Chapter 14: Does he love me?

Selena's POV

Home sweet home

"Lexi, I've received a lot contracts… I can't believe I became popular over night. If I was told yesterday, I wouldn't even believe it." I said as my hand waltzed on the keyboard. It was literally waltzing.

"So… Which one did you chose?" She crashed on the chair placing a cushion on her thighs looking at my laptop.

" ALk. I guess Miss Tonia new I was Summer." I said looking at her.

"ALK knows anything they want to know. Are you considering them? The competition is quite stuffy" She said placing her hand on her neck as if she was choking her self.

"Stuffy?"

"Yeah stuffy. Should I talk to David?" She said as she opened her phone scrolling through the messages , then she exclaimed "Shit!"

"What?" I asked

"I can't stay to celebrate any longer. I have to go before my dad fires me." She said as she gave me a side hug and kissed my cheek.

I smiled at her.

"Why's your face so hot?" She asked and hugged me. "Your body too!!!" She exclaimed cupping my face with her hands, her eyes filled with worry.

"I already had symptoms of fever before the accident. I might feel lightheaded once in a while but, I'll be fine. I'm okay. As long as my throat doesn't start aching also. I'll be alright in a day or two." I smiled at her.

"We need to get you to the hospital!"

"Go get dressed or you'll be late"

"A check up?"

"I'll go for a check up on Sunday. Relax Lexy"

"Are you sure?" She took my hand.

"I'm really okay. Go now, or your dad will fire you and I'll kick you out." I threatened

" You can't. I've paid my half of the rent complete. Call me if anything happens."

She ran to the room and in less than twenty minutes she was out all dressed and with her make up on.

"A new world record" I hyped her and we laughed.

"Remember to call!!!"

"If I don't call you, who else would I call?"

"Exactly! See you!!!!" She waved at me as she walked to the door

"Bye- bye!"

"Don't eat cold food" She yelled and closed the door.

Ding!

A text message.

Lexy: I ordered JFB chicken wings! It'll home in like ten minutes.

Me: Thank you. <3

Lexy: You are welcome ^_^

Why am I so hot? I better take a shower and maybe a cup of ice cream.

I lazily lifted myself up and once I tried to take the first step, I felt dizzy.

What's wrong with me?

I collapsed back on the chair, trying to steady my breathing pace. I picked up my phone. Just Incase I'm in the shower when the delivery man arrives. I put my phone in my hoodie pocket then supported my head with my palm.

Why did you have to act up fever, when Lexi just left?

I suddenly felt a sharp pain in my abdomen and the side of my head. I held my stomach because that was much worse It was branching to every part of my body in split seconds and the pain grew excruciatingly.

What's wrong with me.

"Urghhhhh" I groaned

I slid from the chair to the floor and my breathing became louder and heavy. My head felt like something was hammering it. Every part of my body so painful that I couldn't let out any sound anymore. I tried curling up my body but I suddenly felt numb.i Couldn't even lift my hand and my broken arm felt heavier. My heart raced faster, it was beating like it wanted to burst away from my body and with each second I slowly felt my consciousness seep away. .

What's wrong with me? I have a broken arm and little fever, not some kind of virus right?

Knock! Knock!! Knock!!!

The person didn't stop knocking. The sound made my headache worse. It wasn't like someone was hitting it with a hammer anymore, it felt like I was it had already reached it's limit and is about to explode. I forcefully turned my head to look at my phone.

As if connected telepathically with the phone, it started ringing. But it wasn't the person I had in mind. It was an unknown number even.

My body slowly betrayed me all I could

My eyes became teary and my vision became blurry… I closed my eyes surrendering to the pain

"Beep. Beep. Beep. Beep. Beep. Beep."

That was the first thing I heard as I gradually regained consciousness. My mouth twitched and I moved my lips in and out before slowly opening them. I was really thirsty.

"water…"  I said but my voice came out low. I could even barely hear myself.

I slowly opened  my eyelids but my vision was blur. I looked at an object, it looked like it was coming towards me. Alarmed, I blinked multiple times and as fast as I could, as seconds  past, I finally saw it clearly. It was the fan.

I tried moving my head but my neck hurt a bit. I glued my lips together trying to form saliva but it was hopeless. My mouth was like a desert. Being in a desert might even be better, I could still dig some parts to find water.

"Water" I tried to sound louder but instead my chest started aching. I felt suffocated. I let out a light cough but, I didn't have much strength so I became tired. I closed my eyes trying to control my breathing, I prayed silently for someone to walk in.

Wait a minute… where am I? I opened my eyes once again looking at the ceiling. This doesn't feel like a hospital?

"Selena!" a familiar voice said and before I could make out who it was, a face suddenly appeared in front of me.

David? What's he doing here?

He helped me sit up by raising the bed up and then placed a cup of water under my lips.

"The nurse said you'll need this once you wake up." He said and I slowly opened my mouth as he poured it in. My eyes didn't move from his face one second. Once I had my fill, he dapped my lips with a napkin then pressed a bell.

"Is this a hospital?" I asked softly

"Yes, just a special room I arranged so you'll get well soon." He said.

"Oh! Thank you" I said scanning the room. It was really spacious and more colorful.

But… I don't still like the hospital!

"Are you hungry?" He asked.

Why is he this nice to me?

"What am I doing here? Why does my head hurt?" I asked.

"You had a minor brain surgery. How are you feeling now apart from your head hurting" He asked and tapped a button again. His face filled with worry and anxiousness.

"I underwent a brain surgery. Today."

"Mr. Alokwe, she's awake."

"Yes." David stepped away from my bed and the doctor came to my side.

He asked me a couple of questions, checked my heartbeat, my blood sample was collected and he scribbled some words on his notepad.

"Miss Jones, you are sure you don't feel any discomfort apart from your head pain."

"Yes" I said dryly.

"You are recovering really faster than normal. Your surgery ended an hour ago and you are already awake?"

"Is it a bad thing?" David asked.

"No, no. it's a miracles. She'd have another scan two days time."

"The bills would be settled by my secretary."

"Of course sir." The doctor spoke too politely with David

"What can she eat?"

" She shouldn't eat much for now. Something bland."

"You feeding me is more than taking responsibility. Do you want something else?" I asked. You are confusing me Mr. Pulchritudinous.

"Don't think too much. Can you feed yourself now? No." He asked.

"How much is the bill?" I asked

"I've paid for everything. Just recover quickly. Stop thinking about stuffs you aren't supposed to be bothered with"

"I want us to split the bill. It's not entirely your fault. You already covered the last bill. I'm sorry if Lexy made it seem it was all your fault. I think you should know that. Thank you for coming to stay with me in the hospital but, you must be a very busy man, President Alokwe." I said.

"You know who I am… Then you should know there's no need to split the bill" He said.

"I just feel it's necessary or I'll feel Indebted." I said

"No. I'll feel Indebted, Summer. So many agencies are scouting you without the idea that you have a broken arm and it's my fault. I have to do this. Now, you just underwent a brain surgery. "

"You don't have to put it that way" I said

"Miss Tonia must have told you about the event at the Princess paradise hotel."

"Why are you bringing this up? I can't go anywhere now." I said in a sad tone

"Do you want to watch the event live?"

"How?" I asked

"Just a yes or a no. I can make it happen"

"Lena!!!!" Lexy shouted as she busted the door wide open. She walked to my side and lifted my hand connected to the drip.

"Ouch!" I exclaimed.

"You deserve it." She gave me a short fake smile.

I stuck my tongue out at her and she laughed.

"I'll be leaving in now. I'll order food on the way" David said picking up his tuxedo jacket and walked to the door. He turned to Lexi and asked " Want anything too?"

"I'm fine. Thanks" She smiled and he nodded then walked to the door.

"A yes or a no Selena?"

"Of course I'd want to watch it."

He walked out the door after that.

"You really got yourself a big catch." Lexi smiled still looking at the door.

"Why did you leave me in the hospital with him?" I asked.

"What do you mean?"

"He's quite busy and you made him babysit me." I said

"I didn't know you were at the hospital till like an hour ago then I had to ditch my date Lena… My super cute date and drive down here. I think he realized he forgot to call me. I tried calling you but it kept on taking me to voicemail. I called JFB and they said the package was received so I wasn't worried. I thought you were asleep." She said.

"I didn't receive any chicken Lexi" I said

"But—"

"So you are telling me David brought me to the hospital." I stared at her shocked.
