: Chapter 26

I open my eyes to find myself standing on the staircase of Adonis' mansion. A kid who had the same hair and eyes as mine runs down the staircase and I see a boy following her. They looked so happy and they ran up and down giggling. 'Ady,' she says as she giggles. The boy who she called Ady catches her and they go flying down the staircase. They didn't seem scared that they would probably hurt themselves. They go landing on the floor but if you look closely they were not exactly on the floor but they were floating in the air.

'Arcane, Adonis, how many times have I told you not to run around the hallways? You might hurt yourself,' a woman says.

I turn around to find a woman. She looked like a goddess. Her long black silky hair fell in ringlets around her waist. 'So the kid is Adonis and the other is…me'.

Adonis giggles and seemed kind of cute, 'That's why you are there mommy, you won't let us get hurt,' he says.

The woman chuckles and sighs, 'But I won't be here for long my angels, you will have to learn to take care of yourselves. She waves her hand and places them on the couch, 'Now sit and I'll read you a story. It's bedtime.'

'Yay!' the two shout.

The woman reads them a story and the two slowly fall asleep. 'One day, you both will rule the kingdom side by side,' she murmurs.

The vision vanishes replaced by another.

I was now in my early teens and Adonis was in his mids. 'Arcane!' he shouts.

'Adonis!' I shout back.

They run and embrace each other. I felt uncomfortable seeing how close I was to him in my past. And I forgot about him. 'I've missed you,' Arcane says.

'Same, you look different, your hair has grown longer and your skin is so soft,' he tells her.

'Mother made sure I was bathed in fresh milk or rose water every day,' she says sarcastically rolling her eyes.

Adonis chuckle and cups her face in his palms, 'She wants the best for you, for me, for us,' he says.

'I know,' she whispers, 'Come, mom has been waiting for you all morning. She is running out of patience.

Adonis chuckles again and takes her hand in his, 'Then stop talking and start moving,' they walk to the front door and enter the mansion.

The vision is replaced again by another. I was in my mid-teens and Adonis was about 19. We were walking in what seemed to be a garden. Lovely flowers about us as the stars sparkled above us. It was a full moon. Adonis stops and looks down as though trying to think about his next strategy. 'Arcane,' he whispers. He takes her hand and pulls her into an embrace. 'I turned one hundred and eighteen today and..' he says.

Arcane was puzzled as I was. 'And what?' she asks him hugging him back.

'This looks weird,' I think to myself.

'And mom wants me to find a Queen,' he replies.

Arcane smiles but I could see it was a pained smile, 'Have you found her?' she asks.

'Yes'

'Who is she?'

'You are that eager to know?'

'It's okay if you don't want to tell me who it is,' she pauses, 'Have you proposed?'.

Adonis shakes his head, 'I'm about to'. He kneels and takes out a Diamond ring that shone in the moonlight. 'Arcane, will you be my Queen and accept me as your King?" he asks.

Arcane was shocked and tears began to flow down her cheeks. 'Adonis..I,' she whispers. The next thing they are on the ground as they roll embracing each other.

'Is that supposed to be a yes?' he asks.

'Of course dummy,' she replies, 'For a moment I thought it was someone else'.

'How could it be someone else, when I have loved only one girl my entire life,' he chuckles.

'Oh shut up,' she elbows him and he grins. 'So..,' Arcane says, 'Is this supposed to be the time when we...kiss?' she asks.

Adonis chuckles and holds her by the waist as she puts her arms around his neck. They kiss.

'This is the weirdest moment of my life,' i think, 'This is the worst thing I have ever seen in my life, even Tom and Jerry is better'.

The memory is again replaced by another.

Arcane wore a beautiful gown, it was black and featured a low open back, trimmed in lace, with a ruffle, and tapered to a mermaid train down past her feet. Her hair was curled as it fell over her shoulders. Adonis took her hand and led her up a stage. The spotlight was on them. 'Good Evening Ladies and Gentlemen, boys and girls. Today is the day I and my Queen,' he pauses taking a glance at Arcane who was being her nervous self like me, 'Are celebrating our second anniversary and I want to...'.

He is cut off by a voice, 'Wait!' it says and I see...Blake!.

'What is he doing here?' I murmur.

'She...she's my mate,' he says.

Arcane looks at him with confusion written all over her face. 'Mate? I'm a vamp, not a wolf,' she says.

'I don't know why but you're my mate,' Blake tells her.

'Mom?' Arcane asks, 'Who is this? Tell him I'm not a wolf'.

'My dear, I have hidden this for a long time and I think it high time you know,' the woman says, 'You are...half werewolf half vampire my dear. I found you in the forest, abandoned, cold, and hungry and I took you in, I removed your memory and replaced it with others. I didn't mean to but it was the only way, you had had a bad childhood'.

'Half, werewolf and a half...vampire,' I think, 'Meaning I'm..'.

Arcane looked sad but all of a sudden her expression changed. She looked furious, 'So all my life I have been lied to? All my life you made me believe that I was one of you, I was bullied and called a freak because of my eyes and hair and yet you didn't want to explain things to me, to them, to us, to tell us why I'm like this...Why?' she yells. Angry tears rolled down her cheeks. Her eyes started glowing, one blue one red and so did the strips of red and blue in her hair. 'Won't you answer my question!?' her voice stutters as she starts floating in the air.

'Arcane! Calm down,' Adonis shouts, 'We can explain!'.

She looks at him surprised, 'So you knew..,' she whispers, 'So you knew the truth Adonis and yet you didn't tell me, you vowed not to lie to me, and yet you hid a truth, my truth,' she shouts looking at him n disgust, 'And yet I yell in love with you'.

I felt the words crack Adonis' heart as he just stood there. 'I..I'm going with my mate,' she says, 'I need him and he needs me, we are destined to be'.

'Arca..,' Adonis whispers.

'Don't,' she raises her hand telling him not to talk or move, 'Don't tell me you love me and you can't live without me cause from today you have to start living that way. You will find another Queen, who's not me,' she says as she takes Blake by the arm.

I see Adonis snatch her by the waist.

'Damn he's fast,' I think.

She was now pinned by the wall. 'You are not leaving me for a mutt Arcane,' he says his eyes start glowing bright red.

'Watch me,' she whispers as she shoves him but he didn't budge. 'You...you don't s..scare me, Adonis, I've lived w..with you my whole l..life. I know you won't injure me,' she stutters.

I see a grin appear on his lips as he leans closer to her, 'Are you sure about that dear...Fiancé,' he whispers.

I could see Arcane shivering underneath his body. He raises his hand and grabs her by the neck. She screams out painfully trying to free herself but she couldn't. Blake looked furious. He rushed over and kicked Adonis where it hurts.

'Ouch!' I whisper.

Adonis lands on the floor rolling as he whined in pain. 'Sorry man, but this was my mate you were hurting,' Blake apologizes. Arcane's neck now had a brown spot on it.

'So that's how I have the birthmark on my neck. He made it,' I think.

'Can you walk?' Blake asks.

She nods and whisper, 'Hurry let's go'.

She gathers all her strength and begins to run. She took one last glance at Adonis' mother as tears fell. They looked at each other for a while then Adonis' mother nodded and smiles a bit but I could see she was hurt, broken to pieces. They run out and Adonis stands up to chase them but he's stopped by his mother.

'Don't follow her dear, let her go,' she says.

Adonis was too hurt and furious to listen to anyone. He tries overpowering her but I guess he was too belligerent and harmed her. She spits a mouthful of blood and collapses. 'Mom!' he shouts and everything goes blank.

The vision vanishes and I'm brought to reality.

"I...I'm a vampire?" I murmur trying to process everything that has happened.

"You were my lover until..," "That dog came," he finishes the sentence.

"That dog is my mate," I snap.

He scoffs and says, "You left me for him".

"He was my mate Adonis!" I yell.

"I was your lover!" he yells back.

"You will never understand because you are not a werewolf," I say.

"I do, I was one too. My mother was Blake's mother's sister, he was my damn cousin Arcane!".

'Now that's something,' Minsi says.

"You and Blake are...related," I say.

He nodes and adds, "Unfortunately. My mom married my dad and had me, I was a hybrid like you till I was eighteen. I had to choose between being a werewolf or a vampire and I chose vampire. Even though my vampire genes had overpowered my werewolf gene some were still there. I couldn't shift yes but I still had to have a mate. When I turned one hundred and eighteen I sensed my mate and it was you but you couldn't," he explains.

"I..Adonis," I whisper.

"Shhh, he's coming,' he pauses, "On your eighteenth birthday, I'm coming back to claim you. And when I do, tell that dog to not interfere otherwise I'll kill each person you and he adores in your faces. And don't do anything stupid. Even if he marks you it won't work. I will get my love back," he tells me as he snaps his fingers and I'm back on my bed.

I hear the door open and I see Blake entering.
