CHAPTER 22

After two days Andrew was released from the hospital. What happened between him and the masked guy was kept to himself. His adoptive parents don't force him to tell them the truth about what happened, and he appreciates it a lot. He was lucky to have understanding parents although they are not blood-related. They treat him as their son, and he was glad he had them in his life.

The next day after he was released from the hospital, he went back to work instantly even though his mother was against it, but in the end, she still gave in. They can't stop him from doing whatever he wants to do, even though sometimes he already hurts their feelings, but they always understand him and give their support to whatever he does.

Andrew arrives at his office, and the first thing he does is search his whole office for the key chain, hoping that he just drops it there somewhere. He crawled under his table, looked under the couch, his drawers, he looked around every corner but he couldn't find it.

He was so engrossed in searching inside his office, that he didn't notice Daniel's arrival. "Andrew, what are you doing?" Daniel asked, surprised to see his office was turned upside down, which startled Andrew.

"Yah! don't just show up like that." Andrew hissed.

"What are you searching for?"

"I'm looking for my keychain." He answered briefly and continued searching.

"What key chain? Look what you did to your office, you make it look like a theft came here.

"But I need to find the key chain, it's the only thing I had that reminded me of my brother."

"Maybe you lost it somewhere if you can't find it here, stop it already, your father called us to his office. I'll help you find it later." Daniel said with pity in his eyes, he knew how Andrew treasured that keychain like his life wasn't complete without it.

Andrew stood up sighing. He closed his eyes running his palm over his face frustrated, before opening his eyes again, and he met Daniel's eyes which were looking at him with pity.

"Don't look at me like that," Andrew said glaring at him.

"Don't give me that look, I'm still mad at you, about what you said to me last time," Daniel said glaring back at him.

"Tsk! Andrew hissed and walked past him.

"Yah! you don't have a plan of taking back what you said to me, you knew it hurt," he said pouting.

Andrew just shrugged his shoulders for an answer, while continuing walking.

"Take it back, hurry up, or you'll lose your precious best friend," Daniel warned him.

"I don't care, I have Jasper and Derek anyway." He joked.

"What??? Daniel screamed, grabbing his wrist, and spinning him around. Andrew chuckled and whacked his head.

"Yah! Daniel whacked his head back, chuckling. Andrew chuckled and head-locked him dragging him toward his father's office laughing. They arrived in front of Gen. Choi's office. Andrew quickly let go of Daniel and fixed himself. Daniel did the same and wiped the playful smile on their lips. Andrew knocked at the door and waited for someone to let them in. The door opens, revealing the smiling Jasper

"Morning, sir." Jasper greeted them. Andrew and Daniel smiled back at him and stepped inside.

"Sit." his father said and gestured to them to sit on the vacant couch with four guys sitting opposite them. Andrew and Daniel sit there while looking at four new guys in front of them.

"Okay." Gen. Choi started. "This is Xander. He's the guy I told you about, and this is Dean, Darren, and Warren. All of them are from the tactical department, and they will join your team starting today."

Andrew looked at Xander and he caught him also staring at him, but quickly diverted his gaze when he saw that he was looking at him.

"Weird." Andrew thought.

"Xander, starting today Andrew will lead your team together with him. I hope you'll cooperate, and work together in harmony. Do I need to introduce them to you?" Mr. Choi asked Xander.

"No need sir, we already knew them because of the lot of recognition they receive. " He answered.

"Okay then." Gen. Choi said. Andrew stood up and extended his hand to Xander for a handshake. Xander also stood up and shook his hand.

"Welcome to the team," Andrew said, smiling.

"Thank you, we're honored to work with you Inspector Choi," Xander said, smiling.

"Okay that's all, you can start to do your work now," Gen.Choi said, picking up some files above his table and handing them to Andrew. Andrew looked at the file and his eyes widened when he saw what was inside.

"That's the only thing I can help, I hope you won't make some drastic decision that can harm you, and your team. Clear your mind and make a plan." His father said. Andrew smiled and nodded his head.

"Thank you." He whispered.

"Okay, you all can leave now, I have a lot of work to do." Gen. Choi said smiling. They smiled, bowing their heads, and scampered out of his office.

"Xander, Umm I can call you by your name?" Andrew asked.

"Yes sir," he answered.

"Just call me Andrew, let's do a first-name basis with our team, so that we won't feel awkward with each other," Andrew said smiling.

"Okay," Xander answered briefly.

"Can you come with me inside my office for a while? I just want to ask you something," Andrew said and he felt the stares of his friends piercing behind him. He knew that they knew the reason why he asked Xander, but he ignored them.

Xander nodded and followed behind him inside his office, while the rest went to their own office, the room just across from Andrew.

"Sorry about the mess. I was looking at something earlier, and Gen. Choi called me, that's why I don't have time to fix it." He said embarrassed. He forgot that his office was messed up when he left earlier. He picks up some of the paper on the floor and tidies his table a little.

"No problem sir," Xander said, chuckling.

"Andrew." He corrected, ``Sit wherever you want."

"Thanks, Andrew. it's weird to call you by your name." Xander said smiling. Andrew just chuckled and sat on the couch across from him.

"I just want to ask you something. Do you know about the scorpion tattoo? Gen. Choi told me that you have access to their organization.

Xander looks at him with a crease forming on his forehead, "Why do you want to know about them?"

"For the case that I'm holding." He lied, he can't trust him for now, and he can't tell him his fast.

"You're lying," Xander said. "I can't tell you if you can't give me a valid reason why you want to know."

Andrew took a deep breath. "The leader of that organization took something very important from me, that's all I can tell you."

"Not a valid reason, but I'll tell you what I know. I have a secret spy inside their organization that gives me info every time they have a deal with their drugs, but besides that, I knew nothing." He said.

"Can I ask you a favor? Can I meet your spy?"

"That's impossible," Xander said.

"Why?"

"That's our deal, he won't meet anyone except me.

Andrew's shoulder deflated. "Then can you ask him where I can find Mr. Park?' Andrew asked again.

A crease on Xander's forehead deepened, sensing something deep about why he was asking this to him. "If you're asking this because of a personal matter, maybe we should end this conversation sir," Xander said. "And you're asking for a hard favor. Mr. Park is the head of this organization, and not a normal person, finding him is hard. But whatever your real reason is I'm hoping that I can help with your problem one of these days."

"I'm sorry for asking you this, but I'm hoping one day you can help me to find Mr. Park," Andrew said disappointed. He's hoping that when he meets Xander he's spy can help him to locate where Mr. Park but he was wrong.

"Your office is just beside mine, you can put your stuff in there now."

Xander nodded then excused himself and left the room.

***

It's been three days since he asked one of his trusted men to get some info about Inspector Choi, but until now he hasn't received a call from him, he's losing his patience already, and he is anticipating to know what happened to him after the incident twenty years ago.

He was inside his office pacing back and forth inside the spacious room. He gritted his teeth and picked up his phone. He dialed a number and waited for the person on the other line to answer it.

"Boss." the person on the other line said.

"Do you have the information now?" he asked.

"Yes boss, I'll fax it to you, but there's some problem with his record, it all started when he was eight years old. The man on the other line answered.

"Don't mind it, just send it to me." Then he hangs up. After 10 minutes his fax machine sounded. He quickly went to it and read the document while still in the machine.

Matthew chuckled bitterly. "You change your surname huh! Having a complete family. Father, Mother, and son. Wow, great life while me..... he chuckled bitterly. "Living with my one foot is already six feet under the ground. I'm living in hell because of you because you forgot about me, you're the reason why I'm here. Even now that you have the strength to help me, you didn't find me, brother. You don't know what I've gone through, how hard my life is, but you don't look for me, to save me." Matthew thought and crumpled all the documents about his brother and threw them in the trash can. His tears fell from his eyes but quickly wiped them off.

"So that day Mom and Dad died." He thought. His fist balled on his side while clenching his jaw, his body was trembling in anger.

"Mom, Dad, I know you're watching me over there, I know that you're disappointed in me but this is the way I know to survive, and fulfill my plan. His tears fell from his eyes again and he let them stream down his face.
