Chapter THREE LEARNING THE ROPES

Lunch break was over and the students went back to their respective classes.

Becca and Steph walked hand in hand to the art room as it was time for Art and crafts.

The subject was not compulsory for everyone but some students

offered it because of their love for Art.

The Art's teacher Mrs Valarie was a bubbly and ever smiling teacher with contagious smiles.

Her class was usually one of the best and most interesting in the entire school due to her fun and free nature.

She told her students that afternoon to make a drawing of what felt important to them.

The only thing to Becca at that moment was her mom. She missed her mom badly.

Even though it's been two years since she died, it still felt like yesterday to her.

She drew her from memory relatively easy as she had so many drawings of her mom in her room.

She felt a little sad and tears gathered in her eyes but she wiped them off before any one could notice and continued drawing and

outlining every important detail from her eyes, face, smile, lips etc

After she was done she was amazed at how great the drawing came out. But she wasn't really surprised because she's been drawing her for a while now.

“Wow! It's amazing”. Miss Valerie commented on her drawing and went to check on the drawings of the rest of the class. She just smiled and said nothing.

Some other students also came to check out her drawing and they also commented that it was very good and she was glad.

She started arranging her hings to drop them at her locker when Mrs Valarie announced the two best drawings for the class which was Becca's and Jason's.

Becca looked around for who Jason was and it turned out to be the blue eyed boy that was staring at her in the cafeteria.

She didn't notice how goodlooking and tall he was when they were in the cafeteria.

She felt nervous all of a sudden when he came to where she was and told her that her drawing was good.

Her heart started pounding of a sudden and she felt like fainting anytime soon. She couldn't understand why she was feeling that way.

When he smiled and offered his hand for a handshake, she gladly accepted it and he left afterwards to his locker.

She didn't have the chance to check out his drawing and it made her a little sad. She wanted to see how good it was but she consoled herself that there would be other chances.

Steph came to where she was after Jason had left.

“I can't believe that Jason actually talked to, smiled at and shaked your hand”. She said excitedly.

“It's just a simple handshake, nothing special. I don't see any big deal”. Becca shrugged.

“It's a big deal actually. Jason is one of the richest and hottest guys in this school and he doesn't speak to anyone apart from his best friend Andrew.

A lot of girls are actually dieing for his attention but he just keeps to himself so the fact that he spoke to you means a lot”. She explained.

“A lot of girls right? Are you sure you're not one of them”. Becca teased her.

What? No! Okay I used to crush on him but I'm so over him and besides I'm dating Andrew so I don't care anymore”.

“Ok that's great. Can we stop talking about him and go back to class now?". Becca asked rolling her eyes.

“Whatever. Let's go”. Steph agreed and they walked back to class.

Other classes felt great to Becca except physical education. She was horrible when it came to anything sports and exercise.

The only exercise she could comfortably do without fatigue was walking, even running was a huge problem for her.

Luckily for her since it was the first day of school they were asked to do simple warm up exercises like pull ups, arm scissors, inclined push ups and she was glad and managed to do them even though she was panting at the end.

“You're tired right?”. Steph asked her helping her stand up.

“Yes! I'm exhausted! I don't think I can take any more of this”. She said tiredly.

“Me too. I'm at the verge of fainting”. Steph laughed exposing her perfect dentition.

Luckily the bell rang and they went to the locker room to take a quick shower, get dressed into their normal uniform and go back to class.

During free period (Becca noticed that the school had a lot of

those), a new student came to the class and introduced herself as Maddison.

What are the odds? Two new students in a day.

“Hi class. I'm Maddison and today is my first day here.

I'm here on scholarship actually and I'm look forward to schooling here and I hope to make new friends”. She said nervously.

“Wow that's lovely”. A guy said smiling mischieviously and it felt creepy to Becca. She quickly looked away.

She left the class to the library to study since they weren't learning at that moment.

She was a book work and loved reading all types of book but mostly fictional novels.

Luckily the library was stacked with lots of books both fiction, non fiction, historical books, cookbooks, artbooks etc so she could comfortably choose the one she wanted.

The library was quiet with only few students in it and she liked it that way. She looked for a comfortable spot to sit and read the book she had selected.

She was so engrossed in her book that she didn't notice when the bell for other classes rang and she ended up reading the book till she heard the closing bell.

“Wow I love my first day here”. She thought, even though a part of her still missed her old school and some of her friends there, though they were really not that close.

She decided not to dwell on such thoughts but focus on making the best of her opportunity here.

She went back to her locker to retrieve her bag and the drawing of her mom to take home.

She saw Steph on her way out standing at a place as if she was looking for someone.

“Becca I've been looking everywhere for you. Where have you been?”. She asked worried.

“Sorry I was in the library reading”

“That's a relief. I thought something bad had happened but it's great to see that your ok”. She said happily.

“You don't really have to worry about it. Nothing bad is going to happen”. Becca said confidently

“I really enjoyed my first day here. The school closes early compared to my other school”. She told Steph.

“I'm glad you like it and there's still a lot more fun things in store for you.

We usually have extra curricular activities at the end of school but those are starting next week”. Steph explained to her.

“Great!I can't wait to be a part of them". She said excitedly.

“I'm going to call a cab and go home. Good bye”. Becca said and made to leave when Steph stopped her.

“No! You're supposed to be rich remember. It's either you have your personal driver or you drive yourself.

Only the low class enter cabs, subways or busses”. Steph said with a look of disdain.

“But there's nothing wrong with it”. Becca argued.

“Everything is wrong with it. You can't be seen in a cab, it will ruin everything. You can take a ride with me for the main time”. She offered.

“All this lieing is making me sick. The truth would come out eventually so what's the use”. Becca complained.

“Maybe, but for now you have to go through with this . You don't know how bad these school laws are that's you are complaining.

I'm just trying to watch out for you and make sure you don't get

  hurt”.

“Fine! Thanks for your kindness”. Becca said.

“My pleasure”. She said laughing and they walked together to her car.

Tracy was angry seeing Becca going home with Steph. Normally she never lets anyone enter her car but here she is letting the new girl enter on her first day and it made her so annoyed.

Also Jason who never spoke to anyone talked to her and even shook her hand like she was important or something.

Tracy had a huge crush on Jason since she could remember but sadly he never paid any attention to her and it hurt her badly.

She has done all she could for him to notice her but he doesn't seem to know that she exists and she hated him for that.

She just wondered. Was there something else that made Steph treat her special? Was it just the fact that they are long lost

  friends?

Something felt fishy to her and she was determined to find out.
