Mastering the second step of energy manipulation
The routine of training and learning the black smithy continued and Ash has reached advance level in just 2 weeks time. He decided that he should concentrate on completing the second step of energy manipulation and obtain the complete control of the energy. His stats have also increased a lot during these 2 weeks. As for the levels he can't do anything now because there is still 6 months of time before his birthday comes again. He could get experience using the hidden quests but there is no guarantee that they might appear again as they were rare.

This world has 400 days in a year. Most of the months have 33 days except 3rd, 6th,9th and 12th month where there are 34 days.
Presently it is 8th June and Ash's birth day was on 9th December. After completing his physical training he decided that he would definitely master the second step because it has been nearly 3 weeks and the progress is too bad.
He started concentrating on the star in his body and decided to bring out a small flame. As soon as he started taking the energy from the star the star glowed too brightly and the flame became too big in his hand and Ash had to stop taking power to stop the flames in his hand. When he tried again a flame came but only like a candle in his hand.
Ash could not understand where is going wrong while trying to control the flame and the star. It has been bothering him since three weeks. He decided to ask the system because he needs to progress past this because third step will make him a powerhouse among the mages.
"System why is it that it is always giving too much energy or too less energy as I am unable to progress past this?" asked Ash.
The system replied "Host there is nothing wrong with the way you are trying to achieve the control but your magic power is only 90 so the control over magic will be too tough for you to achieve".
Ash started tearing his head due to what system told. "So what can I do to increase the magic power because second step is delayed for too long and I need to master it at any cost" shouted Ash.
"There is a way to increase your magic power to 200 host but it will take a week to achieve it. After achieving it you will be able to easily obtain magic control" said the system.
"I'll do it system as I still have six months. One week is not an issue" said Ash.
"Very well then host. You need to light the 5 ends of the star along with the center of the star. Each edge of the star when lit will increase your magic power by 12 and the central part increases it by 50" said the system.
"Gather the energy and try to lit every edge of the star like you did while forming the star" siad the system.
Ash did as the system said and started concentrating on gathering energy and concentrated the energy on the bottom right of the star. It took a lot of effort on Ash's part from fainting because energy collected to light these parts had drained him a lot. After nearly 2 hours he was able to lit it but there is only a dim glow. He decided to stop now because he collapsed due to dizziness.
After 1 hour he woke up and felt a bit of rise in energy. He went back home for the day and did not go to the store. He went to bed and did not wake up until evening. Jasmine was worried due to her son's situation. So she came and started taking care of him.
"Don't push yourself too hard Ash. You nearly frightened me to death today" said Jasmine. Ash could not say anything and kept quiet.
"I know that you want to awaken as a mage but being hasty will cause you more harm than good" she said rubbing his hair.
Ash thought about those words and felt regret for worrying her. He has been so hasty to increase his magic power due to the frustration of failing that he neglected his welfare of his body. Due to that for 2 days he did not do any training and only went to black smithy in the evening. He wanted to clear his mind to achieve it again.
On the third day after completing his training he started to lit the edges. He decided to decrease the pace of energy gathering because the last time he accumulate energy he collapsed. He started to take breaks in between gathering to avoid dizziness. Slowly he started increasing the pace but this time there is not sweat or dizziness. His body started adjusting to the pace of gathering energy.
After 1 hour he could finally light the bottom right edge of the star with extreme glow. He felt an increase in energy as soon as the star got lit.
"System what is the magic power now?"
"The magic power is 102 host" said the system. Ash smiled at the number.
He continued it for another 5 days and was able to lit all the 5 edges. His magic power now is 150.
Now the litmus test starts which is the central area. The central area is a portion rather than an edge it would take ridiculous amount of energy to light it.
Ash did not fear or felt anxiety because after he lit the 5 edges he had confidence that he can lit the central area.
He started gathering energy and started accumulating it in the central portion of the star. But the energy kept depleting too quickly from that portion. So this posed a problem for him to go on.
Ash did the same thing again and again by taking breaks. He decided to block the energy from escaping by borrowing energy from the edges of the star. This completely mitigated the problem of depletion. Now only one problem remains. That is after lighting the central area he needs to stabilize the energy as there can be an energy burst.
He achieved the process of lighting it on the 7th day. But the stability was not goo so he did something no one would not have expected. To avoid the bursting of energy he used the unstable energy to form a barrier around the star. By the end of the day he was able to attain the stability of the star. But this completely drained the energy out of him. But he did not collapse because he got habituated to this feeling.
"Host's magic power has reached 200. Host now has the power to complete the second step and also use mana" said the system.
Ash did not bother with the second sentence as he will do it afterwards.
The next day after the intense physical training he started the second step. This time he concentrated on bringing the energy of bringing adequate energy to light a medium size power.
The edges of the star along with the central portion started glowing. He felt a warm sensation in his body and a medium size flame appeared on his body without any issue.
A smile completely covered his face. He wanted to test his fire bolt spell. He looked at a tree log on the ground and used the fire bolt spell. The fire bolt activated and immediately hit the log without any issue. Ash felt very happy because he did not feel drained or did feel anything after casting his first spell.
In a distance all three of his brothers saw what has happened. They could not believe that the trash of the household could awaken high magic power and cast spells. Donald gritted his teeth out of frustration since he will not be present here as he will be leaving for academy tomorrow. The fire bolt spell is a medium grade spell that he could only do it at 12 years of age. Even Kelvin and Calvin took a lot of time to learn that spell.
Kelvin and Calvin were feeling angry and frustrated due to the growth of Ash's magic power. They could feel the magic power of Ash which is 200. In few weeks he was able to increase the magic power to 200 which is terrifying according to the standards of this world.
Since Donald will not be there Kelvin and Calvin decided to mess with Ash through their own schemes. They knew their father is also angry with Ash and will not punish them if they did something.
Ash could see his three brothers from distance. He knew that his time of peaceful training will not happen from now on because Kelvin and Calvin will make lots of trouble for him.

But Ash did not fear them because now he has magic powers and he had his own crooked ways to make their brothers suffer if they do something to him. He packed and went home. He took a leave from smithy to complete the second step.
