That morning, the Moon estate was in chaos as talks began to fly about the two most unlikely figures jogging around the estate together.
Earlier that morning, he came into my room this morning and started saying nonsense. "Father, you have to fire him," Hana screamed immediately as she barged into her father's office. Daehuyn bowed outside before entering and bowing again to the chairman.
The chairman looked between the two of them and dropped the book in his hand. He looked tired for a man who got up as early as 5 am every morning. The chairman cleared his throat and asked what the problem was. Hana began to sow a blanket of lies as she told her father her version of the story,
"And is this true, Daehuyn?" The chairman asked.
"Almost none of it is true; I signed a contract not to approach your daughter, and besides, I'm wearing the watch you gave me," Daehuyn said, and the chairman immediately looked up.
Daehuyn had his fair share of practicing technically jobs back at Chamsari; he'd fix their clocks, lights, and other niknaks around the sect, especially their master's precious vintage leather watch, so after the chairman gave him the watch, late into the night as he prepared for Hana, he also tinkered with the watch and found not only a camera but an audio and Bluetooth device that monitored his every move. Thankfully, he wasn't wearing it while talking about Hana with Yeonseul and Soyoung.
The chairman smiled at Daehuyn, then cleared his throat before looking back to his daughter, "I'm sure you got it all wrong, sweety." Hana was shocked by her father's reply.
Never in her life was she ever turned down by her father and now because of this strange man here, her father was going to take his words over hers. This was not happening.
"Father? What is going on?" Hana asked, calming down.
The chairman sighed before he continued, "Sit down my dear." She wanted to fight back but decided against it. She would do so if she didn't like what she heard.
"Given all the trouble you've made in the past and just recently with Daehuyn, I've decided that you need a change of habit, and by habit, I mean getting unnecessarily angry."
"But I don't-" Hana stood up and snapped at her father.
"My point exactly." She stood there quietly before sitting down.
The chairman explained, "Daehuyn here has lived with monks all his life and has gone under countless training and tests of patience, so in my eye, there is no one better than him to help you change for the better."
Hana shot up again before the chairman would finish. "I know it's going to be difficult at first, but I want you to take things slow and take things one step at a time and also listen to him."
"I'm sorry, father, but that is never going to happen. I might not be the best daughter, but this family made me this way and I will not be taking orders from this mountain man to change." Hana said as she tried to leave.
Hana's hand hung at the door. "If you leave that door, you'll end up like your brother, dead to me." Her brother, Daehuyn, had heard of him before. His name was Taehyun, right?
"I've already given Daehuyn here every right over you, and I promised not to get involved."
"Then cancel that deal! I'm not going to be bossed around in my own house!" Hana raised her voice; things were already getting heated,
"That is not possible, I put my seal on it, the contract is not bounded." Hana's father began raising his voice then slowly backed down. Now both Hana and her father were quiet, letting the rising tension settle in the room.
"You are going to listen or I'm taking away your car and cutting you off, and that's final," the chairman said, picking up his book again. "Daehuyn, please escort my daughter out and let me know if she refuses to cooperate," the chairman said, picking up his book again.
Without a word, Daehuyn bowed and escorted the Chairman's daughter, who was also dumbfounded, out of the room. Daehuyn escorted her back to her room without a word, and once they were there, he only gave her an instruction and left. A few minutes later, she got dressed and they were off.
6:00 a.m.
The field was unusually noisy this morning since everyone either behind or in front of them kept looking at them, whispering different rumors and uncertainties, most of which were scared off by Hana's piercing glare at everyone who dared to come any closer.
Just fifteen minutes in and Hana was already breathing as if she had run cross country. Daehuyn, who was slightly ahead of her, had to come back to check on the young lady. She sat on the paved ground with her breathing strained as Daehyun stood over her.
"I can't-I can't do this anymore." Hana managed to puff out with Daehuyn still over her with his arms folded.
"Fine, let's go."
"It's been a long time since my last workout, but wait, what?" Hana asked fluttering, finally realizing what Daehuyn had just said, "we can?"
"I'm surprised you lasted this long, so yeah, we can do other things with the time we have." Daehuyn smiled at Hana, who had no idea of Daehuyn's intentions that morning.
"You can't do this to me," Hana screamed in the gym hall with Daehuyn pushing down her back between her legs on the floor.
"Yes, I can," Daehuyn answered, ignoring Hana's cries.
"I'll make you pay. Just wait until I tell my father what you did to me just after we left his office."
"Be my guest." Hana scoffed at Daehuyn but said nothing else.
"I can't believe you call yourself a dancer and you're this stiff," Daehuyn said as he continued to help Hana stretch.
"Shhh… what if someone hears you?" Hana hushed.
"I'm pretty sure everyone already knows, but why do you dance anyway?"
"It's none of your business, now let me go!" Hana pushed back with all her might, making Daehuyn pull back before something happened to her.
Han glared at Daehuyn as she began to get up, but not without the help of the equipment around her. Hana transferred her body weight onto whatever she could get her hands on to relieve stress and inadvertently put her weight on the rack that held the small dumbbells, resulting in a scream and the dumbbells crashing around her. Thankfully, Daehuyn was nearby and shielded her from harm.
Hana opened her eyes slowly to look up when she noticed she was safe. She noticed Daehuyn's arms wrapped around her securely keeping her safe. That and she noticed how close he was to her. Hana cleared her throat and tried standing up straight. Daehuyn noticed too and let her go. As Hana gradually looked up to find a straight face on Daehuyn, as if nothing had affected him, but before she could say anything, Soyoung ran over to her.
"Miss! Are you hurt? What are you doing here? How many fingers am I holding?" Soyoung asked, dragging Hana out of Daehuyn's arms.
Hana noticed the crowd that gathered around her and felt embarrassed, especially when Soyoung asked her what she was doing there. She didn't want it to look like she was taking orders, so she composed herself before answering.
"I'm fine Annie, I just thought I needed to work out a bit, so I asked Daehuyn to escort me. He'll be escorting me from now on." Hana said with a straight face while the rest looked confused since everyone thought the young miss hated Daehuyn.
Soyoung soon caught on to what was going on and let out a small chuckle, "Young miss, if you need to work out or if you need someone to work out with, you can always come to me you know that, right?" Hana stared into Soyoung's eyes, knowing she was caught and nodded slowly.
Soyoung looked at Daehuyn, who bowed at her. She nodded back at him before he walked away, but not before she whispered something into Hana's ear. Soyoung felt Hana tense up in her arms. She smiled before letting her go. She was worried about the two of them, especially Daehuyn, and hoped he knew what tree he was barking at.
"Unnie, I need to leave now. I have a very early lecture today," Hana said with a small smile before leaving. She bowed before stepping aside for the young woman.
Hana stormed out of the gym only to meet Daehuyn leaning against the wall with his eyes closed. As much as she was fuming with anger, she couldn't help but stare at his perfect face, and long-lashed pale skin. She wanted to touch them, but before she could move closer, Daehuyn opened his eyes.
Hana stepped back, afraid she was caught before she answered. "I'll come to get you at 7:30," Daehuyn said with his hair slightly covering his eyes. Hana stepped back, afraid she was caught before she answered.
"I- I always have breakfast by 8, you can't tell me when to eat and I leave by 10," Hana said folding her arms, Daehuyn pushed himself off the wall and stood in front of the young miss arms crossed.
"Oh, but I can, and this is just the beginning." Daehuyn smiled down at her small figure.
