Meanwhile, in another part of the battlefield, Maria crossed by daggers with two orcs at once. She nimbly weaved through their attacks like a graceful warrior, while her quick attacks left shallow cuts all over their huge bodies. Ten minutes in to the fight, their bodies were filled with hundreds of small cuts that bled profusely.
She dodged a hasty downward slash from one of the orc and stabbed her dagger into the orc's back, right where his heart was supposed to be. A geyser of blood flew off out the wound as Freya followed the initial attacks with some more stabs in the same location.
The orc fighter screamed in agony as his heart was pierced multiple time and fell to the floor a moment later, dead as a door nail. The remaining orc lunged at the assassin trying to grab a hold of her, but the wounds he had sustained slowed him down, allowing Maria to easily dodge the attempt.
Maria retaliated by throwing her dagger at the base of his neck and it went deep into his neck, just above the collarbone. Another geyser of blood flew through the air, and the assassin jumped onto the orc's back. She grabbed the dagger from behind and drag it across his neck and cutting it wide open, ending his life.
Maria stood up after recovering her dagger and cleaning it on the orc's cloths. She ran towards her target that was busy killing the human soldiers while trying to avoid the attacks of the eagle-eyed archer in the distance.
Roya, the beast tamer, was commanding her wolves to hunt down and massacre the human soldiers on the field, while keeping a watchful eye on the attacks from the man she had untold hatred for. While she had control over her pets, it was not absolute as more often than not, a wolf would over extend in to his attack and an arrow will fly into it, wounding the beast.
That cursed man had not even missed a single chance, and almost half of her wolves had suffered wounds that reduced their fighting ability. Yet she was still somewhat satisfied as she massacred human fighters, right in front of his eyes.
Suddenly, she heard a painful howl and quickly turned around to see one of her wolves, laying on the ground. His back was filled with bloody wounds and a figure completely covered in black standing over him as the life faded from his eyes.
Roya screamed in anger and, with a whistle, ordered all the remaining wolves to attack the newcomer. The wolves listened to their master, and five wolves left their previous prey to focus on the assassin.
Maria ran towards the approaching beasts while wielding her twin daggers. She slid under a jumping attack and slid open the wolf's belly, spilling out its gut. The next beast tried to bite off her head, but the assassin easily dodge it and embedded her dagger into the base of its skull.
Although the wolves were fast and agile, Maria was even faster. They also possessed a semblance of teamwork, but the assassin easily saw through it. Roya watched as her wolves tried and failed to catch the elusive assassin, the occasional arrow that hit her wolves didn't help either.
While Alex was a beast hunter, he was more of a team player unlike Maria, who as an assassin was used to fighting alone. Add to that the wolves were already wounded and exhausted, she had an easier time dealing with them. She expertly reduced the numbers of the wolves until her dagger flew and stabbed between the eyes of the last wolf.
Roya desperately looked around, trying to find another wolf, but the only one remaining was the one she was riding. She quickly turned around the beast, tried to escape the human, but Maria was one step ahead of her as another dagger flew and pierced through her back and stabbed into her spine.
The orc female fell from her steed like a lifeless doll and her eyes moving desperately as she lost any feeling below her waist. She didn't struggle long, as Maria quickly ended her life. The assassin didn't stop to celebrate her victory and continued towards other orcs on the field, making sure to tip the battle in their favor.
Meanwhile, a little distance away, Morris was fighting a losing battle. The Orc leader swung his twin axes in ferocious manner, yet each of his swing was calculated. Whenever Morris saw an opening, his instincts shouted it was trap. The young orc had a cruel smile on his face as he delivered mighty blows against the large shield that Morris used to protect himself.
Just then, the orc swiftly moved to the right with his beast, avoiding a powerful slash that came from behind him. Freya quickly came to Morris' side, wielding a dark gray sword in her hand. The beast growled at the humans as its master weaved a hand through its thick mane to calm it down.
"Guiding Light of Orion!" Morris was covered by a faint golden light and the bruise on his body vanished, along with his exhaustion.
"Thank Orion, you guys are finally here." Morris let out a sigh of relief. "That guy is monstrously strong. I'm not sure if I could have held him for long."
"As we planned." Freya said, and the two rushed at the nine feet tall giant. Jeera only smiled as his steed crossed the distance in a single jump and snapped it maw at Morris, which he stopped with his shield.
Freya had to block the axe attack of Jeera with her sword. As the axe fell on her sword, Freya's eyes widened at the weight behind the attack and was forced to move out from under it or be crushed. The Swordswoman pushed the axe to the side and threw a pair of ice daggers at the steed that stuck into its thick hide, eliciting a painful whimper out of the direwolf.
However, the duo quickly retreated to avoid a wide swing from the orc. They stuck close to each other, not taking a single eye off the orc leader. Freya activated her second trait once more, and this time it succeeded.
[Jeera
Species: Orc
Age: 32
Level: 49
Job: Fiery Axe Warrior
Highest Stat: Strength 80]
Freya now realized the reason why even Morris could not take the orc's blows for long. His strength stat was higher than even the captain by a good margin. She also realized his fighting style implemented a fire technique due to his job title.
"Any time now, Ariane." Morris shouted at his teammate, who was busy casting a spell.
"Just a few more seconds. Keep him busy." The mage shouted back as she continued her spell casting.
Jeera saw the mage preparing a spell and galloped his steed towards her, but Morris and Freya blocked his path and stopped his charge.
"Blessing of Orion!" The spell was finally completely a few seconds later and a golden light surrounded the two warriors and they both felt a new surge of power course through their.
[All stats are increased by 20% for 10 minutes.]
A system message appeared before Freya's eyes as the system quantified the effects of the spells. Freya gawked at the effect as even for a top tier third circle spell, a 20% increase in all stats was just preposterous. Freya's beliefs were reaffirmed as she had one more reason as to why this type of magic was so coveted.
"Raaagh!!" Morris roared as he pushed the orc off his shield. His strength finally meeting that of the monster. "Now, the true battle begins."
