CHAPTER 106: Taking Ruby Back

  “Mom!” I called her out in excitement and fastened my pace towards her. I wished I could run towards her, but I didn’t want to take a risk; not after what happened with Pearl.

  My mom ran towards me and engulfed me into a big hug. “How are you, love?”

  “I was good but seeing you made me better,” I answered, still with a smile plastered on my face. Nothing was more comfortable than being in my mom's embrace.

  After we broke apart from the hug, Mom kissed my cheek. “I missed you, honey.”

  “I missed you too, Mom. How are you? Are you staying happy?” I asked, arching an eyebrow at her. After getting married to her boyfriend, my mom was indeed happier than before. There was a special glow in her face. The guy was really keeping her happy, yet I had to ask her for confirmation.

  “Of course,” she mumbled. “You were on the way to my house two days ago. Then why didn’t you come? I was waiting for your arrival eagerly. I even prepared your favorite dishes.”
