Meghan's Invitation

It was a typical Monday morning. I was walking towards my locker when I began to hear girlish laughter. I tossed the soda can in my left hand and opened it. I was still drinking gently when someone poked my shoulder. I turned to see Meghan( the most popular girl at school), a beautiful sixteen year old with chestnut brown hair. Next to her were Brett, Ashley and Sadie. Sadie as always wore a black hoodie with the hood down, showing her beautiful blonde hair, neatly packed at the back. She also wore a black and white polka dot skirt that exposed her nice legs and black shoes. Of course, I noticed her faint pink lips and her hazel eyes which were looking at the floor tiles half the time she stood there. I was Sadie's secret admirer. She was way nicer than the other three and unlike Ash and Meghan, she didn't go around teasing people. Well, I was surprised when I discovered it was Meghan poking me with her pen. So surprised I spat the drink back into the can. The ladies only giggled further, forcing me to laugh nervously.

'You busy this weekend?' Meghan asked still giggling.

'This weekend? No, why?'

'I'm inviting you to my birthday bash this Saturday'

'Me?' I blurted but quickly added, '...your place?' as I cursed inwardly.

'Yeah!' she smiled.

'Okay, cool...' I said scratching my crown nervously, making the girls giggle again.

'See ya Mike,' Ashley said with a wink and the all four girls walked away.

Ashley and I used to be close friends in fourth grade. She used to be really cute (not that she isn't presently though). She even had braces back then and we'd share a table at the cafeteria. 'Where'd all that go?'

'Get to class young man!' Mr. Stewart, the principal yelled at me. Just then, I realized I was the only one left here.

'Of course…thank you sir,' I replied before hurriedly running to class.

You know Mr. Stewart's a really nice guy. Too bad he had to deal with really nasty parents and the no better Board of Governors (B.O.G.).

Remember when I said I lived here in Jade city with my parents? Well, sometimes it feels like I live alone. Dad works outside the city. It's a three hour drive from dad's workplace to the city and mum, she's been in a coma for two months now. She had an accident and an eye witness says she was attacked by a strange looking man. Before the police could even start an investigation, the lady went missing.
