CHAPTER sixty-eight: Arian, Amelia and Conroy.

“Arian would never accept a human.’ a voice spat at Isobel, who stood clearing the used trenchers and wine goblet in the kitchen.

Isobel ignored the jab and was soon done with the chores.

She found Gamma Ursa in her quarters, setting her bowers to right when she returned to it.

She was in a raging mood, Isobel noticed, if her glowering expression and the way she twisted the fur coverlet on her bed was anything to go by.

“Good morn, Gamma Ursa.” Isobel smiled as she flopped tiredly on the bed, “It is too fine a night to be in such rage, don’t you think so? And what have we here, you, in my room, cleaning up?”

The Gamma scoffed, “You are beginning to think you are so important in the castle since your father was made the leader of the human council in Valeria. Well, I plead you not, it must be the furthest thing from the truth. You are simply a glorified slave in here.”

Isobel laughed, “And what are you? An un-glorified servant?”
