  Amelia’s piercing scream cut through the silence of the castle, rattling the windows and outside the gates to the fields yonder. It filtered to Alpha King Conroy’s hearing as he returned from his run with his pack members. All motion ceased.

  The members of his pack as one looked at him and they begun a sprint instantly to the castle. As they leaped over the castle walls, not waiting for the sleeping guard to open the gates, Conroy saw a massive block of stone loosed from its spot come crashing down to the ground followed by the body of his Amelia. Its thunderous landing made the ground shudder and sent Conroy’s wolf stilling with a paled face.
