CHAPTER 77

  It was as if I was frozen in time as my wolf screamed her fury, her pain and her grief into the void as we stared at Nate's lifeless body, his face frozen in a mask of shock, as if he couldn't believe that he had lost.

  The tears streamed down my face as I struggled to make sense of what had just happened, my emotions twisting and turning inside of me as a deafening roar seemed to fill my mind.

  I could dimly make out the voices of Josh and Rae somewhere behind me, but I couldn't make out what they were saying.

  "No one can help you now 42," Magda cackled as the sound of a rhythmic thudding, as if someone was banging their fists on a solid glass panel, rippled around me, "Even Rae's pathetic dragon fire cannot touch us in here."

  I turned in a daze, looking over my shoulder to see a wall of something solid with a pearlescent sheen separating Rae and Josh from where I stood.
