Whispers in the rain

The wind blew Ray's long hair so that the end of it gently touched her face and the rain soaked their clothes. His eyes sparkled so brilliantly that moment that Iris could not look any other way. His words resonated inside her head. He thought she was meant for something more, for greatness. Those words woke something inside her, an unknown resolution to find that power and to prove him right, that she was that person he envisioned.

After a long moment, as if just realising what he was doing, he suddenly let go and took a few steps back, hitting the wall behind him. The distance made her feel cold and lonely. She looked at him with questioning eyes.

The mage caught and moved his sight of view into the distance to the storm that was by then far away. "I'm sorry, your grace. Although what I meant is true, my actions cannot be justified."
