblest of all in the world of nine continents. There were many reasons for such a claim, the first and foremost being the ability to make pellets for cultivation.
It should be known that even people born with better talents still have to train for years or even centuries to increase their cultivation. But if they have the assistance of pills, they can very well cut this time in half or even more.
Their ability to extract medicinal properties from spiritual herbs makes an alchemist so sought after and respected. An alchemist is also a physician, but the opposite might not always be true.
Fei Chen has been reading the "Continental Medical Annal," "10,000 Herbal Encyclopedia," and "Herbal Combination Formula" again throughout his journey. He was reading them for the second time, and he had already memorized the entire contents of all three books! However, despite that, Fei Chen knew that he should only stop reading them when he had reached the point of forming an opinion regarding the theories behind the contents! He would be able to review the old and gain new knowledge only after forming his own opinions. Only then would he be qualified to be a teacher!
Even though he had all the ingredients and a cauldron to start his first refinement, he wanted to wait until he reached the Hundred Miles City. He recalled the technique that the protagonist Qing Shui used for his pill refinement; it was called the primordial Yin-Yang flame. Just through the use of this technique, he was able to increase his success rate by thirty percent in all of his pill concoctions.
It is common knowledge among cultivators that as an alchemist starts refining pills of higher grades, the success rate takes a sharp decline, sometimes going as low as one percent. That is why having an alchemical technique such as the primordial Yin-Yang flame was no less than heaven-defying.
.....Scene Break.....
After two months of traveling, Fei Chen has finally reached Cang Lan country. The city walls of Cang Lang Country were more than five meters high, with a wide black city gate opened, and passing through was an incessant stream of traffic.
Riding on the back of the Golden Eagle Fei Chen surveyed the city. Looking at the people entering and leaving the city gates, Fei Chen was astonished, even though he knew about the population in each country, which was said to be in the billions. It was an advantage that the land across the world's nine continents was truly vast.
Fei Chen, with his powerful spiritual sense, was able to discern a few Xiantian cultivators among the common populace. Their number was quite low, and it was finally dawning on him that he was in the weakest country on the weakest continent. Now the only thing left was to head to Qing village in Hundred Miles City, and he would officially be in the beginner village.
" Elder Bai, where are we heading now?"
" The Skysword sect, the current strongest power in Cang Lan country."
Bai Gui answered with a slight smile; he had planted a spy in the Skysword sect many years prior, on his first visit to Cang Lan country to expand his information network.
Some may argue that planting a spy in a backwater country like Cang Lan country was a bad idea because one would rarely if ever, receive significant news, but powers in the Central region continue to plant spies in various low- and middle-level institutions in order to recruit disciples with extraordinary constitutions. At the start of their cultivation journey, the signs of an extraordinary constitution are usually either a very slow or very fast cultivation speed.
These spies were given all kinds of ancient knowledge so they could discern such individuals, and even though the chances of coming across such people were one in a million, with such a large population, it was still reasonable.
After a few hours of flying, they arrived at the Skysword sect. Fei Chen gazed at Skysword Mountain, which stretched for a thousand li in the Cang Lang Country. The mountain range was inclined as if a giant sword was pointing toward the sky. This was the reason for its name, Skysword Mountain.
The biggest sect of Cang Long Country, the Skysword Sect, was at the zenith of the Skysword Mountain – the Skysword Peak!
Looking at the nearing Skysword Peak, he felt it was way less grand than his great-grandfather's mountain peak, which provided the whole view of the Heavenly Palace.
Landing on the highest peak, they were greeted by a few disciples guarding the platform. Fei Chen quickly probed his spiritual sense and discovered they were all in the late stage of the martial commander realm, with the exception of one who was a peak Houtian.
All of them had fearful looks on their faces and felt enormous pressure from the Golden Eagle. Alighting from the beast, Bai Gui looked at one of the disciples who was wearing a scarlet Skysword uniform, showing his status as a Guardian. The man felt suffocated under Bai Gui's sharp gaze.
" You, take me to see your sect leader."
"Y-yes elder, please follow this little one."
The man's back was drenched in a cold sweat, feeling Bai Gui's predatory gaze. With his decades of experience as an assassin, Bai Gui's spiritual sense had mutated to become very incisive making people feel very uncomfortable or afraid under his gaze when he wanted them to.
Fei Chen and Bai Gui followed after the guardian. They saw many disciples in yellow, green, blue, scarlet, and purple garments all walking about. The strength of each person in the Skysword Sect was represented by the color of their clothes, dividing their strength and status. With a quick look, they could see that the yellow garment was the lowest. Scarlet was for Guardians, and purple was for Protectors. Those above the Elder rank could wear whatever they wanted.
This place was created by shaving off the tops of the surrounding mountains. With the rubble, they formed pieces of flat land that were connected.
Fei Chen could feel the spiritual qi was at least three to five times lower than his home back in the Heavenly Palace.
The three, headed for the main hall of the Skysword sect where the patriarch and elders resided.
