CHAPTER 27

  Elena's POV

The temperature of my neck had begun to cool down and the pendant became just a stone once more-- a magical gem.

Cass shifted his neck left and right with the aid of his hands and a lousy crack from his bones resonated.

"You must be really tired," I said.

"Yes I'm, but my job here is to see you through this task so no rest or food till we accomplish our mission." He winked at me and his deep-rooted dimples flashed at me.

I smiled in response and squeezed his hands in appreciation.

The chamber door had no guard stationed in front of it. My pendant flashed its ruby light again and the door opened automatically. The red rug marked the representation of royalty. Huge ancient artifacts were placed at the entrance corner of the room. It would have been a magnet to art lovers but I saw no unique beauty in those old yet well-sculptured stones.
