CHAPTER 7

"Listen Abs, we're Alexandro's children. A lot of people will do anything and everything to try and hurt us. Mira inclusive. Dad did the right thing by locking her up. If he didn't catch her when he did, you probably won't be here with us right now. So quit being stubborn and come and have dinner with us" Britney said to her.

Abby pulled herself away from her sister's grip before scribbling again.

"I'm staying here. And Mira is nice. She never tried to hurt me" The automated voice spoke out.

"Alright then. We've tried" Brian said and walked away with Britney.

Abby sat down in front of her father's study. She was determined to wait for him till whenever he comes out. And she must have really waited because she fell asleep a while after.

Alexandro stepped out of his study to prepare for bed when his eyes caught a sleeping Abby In front of him with her tablet held protectively to her chest.?

What is she doing out here? Why isn't she sleeping in her bedroom??

He bent down to pick her up but she stirred awake.

"Abby, what are you doing here?" He asked and she sat up properly and picked up her tablet.?

She scribbled and Alexandro watched her keenly.

"I want you to listen to me, daddy. Please" The voice from her tablet came through and Alexandro nodded.?

"What is it, baby?" He urged on "I'm right here"

  She scribbled again.

"That lady at the hospital wasn't trying to harm me. I was scared of taking a shot from the nurse so I ran away" the voice was still saying "And I almost got hit by a vehicle"

Alexandro's heart sank when she said that but she didn't stop scribbling. She almost died? He couldn't believe his ears.

"She saved me before I got hit and then she escorted me back to the clinic to meet you. I turned off my GPS and that's why you couldn't find me. She's very nice." The voice kept saying.?

Alexandro scratched his head as he listened to his daughter's explanation.

"I tried to tell you but you were too upset to listen" the voice concluded and Abby watched her father with pleading eyes.?

"Please let her out daddy," The voice said again.?

In as much as Alexandro was confused, he knows that Abby won't lie to him, and plus ever since she came back home, she hasn't been hiding away like she does all the time.

Abby rarely uses her tablet to speak. He bought it for her so that she could communicate with the rest of the family since she couldn't speak. Most times she just prefers to stay quiet no matter the questions being thrown at her except for the occasional nod she gives once in a while but Abby has used that same tablet to talk to him and she isn't shying away. What has this lady done to his daughter?

Abby doesn't speak to strangers. In the last three years, they had let go over fifty nannies because she just couldn't get used to them but now that same Abby is requesting him to let this woman go? Why this particular stranger?

Is this also progress in her healing process? Or is his mind playing tricks on him right now?

Mirabella doesn't know how long she sat there waiting but she was.?

She didn't know who and what she was waiting for but somehow, she was waiting. Maybe for a miracle or for something bigger than a miracle.

She wiped the stray tears that fell from her eyes and just then, she heard the rattling of keys coming from the gate to the cell where she was being held captive in.?

She darted her eyes towards the sound to find a police guard fuming as he unlocked the gates.?

"Miss Mirabella Adams, you're free to go" He announced when he opened the gate wide and stepped aside so that she could pass.?

Is this really happening or has she envisioned herself getting free to the point that her dream has been actualized? Is she hallucinating?

"What?" She sniffed. Her ears couldn't believe the good news that was just broken down to her. Is he messing with her?

"This way!" Was the officer's response to her surprising question.?

Mira followed him even though deep down in her hearts of heart, she was still harboring some iota of doubt.?

They arrived at the entrance and it was only when he handed her stuff over to her that a wave of relief coursed through her. This isn't a dream. It's really happening. She's finally free to go. She can go home to Rukky and Casey now.?

Mira looked at the guard like he's grown a second head. She wasn't supposed to ask but she found herself still asking him "How did I get out? Who let me out?"

"A good samaritan had a change of heart" Was his twisted response to her question.

Could it be Alexandro? It had to be him because he made it clear that she shouldn't be allowed to leave when she was brought in so it's only fair that it's him. Did he suddenly have a change of heart?

Smiling, she opened her purse and searched frantically for her cellphone. When she found it, she quickly placed a call across to Rukky who was excited to come and pick her up so she had to wait for her.?

Mira stepped out of the police station as she waited patiently for Rukky. Just then, a Porsche pulls up in front of the station.

She was about to ask who it is when the door flew open and Abby jumped down running towards her.?

Mira crouched down to her level and Abby wrapped her hands over her shoulders.?

"Abby, what are you doing here?" She stressed out "It's late and you're supposed to be in bed"

"Abby insisted on seeing you so Mr. King instructed us to bring her here" The bodyguard who spoke was the one from earlier who called the cops on her. The silly bastard.

"Let me guess" she started, facing Abby "You let me out right?"

  Abby nodded before scribbling.

"I explained to Dad and he let you go"?

"Thanks so much, Abby." Mira kissed her hair lovingly. "You have no idea how much this means to me."

"Mr. King sincerely apologies for the misunderstanding and if should in case you need to be compensated..."

"I don't want his money." She cut him off angrily "And I most definitely do not need his apologies."
