CHAPTER sixty-two: Losing the heir to the throne of Valeria

A full month passed, following the incident of her false labor and catching Lucas in bed with Elena. She avoided him like he was the plague and kept to her chambers. He also ignored her with all intents and purposes. No, ignoring was not the right word for it. Rather, it seemed Lucas found every opportunity to be away from her. Rather than force her listen to his explanations or apologize to her, he kept his distance and seemed to be brooding.

A few times, while she visited to halls to knit or to get some fresh air, she would see catch him staring at her and her belly.

She thought maybe he was worried about his pup. Anyway, it does not concern her.

In this moment, she was in Sian’s chambers, Isobel was seated quietly on a stool facing the hearth while Sian stood behind her, pulling her hair into braids.

Amelia sat on her bed, with a little boy in her arms, who was fast asleep. A soft smile teased her lips as she swiped her hand across the boy’s hair. It was so soft.
